- Irfan Habib, the Marxist scholar from Aligarh Muslim University, is the subject of Manogna Sastry’s essay in the book 'Ten Heads of Ravana.' Habib has the distinction of being amongst the most vocal and unrelenting voices opposing the archaeological results of the excavations at Ayodhya against the backdrop of the dispute for the land demolished at the erstwhile Babri Masjid. Sastry analyzes his notorious role as a witness and ‘expert’ in the Ram Janmabhoomi issue at Ayodhya, as well as his and his coterie’s hold over the country’s premier historical research institutes and universities. Sastry’s lucid essay highlights several such points and key observations on a range of issues, drawing from original readings of Habib’s works and others. She traces the significant contributions of Irfan Habib to the disfiguring of Indian history and his role in creating a hegemony in academic institutions that perpetuate divisive and false historical accounts.

This is the difference between the BJP and the congress, BJJP government does cosmetic changes to take Hindu votes only when there is few months left for elections whereas congress government does several changes within month to introduce new changes in history and as well as in other areas , The Vajpayi government should have immediately appointed Historian Shri Kapil Kumar in ICHR in 1999 instead of 2004 , whereas after coming to the power in May 2004 the congress government immediately appointed Arjun Singh as education minister and he immediately changed the education secretary and asked him to form a panel of Historian rather distorian within 1 month to rewrite the history textbooks and the panel was formed and 6 months time was given to the Historian to rewrite the textbooks , The tasks were completed in time and books were published by December 2004 and the new rewritten books were in the school bags of the children by March 2005 ,Even today almost 10 years in power the BJP government seems to learn nothing their education minister proudly says that we have not changed even a single word and coma in textbooks
I congratulate the organisers and speakers of this conference to open our eyes on the evilness of these so-called historians from Aligarh, Delhi and JNU who knows very little but they dominate the Indian History Congress and control the publication of historical books in major publishers both Indian and foreign.

Irfan Habib is a historian of the highest order & his historiography is a proof of it. One can't rubbish his process because it's based on existing material facts.

I do not know much about Habib. But if his hypothesis' are static and uncorrected based on new findings then it’s obsolete and needs to be discarded and replaced with new theories.

Habib's original work was funded and influenced by our very own Chacha Nehru, one of his great admirers. He was ably assisted in his magic illusionsionary works by "Professor" Romila Thapar. Both of them had developed a fantastic technique for concocting evidence out of thin air to draw their conclusions. Ravana would have been ever proud of them. Maybe I am wrong. Ravana was an erudite scholar and composer who lived by a certain code. His only mistake was abducting Sita. We should compare these people to Hiiranyakashipu perhaps whose ideas were more apt for these Marxist '"historians".
Even Hiranyakashipu is not fitting as he was the father of Prehalada. You cannot compare him with any character in the Hindu texts.
