Just finished watching this from start to finish. I love your approach and honesty through the process especially when it comes to the hours spent on each part. Brilliant. Now I’ve gotta head out to the shed and add a heap more hours to the 800 or so I’ve already spent on my ‘70 E Type 😂. Great channel guys 👍🍻
You are my new favorite automotive channel on TH-cam. Would love to hear a little more about your backgrounds and how you started the shop together and what your plans for it in the future are. Can't wait to see more e-type videos. Great content.
Thank you Zaze, hopefully the channel will keep growing so we can do more and more extravagant builds, we have lots going on in the shop so there will be more restoration content coming soon 🍻🤙🏼
fantastic result. Usually I leave the lower control arm fulcrum in as, especially with a steel bonnet, the weight of the bonnet can slightly crush the picture frame and change the dims. Also like to the check fit the chrome door finishers as they always need work to seat well.
Cheers Richard thanks for watching , yeah with a steel bonnet we put spacers in the bottom of the picture frame 🤙🏻 this car isn’t having the door top trims 👍🏻🍻
Absolutely fantastic, amazing work, makes you realise the skill and work that goes Into a car of that standard, I expect a very happy customer. Keep the videos coming 👏👏
Very, very nice and shiny... that's the way to have a perfect paint job!!! Great job on the paint but also on the modifications...fits well to e-type. Owner must be very happy...
This is the first time I have seen anyone lay down what you called a drop coat, as you said there are a lot of ways to paint a car so for me it was really interesting to see the eventual finish when done your way.
Been following this series and found it one of the best of its kind..All the aspects being taken in ..When my Cortina Mk 1 is near to competition ,say next Spring i will be carrying out your techniques in my rented accommodation driveway .lol
Wonderful, 1st class work, thanks for taking the time to share. I came here looking for the actual spraying, if possible, perhaps time lapse that part much less in future vids. (For the folks who don't like it, they can always skip).
Efffffffiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnng awesome!!! I've restored a number of cars in my life. I've seen my share of shoddy and my share of good body work. This is next level. How did I only find your channel now? Absolute 😍
@@Charlies-Classic-Custom No worries , a lot depends on the the clear you use i suppose some respond well with 3000's but i find with some off the high solids it help for more clarity if you leave it to cure for to long . Anyway fantastic work 👌
Great vid. Tried some hand sanding of orange peel sanding myself but always seem to see a few little tiny scratches if I titl my head down and look at an angle. Hw do I get these out? Maybe I need an air-DA with 3000 pads?
when you say "drop coat" do you mean you are spraying the side panels vertically of horizontally? And when you say lacquer clear coat to finish do you mean actual "lacquer" or catalysed clear coat, or is that the same thing?
Hi Arthur, yes we flick the drop coat adjacent to the panel so it is just a light dust coat landing on the car, the clear coat is PPG 2K lacquer mixed 3:1 with catalyst
Love the colour and the finish is superb Charlie. Are you using water basecoat or solvent, I'm guessing solvent.👍. Btw,would love too see more metalwork, that Aston Martin was hanging judging by the first pictures.
Cheers, yes this one was solvent but we use water base as well normally if a colour has been discontinued in PPG solvent, yeah the Aston was bad unfortunately we weren't filming at that point but we have more in the pipe line 🤙🏼
Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!
@@Charlies-Classic-Custom Do you price on hours or individual jobs? Also in the descriptions on the videos can you list the products used as Its always nice to see what you’re using, recommend and if they differ from job to job. It’s always good to see imo how other painters work. The red Alfa job showed (especially to other trades and customers) just how long and Labour intensive (450Hrs) a proper job on a car shell takes. Great work👍👍
A true craftsman ! Thanks Charlie
Cheers James 🍻
Stunning result ! Great presentation style too.
FANtastic job chaps what a tremendous result well done !
Stunning work. Well done gents.

Much appreciated! Mister Fox 🤙🏼
super paint job. really works on the E-Type...
Thanks 👍
Plus a German Shepherd Dog to see as a bonus as well..

Fantastic work guys! I think your inclination to start your clear coats with a lighter grip coat was spot on. Cheers.

Ade, get that man a smoke after finishing that! Looks seriously nice!
Haha yeah he'll be happy with that 🤪

There's always a drop coat when painting metallics
Yeah we like to go a little over the top with the drop coats so the metallic really stand up, look so good outside 👌🏼
@@Charlies-Classic-Custom Indeed, that freshly standing metallic is the best!

So mad seeing the process but the results speak for themselves. Works of art
It is a long old process 🤠🤙🏼
Wow another outstanding job sir.
Cheers Mark 🍻
Lovely job
Thank you! Cheers! 🍻
I love the quality of your work. That looks absolutely fantastic. Very interesting and informative video. Thanks for sharing 🍻
Thanks Giles 🍻
Wow! Just starting an e-type restoration of my own. Your work is amazing and also scaring the crap out of me. Not sure how I'm going to do it.
Cheers Doug, just follow the steps and take your time 👍🏼🍻
Just want to say deeply impressive work guys. Would be great to see that car when finally assembled.
We will do some sort of video when its fully built 👍🏼
Wonderful, 1st class work, thanks for taking the time to share.

Just stumbled across your channel, looks incredible. Going to enjoy this.

Amazing car, and can imagine its going tp look stunning with that colour.
Yes better than the normal gun metal 👍🏼
Great work, that finish looks world class. 🫶🏻
Thank you 🍻
Great work. fantastic finish. Is it possible to follow the rest of this restoration [if they're on youtube] ?
There isn't no but we'll do an episode when its finished 🤙🏼

Thanks Steve, I don’t know probably because we are terrible at getting on the algorithm 🤷🏻♂️🍻
Wonderful skills and teamwork gent's, a real pleasure to watch. Thank you for taking the trouble to share.
Thanks guys I’ve been waiting for the update. Thanks Nick
Not a problem Nick, forgot to upload it last week 🙃
Beautiful work. Can we see the car completed in its final form anywhere? Thanks
Lovely job , nice to see it done the right way. I also use trizact 6000s on the flatting stage 👍
Cheers Jimmy, we found the 6000 didn't make much difference, the compound had enough cut to go from 3000

Hi Kevin, if you don’t want to a DA just use the 3000 disc’s by hand, it’s sometimes better as the DA can leave pig tails
@@Charlies-Classic-Custom thanks mate, will try that on the weekend.
awesome!!!!!!
Any updates on the quick spool valve?
wow!!!

This car is stunning! really looking forward to the rest of the build! What engine is going in and what is the name of that blue?
It will be running a 4.2 jag motor, the colour is from a Porsche can’t remember the code I’ll have a look later 🤙🏻

😂, we liked it in black 😎
Great Job is it for sale ?
Hi Hector, no it’s not for sale 🍻
why not spray a clear protective coat on the underside of the hood?
