Oh yeah, I'll be able to do it once the GC Loader arrives AND once I get a GB Player (back in the day I wasn't interested because I hardly had GB games or GBA at all, on GB at best I had Pokemon, and GBA... well, it took me a while to actually get one, but nowdays I'll try to get a GB Player, boot disk is irrelevant for me if it comes or not, and I think I managed to find one that is not very expensive).
Thanks for the guide. It was helpful. One thing to mention or point out that the instructions here using the save game exploit is specific for SSBM. The SSBM exploit will boot Swiss (as boot.dol) from a SD card in the Gecko. Other game exploits do not allow this. This can allow for use of a smaller memory card if needed. The other save game exploits I have tried (specifically Wind Waker and Twilight Princess) require Swiss (as boot.gci) to be copied to the memory card and will not boot from the SD Card. This requires a larger Memory Card but then does not necessarily require a SDGecko. Once you have Swiss booted. You can load isos and other home brew off of a SD Gecko or a SD2SP2. Also the 2GB SD Card limit that is mentioned in many guides and videos is specific to the Action Replay. The SD Gecko can use larger memory cards. I have a 128GB card that works fine in the SD Gecko.
so if i'm using twilight princess i shouldn't have my sd gecko or sd2sp2 in my gamecube? I been having issues trying to get the game save exploit to work(f-zero gx method but i do own twilight princess). i have tried the twilight princess method and still no luck, it just freezes on the file select screen. i really don't know what i'm doing wrong.
@@SpaghettiJoBayBay You can have your Gecko and sd2sp2 in your Gamecube, but Swiss needs to be on the memory card in Slot A (and named boot.gci) along with the savegame explot file. It cannot be on an SD Card. Basically these exploits are trying to run boot.gci from the memory card and will freeze if it cannot find it. This will not work with the small 59 block memory card as it's too small. Once Swiss is running though, you can load any software from the Gecko, or from the sd2sp2. A Gecko is not even needed in this case (but is good to have). For whatever reason, the SSBM exploit works differently and will try to run Swiss (as boot.dol) from the Gecko and not the memory card.
Great video! I bought a dol-001 GameCube today, and much to my surprise it does not have a serial port 2. Apparently this was left out from some gamecubes to cut cost.

For me personnaly I would go the Action Replay route... yes it's more costly but the least complicated as I don't know how to solder and I don't want to keep configuring files as I've had bad experiences with soft modding any consoles in the past! Still as confused as I was before. Just tell us in simple plain language. Do we need to combine the SD2SP2 with the Memory Card SD Card adapter and the action replay disc or not? This is so confusing. Just this confusion alone makes it worth it to go for the GC Loader method even if it’s expensive.
Öhm a hint. When you place the current Version of swiss on the micro sd card as boot.dol and Boot the swiss DVD it found the file and start the current Version. No need to burn every New version

@@ayebo15 first to read a non nintendo disc the gc needs a chip on it that enable it. Action replay disc doesnt follow that. A xenogc is cheap for reading burned discs. I would buy a chip and a burned swiss disc on aliexpress and you would be under 10€. Gc disc burning is a bit Trick and to get disc for burning is hard these days. Swiss can access any memory card in slot B or the sd2sp2. But it was at a spezifik Version that introduce sd2sp2. And you can switch the source

What i dont understand using the modded wii version is this. When i have opened swiss will i not be able to acess my old save file anymore and cant i swap the sd card back to my wii now ?
@@alanyt0847 yea there's xbox one homebrew. At the time it was difficult, ps3 and wii was easier. By the time it was reachable without hardware modchips the next generation was out. 360s with cfw are expensive cuz not a whole lot of ppl did it.

Question if anyone can help. I'm trying to do the Save Game exploit. I do have a modded Wii I softmodded way back in 2011/2012. I no longer have the SD card I used to mod it, but do have a new SD card for it. The will still has the homebrew channel on the menu. My question, do I need any files on that SD card for the homebrew channel other than apps? Also the wii is version 4.1 if that matters.
i'm having zero luck with the save exploit. I have tried two games F-Zero GX and Zelda Twilight Princess and they both crash. I tried naming the dol to boot, i tried without naming the dol to boot, i tried the compressed dol, i tired older versions. i'm just having no luck getting this to work. I have the sd gecko and sd2sp2 and both methods still don't work, i'm not confident in hard modding and the GCLoader is almost never in stock.
They are pretty good, at least, I have had good luck with them. I would just recommend you go for the wire install instead of the direct solder method. I know you have the skills no problem, but if its your first time its a bit easier to do it like that. Also, if you can find someone from the states selling them on ebay I would go down that path. The ones from China I recently ordered took 2 months thanks to Covid, lol.

It sure is!! Its been a while but as I recall I got it when it pretty much first came out. I was a bit surprised it was not the -0-00 version of the game. Now the case, if I recall, I lost and replaced with this one at some point, but its been 5 or 6 years since I did so I am not 100% sure how that all happened, lol Even if you dont do it, its good to know. There is a couple other things I want to share in this same vein and I think it might make you reconsider :)

Can you use swiss with only the Sd2sp2 and xeno mod chip? Because I'd like to be able to transfer data from my english memory card to my JP one without having to format them. I heard that Swiss bypasses the region lock on memory cards.
so I'm a little confused , do I have to get the action replay (asking cuz 100$ kinda pricey), I'm just looking for a cheap way to get swiss and gbi, if I got say wind waker could I use it to boot into swiss then have swiss save the swiss boot file to the SD card adaptor so I don't have to use wind waker each time if I have a xeno mod chip installed?
I named it boot.dol, but when the exploit hits - it just goes back to the Gamecube screen for the melee exploit. For the windwaker one, it freezes the screen. Swiss never loads... This is a day one launch NTSC Gamecube. I'm using the 2D2SP2, and feel like it's not making good contact when plugging into serial port 2... Also I tried the newest swiss version, as well as r845 as in your video. Tried 128 GB and 16 GB SD cards - both FAT32. I'm thinking either the 2D2SP2 was broke on arrival, or my gamecube port 2 is broke. I eve soldered a little on the SD2SP2 pads to make them thicker to make contact - no effect. Alright the reason was I had to put "boot.gci" on the memory card along with the exploit .gci file, while having "boot.dol" on the SD card in the SD2SP2. Not sure if I just missed that in the video.
Does anyone know if the EU action replay will work on a US or Canadian GC I can't find a US action replay very well online and seem to only find the EU version

Not sure if you care any more but I actually have an old Action replay as well and just went thru a bunch of searching and trial and error and actually got it working where you can boot Swiss either right from the GCMC or the SD2SP2/Gecko. You will have to have a modded wii to do it but I have all the .dol and .gci files you need to make it happen and it works great. You Boot AR, Start Game, Open/Close lid and SWISS boots in seconds. I have files to make it work with Gecko or SD2SP2 and large SD cards. The only issue is you have to use an actual Nintendo brand MC but if you boot SWISS from the SD card you can use a 59 block GCMC for the AR boot card. I found no one else that had done this with AR/Swiss (probably no one cared) but I was sort of on a personal mission to figure it out and lucked out by finding a .zip with some old tools used to get CGOS (launcher before swiss) booted and made some tweaks off that to get Swiss to load from the MC (or any .dol really). If you want to mess with it let me know and I can easily email a .zip file with everything you need.
Yes it is, those are just the two I have the most experience with and can safely recommend. Other brands exist and may work and some may work well but I don't use them so it makes it very hard for me to recommend.

2GB slower cards is a limitation of the Action Replay. The Gecko can use larger memory cards (my 128GB card worked). You can also get the sd2sp2 for a few bucks and use that.

Why not just use Nintendont on Wii? That is actually the better choice as it has been developed out for eons, offers more options like non GC controllers, forced video modes, shrunk/compressed isos and memory card emulation. You can run your games right from the SD or USB (fat32) and if you use on WiiU you can run cube games on the gamepad which looks awesome. SWISS is pretty great as a GC launcher but if you have a wii/wiiu mod it and run Nintendont
Have no sd2sp2 port. If I get the memory card adapter do I need to sd cards? One 2gb to boot Swiss n the other to swap out to have software. I have xeno chip installed but no way to test or boot swiss lol.
If you already I have a xeno installed I would go with the first method where you burn a swiss dvd boot disc and then all you need is a single SD card, load it up, and memory card to sd card converter and you're all set!
Do you really need an SD at all for the save game exploit? I used GCMM and a regular USB drive to transfer the exploit save file to the memory card, so I boot up to the GBi instantly using Wind Waker. I never used Swiss before, but wouldn't the result be the same?

I don't think it's possible to play Xbox, PC, or PS2 games on the GameCube. The GameCube can emulate other consoles though. You would be better off just getting a powerful PC to emulate most consoles but it would be expensive to build unfortunately.

I would take a look at the video, there are multiple soft mod solutions without the need for a hard mod. Having said that, hard mod is the easier, IMO.

The save game exploit works only to the point where a game notices that it's a save file when i try to load the game or with mario sunshine PAL save exploit just start the game with 50Hz mode it always freezes/crashes but doesnt boot into swiss. What am i doing wrong??
I'm not much help as I've never tried that exploit. Do you happen to have any of the other games you can use the game save exploit for? Also might want to double check the install instructions to make sure its the same as melee
Do i need only the boot.dol on SDgecko and the save on the real memory card and it *should* work? UPDATE: Yep now got it working. Had to put the boot.GCI into the memory card with GCMM This has been hell. There's almost no guide at all that tells you what to do every single guide expects you to understand everything beforehand.

Ok just confirmed the game save exploit will not not boot off the sd2sp2. You will unfortunately need a memorycard to sd card converter to use the game save exploit or will need a mod chip to boot and then load off the sd2sp2.

is there a discord or something for this channel or someone who knows about controllers I'm a smash player semi-competitive never have gone to a tournament never attended online one either. I am a robin main who has never felt a genuine GameCube controller so I bought one. I got an adapter and got a 35 dollar spice orange Gamecube controller. The thumb stick was pretty beat up but I just planned on replacing it with a battle beaver one. a week later a package came to my house. (my friends were over at the time this was December) when I opened it the thumbstick was trash it felt like someone took a glue stick and rubbed it on it, but that was ok because I had a replacement part. But then I realized that the stick was one of those wobbly sticks that didn't snap back to the center as I expected. I was so upset and just out smash down for a few months. now in like June, my friends started to come over outside and I brought my switch outside because of the virus. Then I remembered oh yeah I still have a crap controller. So I got a battle beaver replacement stick box, and some custom buttons because, why not. Five days later so about yesterday from the time of posting this it arrived. I opened It and of course, there had to be something wrong and there was an extra circuit board attached to potentiometers, and the stick box. I was panicking like oh no here we go again but then I noticed why don't I desotter the replacement part then desotter the broken stick on the controller so I got to work desottered all 10 points on each stick and I gotta say they were. then I tried to pull them out pretty clean for my first time. Then I pulled on it I wiggled it nothing I tried, again and again, nothing not even a wiggle I gave up and just started to put my controller back to whether when idiotic me bumped my finger into the sotter iron lol. anyways I have many questions like is there a clip on the stick box or why is there a circuit board watched to stick on a battle beaver metal housing replacement stick box or did I not desttoer enough I'm so confused should I get a knock off one and take the stick? I swear i have had many failed DIY projects like this and a lot of money wasted I just want one success so if you can help plz reply or something.
Hi Rocker, I'm currently trying to do the Save game exploit, but unfortunately I only own a Wii U and not a Wii. When I get to the part where you need to insert the SD card with the homebrew apps and the memory card, I'm kinda stuck. As the Wii U doesn't have a port for any memory cards of course. I've tried using an USB and put the micro SD where the homebrew apps are on, then put the 2 GB Transcend SD card for the memory card into the (only) SD card slot in the Wii U. Unfortunately this doesn't work. Do you know of any possible way to still do this exploit with the Wii U? Or is the owning the Wii a must for this?
You are going to have to have a Wii (original model) with the GCMC slots to be able to do the transfer. You can now buy a Swiss prepared card off ebay for about $15 (I got mine recently with and SD2SP2 for $20). The only way to do it directly on the Cube was either thru an old hack that used the network adapter and PSO (I did that about 15 years ago) or if you have an Action Replay or AR Media loader then you can get Swiss up via an SD Gecko.

Shame the prices for Action Replay discs on eBay are crazy. I chose to go the Wind Waker route though so it should be ok.

I am just getting into Modding the GC, so i have some questions:
1. If a burn swiss on a DVD i will not need the Action Replay DVD right?
2. If i use a burned swiss on DVD can i load ISOs from the SD-Card (max. 2GB) and from the SD2SP2(more then 2GB)?

I'm still working on a portable GameCube even though I have a portable Wii, (just something I love about the GameCube). I have two or three WiiKey fusion/WASP DD replacement chips but never understood how Swiss worked until your video. Thanks for the information and the awesome video!! :)

Does the GameCube support 1024GB/1TB micro SD card?
Question if anyone can help. I'm trying to do the Save Game exploit. I do have a modded Wii I softmodded way back in 2011/2012. I no longer have the SD card I used to mod it, but do have a new SD card for it. The will still has the homebrew channel on the menu.
My question, do I need any files on that SD card for the homebrew channel other than apps? Also the wii is version 4.1 if that matters.
i'm having zero luck with the save exploit. I have tried two games F-Zero GX and Zelda Twilight Princess and they both crash. I tried naming the dol to boot, i tried without naming the dol to boot, i tried the compressed dol, i tired older versions. i'm just having no luck getting this to work. I have the sd gecko and sd2sp2 and both methods still don't work, i'm not confident in hard modding and the GCLoader is almost never in stock.

They are pretty good, at least, I have had good luck with them. I would just recommend you go for the wire install instead of the direct solder method. I know you have the skills no problem, but if its your first time its a bit easier to do it like that. Also, if you can find someone from the states selling them on ebay I would go down that path. The ones from China I recently ordered took 2 months thanks to Covid, lol.

So.... say I just wanna play Game Cube games I used to have but cant afford to replace but my Game Cube is a later model without the 3rd port on the bottom and not Digital out on the back .Would the Memory Card Adapter still work?

It sure is!! Its been a while but as I recall I got it when it pretty much first came out. I was a bit surprised it was not the -0-00 version of the game. Now the case, if I recall, I lost and replaced with this one at some point, but its been 5 or 6 years since I did so I am not 100% sure how that all happened, lol

Can you use swiss with only the Sd2sp2 and xeno mod chip? Because I'd like to be able to transfer data from my english memory card to my JP one without having to format them. I heard that Swiss bypasses the region lock on memory cards.

I named it boot.dol, but when the exploit hits - it just goes back to the Gamecube screen for the melee exploit. For the windwaker one, it freezes the screen. Swiss never loads... This is a day one launch NTSC Gamecube. I'm using the 2D2SP2, and feel like it's not making good contact when plugging into serial port 2... Also I tried the newest swiss version, as well as r845 as in your video. Tried 128 GB and 16 GB SD cards - both FAT32. I'm thinking either the 2D2SP2 was broke on arrival, or my gamecube port 2 is broke. I eve soldered a little on the SD2SP2 pads to make them thicker to make contact - no effect.
Alright the reason was I had to put "boot.gci" on the memory card along with the exploit .gci file, while having "boot.dol" on the SD card in the SD2SP2. Not sure if I just missed that in the video.

SD2SP2 is not required if you have the SD to memory card adapter.
i will never understand why you would ever want the GCLoader, like, why would you ever want to replace your disc drive in it’s entirety with an SD card slot? it just makes no sense to me
Because you don’t need the disk drive when your loading them from an sd card? The question is why would you want to load disk when you don’t have to?

you dont need any of the other files in the zip folder, just the one that corresponds to how you intend to launch swiss.

Not sure if you care any more but I actually have an old Action replay as well and just went thru a bunch of searching and trial and error and actually got it working where you can boot Swiss either right from the GCMC or the SD2SP2/Gecko. You will have to have a modded wii to do it but I have all the .dol and .gci files you need to make it happen and it works great. You Boot AR, Start Game, Open/Close lid and SWISS boots in seconds. I have files to make it work with Gecko or SD2SP2 and large SD cards. The only issue is you have to use an actual Nintendo brand MC but if you boot SWISS from the SD card you can use a 59 block GCMC for the AR boot card. I found no one else that had done this with AR/Swiss (probably no one cared) but I was sort of on a personal mission to figure it out and lucked out by finding a .zip with some old tools used to get CGOS (launcher before swiss) booted and made some tweaks off that to get Swiss to load from the MC (or any .dol really). If you want to mess with it let me know and I can easily email a .zip file with everything you need.
Is there a particular reason you go with Philips or Ridata brand dvd-r for the boot disc? Is it possible to use a different brand disc?
Yes it is, those are just the two I have the most experience with and can safely recommend. Other brands exist and may work and some may work well but I don't use them so it makes it very hard for me to recommend.

2GB slower cards is a limitation of the Action Replay. The Gecko can use larger memory cards (my 128GB card worked). You can also get the sd2sp2 for a few bucks and use that.

Why not just use Nintendont on Wii? That is actually the better choice as it has been developed out for eons, offers more options like non GC controllers, forced video modes, shrunk/compressed isos and memory card emulation. You can run your games right from the SD or USB (fat32) and if you use on WiiU you can run cube games on the gamepad which looks awesome. SWISS is pretty great as a GC launcher but if you have a wii/wiiu mod it and run Nintendont

Have no sd2sp2 port. If I get the memory card adapter do I need to sd cards? One 2gb to boot Swiss n the other to swap out to have software. I have xeno chip installed but no way to test or boot swiss lol.
If you already I have a xeno installed I would go with the first method where you burn a swiss dvd boot disc and then all you need is a single SD card, load it up, and memory card to sd card converter and you're all set!
Do you really need an SD at all for the save game exploit? I used GCMM and a regular USB drive to transfer the exploit save file to the memory card, so I boot up to the GBi instantly using Wind Waker. I never used Swiss before, but wouldn't the result be the same?
Result would be the same sd card or USB drive to transfer the save file exploit via gcmm will yield the same result.

I don't think it's possible to play Xbox, PC, or PS2 games on the GameCube. The GameCube can emulate other consoles though. You would be better off just getting a powerful PC to emulate most consoles but it would be expensive to build unfortunately.

I would take a look at the video, there are multiple soft mod solutions without the need for a hard mod. Having said that, hard mod is the easier, IMO.

@@RockerGaming ok I seen this and I was still lost at first because there is another Swiss updated download which has everything and no dol file but I eventually found a download and I'm trying as we speak...wish me luck. Because all I mainly want to do is to be able to have access to all of my backup gc Roms and The Game Boy interface I already have the GBA everdrive.
The save game exploit works only to the point where a game notices that it's a save file when i try to load the game or with mario sunshine PAL save exploit just start the game with 50Hz mode it always freezes/crashes but doesnt boot into swiss. What am i doing wrong??
I'm not much help as I've never tried that exploit. Do you happen to have any of the other games you can use the game save exploit for? Also might want to double check the install instructions to make sure its the same as melee

Ok just confirmed the game save exploit will not not boot off the sd2sp2. You will unfortunately need a memorycard to sd card converter to use the game save exploit or will need a mod chip to boot and then load off the sd2sp2.
@@RockerGaming i did some digging of my own and found that you can use a boot.gci of swiss and put it on the same memory card as the game save exploit and i got it running on my gamecube with f zero gx so now i just need to get the sd2sp2 to boot my game backups

is there a discord or something for this channel or someone who knows about controllers I'm a smash player semi-competitive never have gone to a tournament never attended online one either. I am a robin main who has never felt a genuine GameCube controller so I bought one. I got an adapter and got a 35 dollar spice orange Gamecube controller. The thumb stick was pretty beat up but I just planned on replacing it with a battle beaver one. a week later a package came to my house. (my friends were over at the time this was December) when I opened it the thumbstick was trash it felt like someone took a glue stick and rubbed it on it, but that was ok because I had a replacement part. But then I realized that the stick was one of those wobbly sticks that didn't snap back to the center as I expected. I was so upset and just out smash down for a few months.
now in like June, my friends started to come over outside and I brought my switch outside because of the virus. Then I remembered oh yeah I still have a crap controller. So I got a battle beaver replacement stick box, and some custom buttons because, why not. Five days later so about yesterday from the time of posting this it arrived. I opened It and of course, there had to be something wrong and there was an extra circuit board attached to potentiometers, and the stick box. I was panicking like oh no here we go again but then I noticed why don't I desotter the replacement part then desotter the broken stick on the controller so I got to work desottered all 10 points on each stick and I gotta say they were. then I tried to pull them out pretty clean for my first time. Then I pulled on it I wiggled it nothing I tried, again and again, nothing not even a wiggle I gave up and just started to put my controller back to whether when idiotic me bumped my finger into the sotter iron lol. anyways I have many questions like is there a clip on the stick box or why is there a circuit board watched to stick on a battle beaver metal housing replacement stick box or did I not desttoer enough I'm so confused should I get a knock off one and take the stick? I swear i have had many failed DIY projects like this and a lot of money wasted I just want one success so if you can help plz reply or something.
Hi Rocker, I'm currently trying to do the Save game exploit, but unfortunately I only own a Wii U and not a Wii. When I get to the part where you need to insert the SD card with the homebrew apps and the memory card, I'm kinda stuck. As the Wii U doesn't have a port for any memory cards of course. I've tried using an USB and put the micro SD where the homebrew apps are on, then put the 2 GB Transcend SD card for the memory card into the (only) SD card slot in the Wii U. Unfortunately this doesn't work. Do you know of any possible way to still do this exploit with the Wii U? Or is the owning the Wii a must for this?
You are going to have to have a Wii (original model) with the GCMC slots to be able to do the transfer. You can now buy a Swiss prepared card off ebay for about $15 (I got mine recently with and SD2SP2 for $20). The only way to do it directly on the Cube was either thru an old hack that used the network adapter and PSO (I did that about 15 years ago) or if you have an Action Replay or AR Media loader then you can get Swiss up via an SD Gecko.
