I have that fabric with the bike on, it’s so beautiful! ❤
It’s gorgeous isn’t it - what are you thinking of making with it x
@@SewLikeDotty thinking of the so seiena dress from their e book but think that will be next summer now !
@@sarahheeks4050 ooo nice choice
the selection of fabrics and all the notions are fab. A trip to Blythe is on the cards. Thanks for sharing x
Definitely worth the trip
Well if Scarborough was enticing Blythe is like 5 miles away so I see a trip for me in the not too distant future...... those Nerida Hanson fabrics look awesome and the Dobbie is so cheap. I paid a LOT more for some I bought online.❤😎❤
You will love it Sue x
I live in the south east, so no Boyes here. I wish we did have, the prices are fantastic.
Let’s raise a petition
So envious of the selection, prices and the jaunt to the beach. What a lovely day!
It really was a lovely day
When you went past the ‘conversational’ print in Boyes I went oooo that’s nice! And then you bought it. 😀
We’re planning a trip to York later in the year and will definitely be diverting to take in a Boyes - haven’t let my Hubbly know yet. 🤣😱 He’ll be fine with it 🤞🤞😀
Ooo York is lovely there’s 2 Boyes stores 1 is near the Minster, Dutton’s For Buttons and I think there may very well be another fabric shop 🥰
@@SewLikeDotty excellent- thanks for the tip!
So jealous. In Canada those fabrics are minimum $26 per metre
Feeling very lucky x
Love Boyes didn't know there was a one in Blyth next time I'm in North East will have a look .Alison two and a half meters @ £3 is £7-50 😆
I know my excitement just stopped my brain from working 😂😂😂 it only opened last Friday
That dress fabric is fabulous! I'm looking g forward to seeing your dress!
Thank you! 😊
I really fancy a trip to the Blyth Boyes! It's only about 15 miles from me. I've got to get out of this plain blue rut I'm in!
Definitely worth it Liz
Good old Boyes! Our store in Barton upon Humber is great. Only a small store so not such a big selection but can usually get what I need. Staff member Ellie is a sewer and very knowledgeable.
It’s great to have someone who knows their stuff
Thanks for sharing your trip to Blyth, what an amazing Boyes, I love your fabrics especially the last fabric you shared. I was at Boyes in Blaydon on Wednesday and was very disappointed with the choice of fabrics, they had no where near as much as the Blyth store, no Nerida Hansen at all and I only seen one fabric that I liked which I bought to toile a Patina shirt, it was only £4 a metre. ❤
I’m going tomorrow but I don’t need anymore fabric - do you believe me 🤣
@@SewLikeDotty Erm, nope, I don’t believe you 🤣🤣
😂
Great selection of fabrics. How do you decide how much to buy if you are not sure what you are going to make? The conversational print fabric is fabulous
I generally have an idea 3 m for a dress sometimes 4 - pants 2.5, top 2m
I mostly where dresses so a lot of my stash is 3 m
Depends on the fabric width too
@@SewLikeDotty Thanks Alison that’s really helpful
Love, love the fabrics and you are right the last one is perfect!
Glad you like them! They are all cut out and work in progress
My local Boyes (north Nottinghamshire) has fabric, but nothing on that scale. I usually get my thread and interfacing and buttons, but have only found one fabric, a viscose, that took my fancy a few weeks ago, of which I bought a metre just to try it.
Awe no wonder why they vary so much
Thanks Alison , enjoyed your shopping trip.
Thanks 😊
Perfect holiday wear fabrics, hope you get them sewn in time. 😊
It’s work in progress …….
You've cheered me up this morning Alison. ❤
Awe that’s good I think 🤔
This looks very like Joanne’s in Huston. I was in love.with this store.
I’m always jealous when I see what people get at Joanne’s 😂
Thank you Alison,I loved sharing your shopping trip and how I wish there was a Boyes near me. I think the last fabric is absolutely gorgeous and nd perfect for a holiday dress.I can’t wait to see what you make with it.🌹🌹🌹
Thank you 😊 it’s 1/2 made ….
Once again lovely fabric. Especially love the holiday fabric. I can’t believe the prices. You make dressmaking real fun. Hope Karl got his t shirt 😂
Thank you! He didn’t but he carried my fabric 😂
Hi Alison, the Narida Hansen cotton voile fabric matches the colour of your nails 😀 xxx
It’s soooo lovely
Lovely cheerful video. i keep picking that fun viscose up in Blaydon then can't imagine what I would make in it and put it down!!!! Can't wait to see your dress. I think Jen Legg made a blouse in it at one point, I still haven't ruled it out. Boyes at Blaydon is messy and not half as many fabrics but always worth a look, also the Curtain Store at Blaydon has a haberdashery and lots of beautiful fabrics, not just for curtains. Have a good Sunday x
Get it Helen I’ve half seen it and it’s gorgeous
Scene w bike is fabulous!!!❤❤❤
Love it
Love your fabrics Allison 😍
Thanks 😊
Did you find the penguin shirt?! Fabrics are fabulous...and what bargains!!!
No they didn’t have any- he carried my fabric though 😂
That’s a great selection of everything for sewing and knitting. Doesn’t everything look good and pristine. .
It’s probably one of the best I’ve been in
I made a Lottta dress in that city fabric a couple of months ago. I bought fabric from Simple Life Fabrics it’s just fabulous
Couldn’t resist it x
I've just been to Boyes in Blyth after watching your vlog. A lady was on the phone asking about the converstational print & asking if they could post it to Bradford! They don't do online sales. I did wonder if she had watched this vlog too? 😂
Awe I wonder if she does it’s a John louden print it’s available online elsewhere
Forgot to ask - what did you get 😂
I got Cord to make a bag & some cotton lawn. I had to stop myself buying any more 😂
They have loads of nice stuff I don’t think it will be long before I’m back there 🤦♀️
Lovely fabric.☺️x.
Thank you! 😊
Hi Alison. I’m loving your vlogs. Your fabric choices are inspiring! I’m coming down to Gateshead to visit family at the end of the month. To Birtley to be precise. I looked up the nearest Boyes and it’s Chester Le Street. Have you by any chance been there to know if it sells fabric?
They do but I’ve not been , South Shields does too that’s probably closer to Gateshead
If it’s a Saturday there’s a fabric stall on South Shields market - I’ve not been as I’m at work
1st for fabrics isn’t far either but check their opening hours 😊
@@SewLikeDotty I didn’t know about the market stall . Thanks so much for the info. X
@sewingobsessed no bother hope it’s a worthwhile trip
Hi Alison you can’t beat shopping in Boyes ☺️ I’ve got the holiday fabric too from there but I can’t believe they’ve got the Nerida Hansen 😳 happy sewing 🥰
Straight up the A19 for you - sounds like a road trip !!!
@@SewLikeDotty I think it does 🥰
We're hoping to visit a boyes when we do a weekend in Harrogate, train to Yorkshire maybe? Love that fun fabric x
Not sure if there’s one there - York might be the closest I think
Love the holiday material. Coming to Newcastle soon so off to Blyth Boyes. Xx
Ooooo excellent 👌
Can we have a Boyes in Suffolk please?! Looked wonderful.
Let’s make a petition !!!
I don't have a Boyes near me 😢 Looks like an amazing shop.
You name it they sell it 😂
😢😢😢..no Boyes in the south .. lovely video.
Strange isn’t it
Does it get any better than fabric shopping, then a trip to the beach?! All you need is a cup of tea! When you skimmed past that holiday fabric, I was shouting in my head, STOP! Oh my, I love that fabric. My first thought was a jacket/coat, but your idea of a dress is great! I impressed my self yesterday when I went to the fabric store and just bought the thread I needed and not even wondering around to look at and touch the fabric! Oh polyester, so annoying to see a print you want but in that dreaded fabric. I found that when I hit menopause it was a definite no no. There is a little town about 1 hour from where I live in Ontario Canada, also a Blyth. It has summer theater and a brewery. The brewery has a restaurant that serves the best wood fired pizza and a lovely patio to enjoy that pizza and a beverage. It isn't a beach town, but it's not a long drive to a Lake Huron Beach. Enjoy your holiday. Oh, the white dobby fabric will make a lovely top.
Polyester is just a no go isn’t it
- your Blyth sounds lovely xx
xXX👍👍👍
