sometimes its the monitor that doesnt wake up correctly. Instead of Emergency shutdown by holding the power button, Try putting the laptop to sleep by taping the power button instead. Then after 2 - 3 secounds tap the Power button 1 more time to wake up the laptop from sleep. If it worked, your monitor will turn on. EASY!

But incase you did not,
I had the same issue for months, But do the following it should work out fine.
Fist open your PC inside (find the right tools) try to access your motherboard, Use electronics cleaner or 99,9% alcohol, with a tooth brush or a small soft brush to clean your mother board, (remove battery) spray carefully and brush it clean then let dry. there tends to be corrosion on your IC's just like on your car battery terminals.
After all that Piece it together fire it up and it should work, Then Update your BIOS, INTEL CHIP SET, BLUETOOTH, GRAPHICS, go to dell driver support to find all the drivers your are suppose to update.
That is what worked for me i hope it works for you too and everyone who might need this.

I did exactly that and it stayed on for two seconds. I believe it cause the battery is dead. All attachment lights up and the power cord does not power the cord. I check the Rams and it still black screen. I have a Dell studio 1558. I going to try a new cord and see if this is this is the problem

Did not work. After swapping the ram, I pushed the power button and the laptop went on for 2 second and turned off. I don't know if it's due to the battery that is totally dead.

Mine is a black screen problem. After doing the removal of everything, pressing power button many times it starts but shows boot device not found, then I need to change the bios settings and other things. I also found in one test that there is error of partition table. PC is working, but the same problem again and again is time consuming. What can I do?
