How to unlock the GameCube for $6 with the SD2SP2 Pro | No solder mod

- I recently purchased the SD2SP2 GameCube accessory that plugs into the GameCube Serial Port 2 under the console - can I get it to work though? If I can I can use it to play GameCube backup files, homebrew, emulators, and more without a mod chip!

Swiss files for memory card adapter:
- Grab the latest release from github.com/emukidid/swiss-gc (called something like swiss_r1622.7z)
- Extract the folder and copy the contents of the "ActionReplay" folder to your old SD card for the memory card adapter
- The action replay should pickup those files and automatically boot into Swiss instead of loading the Action Replay list of games

I was excited about this at first... until I saw all of the B.S. that went in to actually getting it to work.
It's not that hard, just pick up a $10 copy of James Bond, install the save exploit on the memory card, and it'll boot into Swiss right away. You can avoid the whole SD card adapters for the memory card and it takes less than a minute to boot into it. The process in this video is overly complicated lol.
clickbait as this guide is NOT a $6 solution as you had to jump through SEVERAL hoops that were either pricey or just plain hard to find.
I hear you - the thinking is that I wanted to add an action replay and a memory card adapter to my collection anyway for other uses, so the SD2SP2 was the only "net expense". Another commentor mentioned that if you have a modded Wii and want to move a cracked save file onto an actual GC memory card you could launch some custom code as well, so let me know if you're curious to see how that potentially cheaper method would look (which wouldn't require an AR or mem adapter)
Awesome , everyone goes on about GBI but the OG GameCube software for the gamebay player is so cool & nostalgic
Just want to point out, you absolutely do not need the memory card adapter or older SD cards or an Action Replay at all. My setup was only $15 total and I use a 128 gigabyte Micro SD card. I use a save game exploit with a $5 copy of James Bond that allows me to boot into Swiss off the SD2SP2. You need a way to put the save file on the memory card like a modded Wii, but it is a much faster and cheaper process. There's also many games that are able to run an exploit too, so someone may have one in their collection already.
Thanks yea another commenter pointed out that alternate method which I didn't think of while making this video - am considering making a follow-up covering that less expensive method :)
6$ +150 😩
Thanks, I'll continue to emulate on steamdeck then
What are you talking about? I use a 64GB SD card and works perfectly. You just need to format it to FAT32.
The trick I ran into was once the SD card was big enough, Windows didn't offer FAT32 formatting, so to do it properly I had to use the special sequence mentioned. Glad you got to save some headache though!
This is specifically for the Action Replay as they are not designed for anything newer than SD (no SDHC) which is limited to cards 2 gigabytes and smaller in size. Some Wii games like Smash Bros also have this issue, and it's hard coded into the program. The SD2SP2 will accept any size as long as it is FAT32, but older programs like the GameCube media loaders will not.
You didn't even need the Action replay disc or sd memory card adapter! With a modded Wii you can transfer a hacked game save to a game cube memory card with will let that game act as a launcher for Swiss! A little less convinent, but cheaper and you probably already had one of the games you needed!
Good point! I hadn't thought of going that route but probably would have explored it if the cheap Action Replay hadn't popped up so fast in my area - thanks for the tip!
What's the Action Replay code, and what do we put on the SD card? You missed some stuff...
Totally forgot to add that haha - just updated the description with those steps and files link :)
Why not just get a used Wii.
If you don't have the game boy advance player, there is literally no downside to a modded Wii.
The Wii has better 480p cables from hyperkin. Work perfectly to HDMI.
A modded Wii is definitely a solid bet - I've had mine modded for about 15 years and I agree it's extremely useful. This mod was unique for me since I like the nostalgia of playing backup files on actual GameCube hardware
So much waiting...so much darkness. When will delivery be faster, only time will tell...

I recent was given a rough GC, cleaned it up and got it working. I have the PICO-Mod someone did on the nice flat ribbon, haven't installed it yet though, the new solder free mod came out a week after mine came in the mail lol.
Definitely some cool things that can be done with the pico - I just got one in the mail for another upcoming video so I bet you'll find a use for it soon haha
@@CoulterPeterson I'm really hoping someone makes an Ultimate Xbox Modchip or the World Definitely Needs a PICO Dreamcast Mod!
Utter bull...ive a 128gb sd in my gc formated as fat32.....
