    This was an exact replacement for the old one that lasted about 10 years. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx7yWIKcrbA9KMHkGSfcgxW2lsjHT6B8Sh The top of my mitigation tube by my roofline was just a 90 elbow which allowed too much debris to fall down into the fan, eventually ruining it. Without this issue, I bet it would have kept running another 10 years. When I replaced this fan, I added an extra elbow joint so the top tube now it does a 180, which should solve that problem. The radon guys around here wanted to charge me a $300 diagnostic fee, then parts/labor (probably close to $600 total). I installed this all by myself in about an hour for the cost of the fan; it would probably be even easier/faster with two people. FYI the manufacturer's warranty greatly differs depending on whether you install it yourself (1 yr warranty) or have a licensed installer do it (10 yrs).

    So you dont need a neutral going back to the breaker panel?

    • @HandymanLand
      @HandymanLand  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, the neutral is a hot. This is how we get our 240V.

    I was told to never turn off AC outdoor units if they had that type of dsiconnect because there was a 50/50 chance of failure, so I would always cut power to the unit from the breaker box..🤨

    • @HandymanLand
      @HandymanLand  ปีที่แล้ว

      True, this is why electricians always carry a votage detector. To be on the safe side. The disconnect is great to be on every AC unit.
      But yes, they can fail. I was called to a home, to replacing one that wouldn't turn off. Their AC unit wouldn't work. The HVC guy refused to do the job due to the fact that the disconnect wasn't working and that the breaker was not accessible. It was difficult to reach the breaker. The garage was jam-packed. And the Breaker to that unit was all the way in the back of the garage. This poor family was without AC for 4 days on the hottest days of the summer. I've also heard stories where the AC unit was being worked on and almost caught fire. Luckily, the disconnect was in hand reach. Thank you for your comment, and thanks for watching.

      I've since then switch to a fused disconnect.

    I'm installing a disconnect box for a 230v mini split unit. Adding a 30 amp double poll using 12/3 Romex wire. My question here is, do i cap the neutral wire or where does it go in the disconnect box?

    • @danielball4272
      @danielball4272 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the neutral should just be a run through wire, that goes through the box but has no disconnect, only terminated to the appliance.

  • @jimperea2614
    @jimperea2614 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a green, white and black wire on my run from the receptacle for 50 amp welder to my compressor.I have no way to turn off the compressor except to unplug it which is pretty hard to get to.
    I wired my 230 volt compressor with this wire. I want to cut that wire and put a turn off switch. Your video shows how to do that, correct?

    • @HandymanLand
      @HandymanLand  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I am using the 60 amp disconnect as a switch. This way I don't have to go all the way to the circuit breaker box and cut the power off from there. Now when I need to do maintenance to the tankless water heater, the cut off switches are right next to it.Hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching.

    So regarding the holes is there a tool designed to help pop out the right hole?

    • @HandymanLand
      @HandymanLand  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is a great question. Just the other day I installed, 50Amp 125/250V NEMA 14-50R Power Outlet for an EV charger. For the life of me, I could not pop out the hole. I had to use a aluminium titanium nitride coated step bit.
      Heres the link to that bit - amzn.to/438ypSl
      It worked out great! With this bit you get the perfect size hole. And the set provide a center punch as well.
      Thank you for watching.

    Can you use a 12 2 with that 60 amp disconnect

    • @HandymanLand
      @HandymanLand  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, 20amp breaker, 12-2 wire. Can connect to 60amp non fuse-disconnect. As long as the unit calls for a 20amp breaker, 12-2wire.

    • @eddiepopeyebronx
      @eddiepopeyebronx 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @HandymanLand now I'm replacing it with a 6 2 all the way thru with a non fusible disconnect. Thank you for having this out here, it really helps, thank you

    • @HandymanLand
      @HandymanLand  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @eddiepopeyebronx I'm glad my video can help. The 6/2 line that I have is connected to a 50 amp breaker. It's what my tankless water heater calls for. I do have a newer video on non fuse vs. fusible Disconnects. Perhaps that might help as well.

      @eddiepopeyebronx 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you. It's great how you explained this, and it's what I actually did. I was just saying that the one I replaced had a 6 2 connected to a 12 2 and I thought that was wrong as the 6 2 was running 60 amps
