Excellent vintage automotive forensics going on here. I think you've got it figured out perfectly. That's an amazing car and it found the best care taker. Thanks for the videos.
These videos take me back to my college years, rebuilding my 63 in moms garage. It was 1975, the headlight trim ring (chrome plated brass) was $75, and the glass was$100 from Jaguar.
@@drewscherz2476 The one without the remote amp is easier to install. It looks very close to the original but if you are going for complete originality, then seek the Frankfurt US -X like Chuck did.
Another great watch from the University of E Types. I am so excited for you finding out so much about this car. Looking forward to seeing it on the road!
Very good video chuck. I have the original tools and jack. The owner found them about 2 years later under a bench in his garage and called me. He had thrown away the bag and made his own. Interestingly , the original jack is painted black instead of gray. The vinyl bag has a tear but intact. I had to get a machine shop to straighten out a bend at the end where the jack attaches.
Great project & look forward to future videos. My '68 OTS has an 8 track radio that plays great & over the last 35 years I've made some changes but overall keeping Her somewhat original.
Thank You, Drew! You know, I actually did know that, but I think I forgot! But I know what you are talking about and you are right - those early seats do technically have a reclining feature in that they have those two settings when you flip that little thing. Thanks for pointing that out! - Chuck :-)
@@monocoquemetalworks88 Chuck, right, yeah it’s not much, but I use it. Love your panels. My body guy did my driver side sill and used your outer sill and inside support bracket.
Hi Chuck. Can you just take the seat base from the later seat and swap it ? Who ever fitted the radio in mine did know where to drill the hole . But like you , no radio ! In England we would have fitted Radiomobile MW / LW . l do recall seeing a Philips Radio /Casette in a '66 we had in for paintwork but that was I '70/'71 so probably non original . And is the Europa a twin cam or Renault engined ? I'll be glued into lots of your channel . Thanks Chuck .
Thanks for the vote of confidence! LOL - no, I do not restore BMW motorcycles, although the guy who does my sandblasting has several and loves those old BMW bikes! - Chuck :-)
Adam - I'm working on the seats now, and I think it is actually going to come down to that - I think I'm going to end up using less than the whole bottom of the donor seat. Working on softening them up now - Stay tuned! - Chuck :-)
You can repair that seat base by getting a thin leather liner glued to the underside then restore the upper leather and re stitch it, got to retain that leather its history
Thank You - yes, I did notice that - and it is one of the small repairs that Bill wrote down in the notebook that came with the car. So while I would like to have a set of originals, it's actually kind of more fun to know... "Dec. 2, 1967 - 3 wiper blades - #800-12" - $3.33" - so I will probably leave those on there, but I will keep you in mind - Thank You! :-)

its a pleasure to listen to someone who knows what they are talking about , another great video thanks
Very informative from a well informed guy
Looks like you're collecting all the right parts and pieces. I'm watching this with great anticipation.
I need the same radio Chuck does. Not too worried about finding one right now, but keeping my eyes open.

What a clean garage!!! I can barely get mine in my garage.
It keeps getting better and better
I seem to recognize quite a few of your commenters, Chuck! Great video!
Way to go on the details Chuck. Most E-types don't even have a radio. So this video is quite unique.
Sub'd. Awesome car. I just bought a '68, my first E.

Chuck, flip the little L shaped tab at the bottom on the sides of your 67 seats and they will recline slightly.
Thank You, Drew! You know, I actually did know that, but I think I forgot! Wow, I'd totally trust you with a restoration. Do you do BMW Motorcycles?

personally i would repair those seats with similar leather insetted where required.

Man you sound and look somewhat like the actor Tom Hanks
E Types don't need a radio, the music comes out of the exhaust pipe.
My drresm car 🚗
Those Amco wiper blades are not original.
I have a supply of original blades if you are interested.
