Scott. I am already a student in your sax school, and I can't wait to get to this section in my course progression.

Hey Mark! Hope you are enjoying the Sax School. You're going to love the improv section. It is broken down into easy steps to follow and you'll be making some fast progress as you work your way through it.

How's your improv coming along? I checked out your TH-cam - great performances! I've often thought about doing a course on classical improv, but not sure how it would be received. The principles are all the same, except in classical music it would be more focused on technique heavy cadenzas.

I liked the first impro you did best. Much more interesting than playing diatonically.

Hi Scott, I notice that you leave your mouth pieces on your sax's in the background. Do you attach the mouthpieces for the sake of the videos? Or do you always leave your mouthpieces on? I only ask because I saw on a sax forum that it is not good to leave your mouthpieces on when you're not using the sax and that it can increase wear on the cork, although personally I like the idea of having mine attached so I can pick up and play whenever I feel like it. What are your thoughts?

I leave them on. I use Legere reeds so I don't have the reed maintenance issues, and I am playing them all throughout the day. I have my cork replaced about every 3 or so years which has been normal for me and the amount that I play. It's also a convenience thing for me. I like to be able to pick up my horn when I want without having to get them out. I tell my students to leave their saxes out if they are practicing on a regular basis. It's way easier to practice it when it is sitting there looking at you when you walk in the room 😁

@@ScottPaddock Thanks for the reply and for the info. I prefer to have my sax's ready to go when I feel like playing too.
