Looks like a sliced wire from striping the outer sheath, not a heat issue. Also, while not universal, most of the time that the wire overheats at the terminal the terminal wasn't tightened down to spec.
The advantage of a fused disconnect is that you protect the inaccessible wire from the disconnect to its breaker.
The disadvantage of a fused disconnect is that you have one more failure mode to examine if the protected device isn't working.
Interesting... Thank you for your comment.
IF you are trouble shooting this type of system and you are sourcing this video to do diy electrical work I would suspect most folks would have a digital multi meter and if not get out they are pretty cheap. And then you can easily check continuity to rule out that fail point very quickly
Still watching and at 21:40 he literally shows how to use a multi meter to check continuity 😂
Can I use this 60amp disconnect with 30amp fuse for my mini split unit 240volt on a 20amp double pole breaker.
What amperages do the instructions for the tankless water heater call for?
Recommended breaker - 2 x 50 amps*, Maximum Amperage @240V, 100amps
It's always best to stick with what the equipment manufacturer recommends to ward off potential problems down the road.@@HandymanLand
@@davids8133 I am grateful for your valuable insight. I truly appreciate the advice you gave me. Thanks 👍
A lot of people ignore the manufacturers recommendations which causes the warranty on the equipment to be voided in case of failure.@@HandymanLand
@@HandymanLand you would say 2pole 50 amp breaker not 2x50 a
Why use a fused disconnect vs an enclosed breaker?
Good question, I am debating on using an enclosed breaker in the workshop. For my dust collector. But I just couldn't find good info on people's experience with them. I guess I just need to experience it for myself.🤷 Thanks for your comment.
