  • Here's how, in Affinity Photo, you can extract the colour channels for each of the three colour models (RGB, CMYK, LAB) into individual layers. The video also shows you how to recombine these into the original image.

nice image of Nathan Phillips Square and the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair which is held always the second weekend of July. The quite new Toronto sign is there and one of the most visited items in the GTA and across the street is the Old City Hall which fortunately due to citizens demands was not demolished but renewed. Many a wedding takes place in Old City Hall of which I have photographed many. Not seen but part of the Square is the current City Hall which was constructed in 1964 a year before my arrival in Toronto.

I've never even heard of LAB color before. Gonna have to investigate that to educate myself.

Yes, it's not that common. Often used to separate out monochrome (slightly different to CMYK's Black). Some people swear by it. It's also a CIE standard and is used in various devices. Watch out for more videos using it in the future...

Sine LAB mode is tricky, and RGB has no grey mode, I am asking should I just use CMYK to adjust colour for my photo?

You can certainly use this. Or you can use my macros to break down models. Just click the link below for the video:
