It's funny when people say that Blender's smoke is 'good but not Houdini'. They're both FLIP fluid sims, and if you didn't see them side-by-side, they can both do relatively identical work. It's nuts, but it's true!
Blenders smoke sim is very buggy, it crashes often, it's very slow, it doesn't have near the quality of Houdini and it's just frustrating.. it's still the same mess in Blender 4+ with MantaFlow! It's the only thing I really hate (and avoid) about Blender..
"I'll just add some thickness.. *dog pic pops up* " --literally made me laugh out loud, which is rare for me when watching youtube alone. Well played sir. 🤣
Thank you for your good tutorial. I have a problem. No matter what I do, the smoke does not move downwards after removing the glass. I did all the settings exactly as you did.
Excellently crafted tutorial. Great simple explanations of each step and why you're doing it. MantaFlow is really good and smoke and fire. Obviously it's not quite up to Houdini, but it's pretty dang good. This is a really cool idea. I haven't tried doing openVDB imports much. I like how simple that was to get a secondary simulation in the same render.
Hi great tutorial! When I add quick smoke it is black/dark greyish by default. Not white like yours. Please help me for the same. Blender version 3.4.1
Unusually, no objects were distributed in the tutorial, so I made one from scratch and did the same thing, but because of that, the smoke retention didn't work out as well as it did in the video, but I'm satisfied because I learned a lot. However, I think the video was not friendly to beginners. Sorry for the google translation.
when viewing my smoke sim the solid view its working totally fine but when I switch it to the render viewport it doesn't show what so ever, been trying to troubleshoot this for a few days now. do you have any idea what could cause that?
I'm having a bit of an issue with this tutorial in 3.5. For whatever reason the smoke is rendering in solid mode, but as soon as i switch to render, nothing appears at all. Would there be anything i could check to see why it's not rendering properly?
When I add the attribute + color ramp + multiple nodes to density field of BDSF node, the smoke disappears no matter what multiple value I used. Matched your exact settings, too, Do you know what's up with that?
minute 5.25 "pick up a cache location" ...i don t get it. you click the button and get "smoke domain". but how? when i click i only can choose some folder from the pc. and thank u very much for the tutorial!
Hi, thanks for watching. I’d first check your geometry for any holes, and apply transforms to all sim objects. If you still have issues, you may want to increase your resolution. I hope this helps
....oh man i probably shouldve watched the whole video through instead of following along in real time, my heart dropped after i heard "i canceled the sim after a few frames...." and my bake time was for nothing
this channel needs way more subs i swear
I just made a cryo tube last night and was searching for this exact simulation LOL Thank you
All still works in 4.1 (smoke part)
Thanks a lot !

Houdinis Solvers are way more advanced

Great tutorial! Can't wait to test it out.

thank you for the tutorial!!
Awesome tutorial ! So many ideas can be realised with that! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! 🚀
Always love the simulation tutorials for blender. The reason why I subscribed
Thanks for the sub! 🚀
@@PixelPlanetStudios How do I change the transparency of the smoke?
Thank you for this 🙏
Does the scene scale unit plays role in the simulation?
What is the scale unit you are using? meters or cm?
Great tutorial, Thx.
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
Amazing love this...
This is awesome
Thanks!
Smoking smoke!! 💯💯
Amazing tutorial, I love how simple and dynamic you method to explain things is, you got a new subscriber, thanks a lot!
Thanks for the subscribing and I’m glad you enjoyed the video 🚀

Make sure you apply a material to your sim, and that there are lights on your scene. I hope this helps!

nice
when viewing my smoke sim the solid view its working totally fine but when I switch it to the render viewport it doesn't show what so ever, been trying to troubleshoot this for a few days now. do you have any idea what could cause that?
The most common reason is that a volume material needs to be applied to the domain.

Hey I have the same problem, have you found a solution?
@@Mi-fo2tq I have not. Though i haven't really played with it too much since i moved on to environmental modeling
You should either bake simulation or start animation from the beginning.
Now, how would you go about having those two smoke sources interreact with each other?
my smoke disappears when I plug in the multiply node in shader's panel why?
Me too 😭
attribute make the smoke disappear like Density is being set to 0
is there a way i can make a character model smoke a cig with the character exhaling the smoke as well

Thanks for watching! In the video I skipped over the folder selection but that is all you need to do 👍🏻
The attribute part in the shader settings does not work for me in Blender 4.2.
Is it normal for Blender to grind to a halt when you up the resolution divisions?
I've been having an isssue with the whole doman filling with smoke soon as the simulation starts even though its supposed to start at frame 30
How do I change the transparency of the smoke?
wow
My smoke just sits and doesnt dissolve enough i added the EXACT settings you did and mine is acting completely differently
Smoking in real life = ☠️
Smoking in Blender = 😎
How do I increase the amount of smoke an object creates? I want it to fill the screen over time
do u have pack for smoke 💨 atmosphere?
I do not, but have thought about creating a VDB pack in the future
using blender 3.3 and these settings will work on any version above 3.2 ....
So 3.3 it is?
Liked and subscribed 🤣
😂 *3.2 AND above 🚀
where do people get these sounds effects for there vids ???
Here are some great SFX options: envato elements/audio jungle, artlist.io, video copilot motion pulse
we can t see what s written on the menus nor the shaders
the image is really poor
it will help though. so, thanks🙂
My smoke keeps leaking out of the tube and when I set the surface thickness to 1 the smoke just stays in the center without moving.

Atlantis is in the water outside the rocks of gibraltar. It's not even round

i think too much music can not concentrate well, opinion to the point i need to stop it
I’ll keep that in mind for the next one, thank you

its fake ah God all i got is a small smoke that goes up
i done all these things
