My husband is a woodturner and he has been making trees, snowman, lanterns, bells and more and I have been doing the same thing as your wife, arranging them everywhere.
Thanks, Doug, for showing the finishing touches with the oil and the paints. This helps to fully conceptualize the end result. I think this'll be my next project...😁
I gotta say, the way you come up with and explain these tutorials is absolutely amazing. I normally watch fully once, give it a shot, then watch again to be able to identify any slight changes I can make to improve on my next one. My carvings have improved a ton thanks to the many tips and tricks I've learned from you.
I am a brand new carver and have been watching your videos. I have carved 3 of these trees, and they look horrible lol. But… each one looks better than the last which is a sign of progress! Love the videos!
32 Doug, thank you for all the carvings, tutorials, and paint video's. I realize you spent a lot of time on this, for us. Despite the time you have. Thank your wife, too from me, for supporting you to do this. I know how important backup is. I'll send you a picture from a tree that I made.
I appreciate hearing you nicked your finger - I went into the nail bed on my last injury and my wife now checks to make sure I have my glove on. Appreciate your creativity and fun approach to these carvings. I learn something new every video.
Thank you Doug for all your wonderful videos and the podcast too…I love to watch them in the mornings with a cup of coffee. It’s such a lovely way to start my day. 😊 ☕️💚
Your videos are so awesome! I look forward to each of them as they have Been so beneficial in my newly discovered passion, wood carving! Thank you!!!! 🧡
Just heard you’re having a break. I was loving the one inch series . I’ll send a pic of of some bears I’ve done . Thanks for the lessons . There’s one thing that puts you ahead of the rest Doug. It’s your voice . Very calming. You’ve a joy to carve with. Come back with a cabin . Take care ✌️
My wife has been wanting trees. I think she has been messaging you 😊 Nice work. Glad you did not seriously get cut. Boy, I have come close a few times and so far always lived to carve another day. Merry Christmas!
Really, really cool! The short cuts, "Doug's way" make this so much easier than the finished tree looks. You're the best! Merry Christmas to all the Linkers! Oh a cabin, little house, shed or teepee would be cool.
Well thanks for the morning carve idea. Finished a Cottonwood bark monster yesterday, didn’t know what I was going to today, saw your video of the tree carving and Bamm, instant idea thanks to you. It was a fun carve. thank you. Have a great day.
Doug, I'm really glad you're doing this one-inch series because I just ordered a lot of 1" pieces and I was looking for new ideas. I'm living in the Philippines right now, and don't have a ban saw. These figures are fun and I only need my knife!
Thanks for all your videos Doug. I am a newbie and you are my teacher. Actually having your samples in the background is very helpful to refer to as needed. Thank you!
Doug, you make it look so easy, I'm going to have a go at these and have a scene in mind with some snowmen. Look forward to the 'possible' extra of a Cabin, absolute inspiration to woodcarvers! Hope you get the balance between your life and 'youtube' I know you will. Warmest greetings from Titanic Town.
I really like this little project! I found, that it's better for me to change up the order a bit. I do the chips in upper row, then connect them and make the scoops. Then I make the next row and so on. This has the effect that you basically can see the tree growing out of the wood and helps with showing a preview of the results earlier. Good if you react better to instant gratification^^
Great it’s an easy quick carve. And I thought gosh his hands are made of steel. I would have got a nick. Then the next frame you have a glove. I can’t count the number of nicks and then I put the glove on.Thanks so much Doug. Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄
Now you really are the Bob Ross of carving with all those happy little trees
My husband is a woodturner and he has been making trees, snowman, lanterns, bells and more and I have been doing the same thing as your wife, arranging them everywhere.
Please don,t stop these little whittles... You are truly appreciated..
Yes! Thrilled you decided to post this video from the coffee and carving podcast!
I'm slowly getting the hang of these, and each one is looking better than the last. Thanks for sharing! Absolutely love the 1x1 series.
Thanks, Doug, for showing the finishing touches with the oil and the paints. This helps to fully conceptualize the end result. I think this'll be my next project...😁

Doug - I love the fact you're switching up your knives so much. People get hung up on one knife and think they can't carve without it.
Thankyou for all the joy you have brought me this year. May you and your family have a joyous Christmas. ❤❤❤
