It is amazing what you can do with wood. Things come alive with your hands. You are so good.
Some folks find a hobby and get pretty good at it. Some others have the hidden talents in their soul that are so masterful that it must come out. Those masterful souls have eyes to see the hidden wonders that their skills can reveal. Those souls teach by doing. They open doors in others minds while all the while creating their masterpieces.
There is no doubt your art and soul are one. Your posts here are absolute blessings to those who get to see them, for they stir the spirit and cause one to question not just what is hidden within the wood they carve- but they are forced to ask what lies hidden within themselves. Thanks for being the teacher, the artist and the spark that instills a sense of wonder of what is possible.

I’ve always wanted to learn to carve. As a scout I’d mess around with a stick and pocketknife. And only make pointed sticks. But after find this channel and watching many of your videos I finally just gave in and started to try it, and I’m loving it. Thanks for the inspiration and the videos.

My favorite carving so far Doug. Mainly because my father-in-laws favorite thing in the entire world is a lighthouse plus I have turned him on to your channel because he and I both carve as well.
For my sweet wife it's butterflies and lighthouses. We have two of those solar-powered replica lighthouses in our little flower garden. We're only about 700 miles from the nearest ocean.

How the 3D pops out is amazing. The stonework at the bottom, doorway arch, masonry at the top. The cinderblocks. I especially like you leaving some bark in it as well. Love watching your videos. So, do you like the larger carvings compared to the little ones or is it a joy of all things when carving. Piddling around here and there, that's what I always find myself doing. Still patiently waiting for the Sunday Doug and Sophie show at 1:00 but know you're a busy man. Thanks for what you do!

I love it. I especially like that you left some bark, which gives the impression that the carving grew out of the log, which it did.
