      Yeah I was on the forums a lot and what they were saying was "The Last Days of Kharak". Not from the perspective of the Saprtan-like Soban, not the over-used Mary Sue S'Jet. The Gaalsien. It was beautifully tragic the way they were right about Kharak's end. The warning had been handed down like/warped into a prophecy and they had fought blindly like antibodies defending a body against infection to stop the space expedition. They did not know the meaning behind it but they fought regardless. In the end they were played/manipulated. And misunderstood. We all know what's coming. Maybe some of the Gaalsien would REPENT their actions. That maybe they were in the wrong and had lost so many of their beloved and so much of their strength. They could try to cross the desert, call for a ceasefire, try to survive while some dissidents would cling to their hatred, continue to fight the Coalition. We all know Sidiim have either been killed off or forced out. Soban may understand the plight of being driven out of their home and while sympathetic would still not trust them too openly- the Gaalsien that is, not the Sidiim. You know the last scene from Rogue One? The look on Jyn's face near the end as they sit down by the beach as the Exterminatus blast draws close? The look of peace before the end? I kinda think that the Gaalsien deserve some redemption. We know they were the last of their kiith.

      Well said my friend. I always say the Gaalsien are not villains, but rather tragic antagonists.

      Yes the only problem I have with this game is that the story mode was not long enough.

    The Gaalsien play you made was far more fluid than the Coalition. Very different play styles there. The Coalition was more of a 'straight to AAV' death ball, while the Gaalsein was like a locust swarm of sand skimmers. It's nice to see you play to the strengths of each faction.
    And epic micro with that Missile Ship BTW.

    Amazing, the eco boost retiring the base runner gives. Also I like Gaalsein color scheme.

    I have had similar fun with assault ships. If you hide them behind obstacles where the AI will pass by, they will wreck even superior numbers of AAVs and Railguns very quickly. But you need to keep your Carrier around early so he can bully off an early rush.

    • @Dreamlands15
      @Dreamlands15  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Budgie Admiral Assault Ships are lethal if you can get them on top of a group of enemies. Terrain use is key, as you mentioned :)

    You could optimize this build by not building two salvagers for RU fields at the start, that way you save more CUs for your PC/Ref and have had an even faster expand. Also, I don't know if building no assault ships for safety is a sane idea. Then again, the Gaalsien are out in the desert sun all day, every day. In the later stages, I would also likely have recycled some salvagers, brought most of my PCs forward, got a macro PC, and pumped out even more stuff.

    • @Dreamlands15
      @Dreamlands15  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The reason I built salvagers for RU was for fast power upgrades. I think it really depends on what style you want to play.

  • @PolarBearSeal

    Very nice video. :) Hey, if it's not too much, could you do a tutorial series on your favored multiplayer tactics as these factions? That would be really cool.

    I think they could have added the ability to build small defense emplacements and trenches etc for some infantry to control like a base defense. It would be easy to implement and add quite alot to the game. You could build defenses and trenches on dunes etc that are manned but they stay in position like a static structure but they could be joined together and camouflaged for ambush or make hidden bunkers for vehicle ambush from or hide in. I just thought it would add alot to the game but be fairly easy to implement and not ruin the game as infantry emplacements wont be that powerful just give them the odd anti tank or aa weapon by upgrades etc. The base runner and salvagers etc could place them.

    • @hilariousnickname
      @hilariousnickname 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A cool idea but in the lore the reason they're so mechanized is because it's about 180 degrees outside, especially on this map which is in the heart of the great banded desert. Humans couldn't exist outside their vehicles for more than a few minutes.

    • @carolheward6479
      @carolheward6479 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hilariousnickname thats a good point but they could build emplacements with infantry using airconditioned armor etc. I just thought a few extra details could have added a lot. It is a great game still I like it.

    Boggles my mind how they managed to make the desert look so cool and everything else so dull. Especially the units. They look shapeless and lifeless

      RENOVATIO You need to zoom in more.

    • @renovatiovr
      @renovatiovr 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dreamlands even zoomed in they look boring. Very dull. The abilities and unit characteristics are dull as well. They picked a risky setting, a desert and nailed it, made it cool. But what happens on the terrain is just so unexciting. I watched some of your videos and I just cannot get impressed by the irregular shapes of metal exploding.

    • @Dreamlands15
      @Dreamlands15  7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      RENOVATIO I disagree. Very much. Its unfortunate you think so, but you are entitled to your opinion. I love the unit design, and the combat effects. Watch some of my Lore videos, maybe you mind will change :)

    • @renovatiovr
      @renovatiovr 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dreamlands I remember playing HW2 and spending hours watching how those ships behave, how their shapes relfect the character of each race. How a destroyer swings slightly to one side when a torpedo hits it. It was not only that but also the structural personality. Destroyers looking like ships or uboats, battlecruisers like huge gun platforms, carriers like actual futuristic carriers also the difference of weaponry and their impact..
      It takes extreme skill to make something as a desert so immersive and mess up everything else. As for the lore.. Lore is not a history, it is a man's fruit of imagination, it can be modified, changed, updated or extended. These models are lifeless and shapeless. Look at WW2. Tank sizes, shapes directly conveyed the message, you could tell from a distance those were military VEHICLES. Here I cannot tell if they are vehicles or coffee beans. They don't look powerful. I have watched so many videos on dok and I still cannot remember how most of the units look like, but I can still remember SC2 Protoss units for example even though I am not even into SC2 and never played it.

      Dreamlands Finally as to being entitled to having an opinion- generally speaking, the perception of beauty can be called somewhat subjective and in those terms you would be correct, however, here we are talking about form and its functionality, here a form doesn't represent well its designed functionality, in other words we are speaking of quality or the lack of it in this case, which is judged objectively and thus what I said is not an opinion. It is lacking detail, love, polish and personalization otherwise it would be noticed.

      He retired the base runner to get his economy going faster. 3 hard ai expand very fast. You can criticise his decision but he can beat 3 hard ai. It's pretty tough to do. Infact this video has actually helped me to realise how I can speed up my economy.
