Some teachers are better at explaining and demonstrating theory than others. Scott does a good job here!

This is outstanding, Scott. I’ve played primarily by ear for over 50 years as I’m self taught. I wish this was available when I was young.

I finally understood why rock songs use those progressions all the time. Thanks, Scott!!!

Awesome! If you'd like to dig a lot deeper (and you're a sax player) I've got full courses on improv in my Sax School that explain chords from the very beginning all the way through advanced progressions. By the end, you'll have a complete understanding of chords and be able to recognize how they are working together. Here's the link if you want to check it you: www.scottpaddocksaxschool.com

Great video! Thanks!!! Wish you could have covered the 3rd chord and 7th. 7th is usually utilized as a “soft” dominant chord, no?

Hi Mr Paddock. Have a good day. Thank you very much. That knowledge is a very important for me...and for all saxophonists too. As my opinion.

Good lesson, Scott. Reminds me of the Robert Lowery method, and his "magic six notes".

Wow! Nice lesson on chord progressions. I like the way you teach with the review at the end to make it sink in. You really know how to demystify music theory concepts. I am currently studying with Improvise For Real where they use all numbers for their chord progressions so your explanation really compliments that. Thank you, Scott.

Thank you, Scott. As usual you know how to simplify things. Would love to do a chord study for a jazz standard where the tonal centre changes a little bit. I am really getting the hang of using numbers for chord changes in any key. It does take a lot of work when you don’t have a young brain, ha ha. But worth it. Thanks. 🥰🎵🎷
