I just switched from apple, 10+ year apple user and I got the Z Fold 5 last week and I'm totally in love! It's a breath of fresh air. Apple hasn't done anything interesting or innovative and this phone is everything my iPhone wasn't, amazing, fun and something I can see myself not getting bored with

Was easy to adapt to open the phone anytime you need to do something... I mean, how often do you use the "tablet screen"? I am considering to get this one of S23 ultra + ipad.

@@andonivrI was long-time ape user. 15 pro max was not a good upgrade from my 14 pro max. So fold 5 has been amazing. I use the inner display all the time. I don't think I can go back to regular phone

Until you actually switch to the fold 5 you will never understand how great this phone is. If you are a camera snob then go for the Ultra. This phone gives you a experience you'll never experience until you use it. You'd be surprised how much you actually use the big screen. If you like watching movies, playing games, youtubing, or multi-tasking, then this is definitely the phone for you. It's not perfect, but this is the best folding phone on the market hands down.

I appreciate your honesty, no one can fault you for your opinion. I currently have an S22 ultra and when I am ready to upgrade in a couple years or so, I think foldables might be an option. It seems they are close to being refined enough and hopefully the prices will come down a bit.

I upgraded from s22 ultra. I can tell you what I miss on 22 and what I love about the fold 5. The s22 ultra has better cameras especially for selfies. Battery life seem better on the 22 until the update we got 2 weeks ago on fold. I love storing the s pen inside of phone but I also don't use it daily so it's ok. I love opening my fold, when it comes to productivity fold dominates. S22 ultra screen is way better than the front screen on fold. I also miss taking my s22 ultra to beach, I don't dare take the fold lol. I also ride a motorcycle and my s22 ultra used to mount on a quadlock. Fold doesn't support quadlock and I wouldn't mount it anyways since it's not completely dust proof. I also expected the fold to be a lot more fragile and attract more dust but that's not the case. I dropped my fold once already and it holds. Anyways I do miss my s22 ultra but I'm also enjoying the fold life. Upgrade when you ready bro.

it'll take 4-5 generations before I switch to fold. Dust protection, s-pen silo, s-pen support for both screen, reduced crease, serious telephoto unit (doesn't have to be periscope, just dump that trash 10 mp cam), quicker charging, bigger battery, better unlock method (either in-display fingerprint sensor or iPhone-like face ID). And, of course, a wider outer screen.

I have the Z Fold 5. Its my first tablet style foldable and its been cool. My bezel symmetry seems to be fine so Im inclined to think that your model might have an imperfection (or I got lucky lol). My unexpected most fun use case has been reading ebooks and fanfiction on here. Im not an ebook person at all but ever since I tried Libby and the Myne app on here....Im hooked. Ive read so many stories on this device! I also love reading manga so the Tachiyomi app has been getting a lot of use as well. Who knew that the Z Fold 5 would elev a te my reading experience so much. It makes me excited to try out a Pixel Fold as well.

Great video. I went with the Pixel Fold. I don’t like the way Samsung cameras handle skin tones, and I didn’t care for that narrow outer display. The Pixel Fold isn’t perfect, but the majority of my gripes can be fixed through software.

I would love to see what Samsung would do with dimensions closer to the Pixel Fold. I envy the phone experience the Pixel Fold can offer. As it stands, I prefer the Galaxy Z Fold over the Pixel Fold. Samsung simply allows you to do more with the phone you buy, and with any screen space you give it to work with.
Pixel's UI is still rudimentary and reminiscent of iOS 9 on the iPad. You can run one app, or you can run two. One UI will let you run 3 apps and have floating apps. Do you need all that? Definitely not. It is there if you need it. You can even save app combos and launch them at will. You can then plug the phone in to/or wireless connect to a display and use DeX. It now gives you all the tiling options to run what you want in a desktop like environment.
Not a fan of DeX? That is fine, use all the same features in Windows using Link to Windows, which unifies your Windows and OneUI environments. So many of these features are missing or heavily degraded on Pixel.

I recently upgraded my Fold 3 to a Fold 5 and have noted some marked improvement in photo quality. A little bit of improvement in battery life. I agree, Fold 4 users shouldn't upgrade to the 5. It may just be me, but it feels like the cover display feels ever so slightly wider compared to the Fold 3. Thanks for the great video review.

I had iphone 5, all up until the 14 pro max. In between I owned Samsung sometimes and it's weird how Apple is not trying to make any improvements. My s23 ultra is literally a BEAST of a phone, my z fold 5 however replaced everything for me. I'm going all in with the Samsung ecosystem but I am going to get the apple laptop. I recently picked one up to try. I will say the noveilty is cool, bht this ain't it. For the basic consuemr needs I use none of the apps I use are supported. The phone stutters when trying to do a basic task and idk if anyone else has this but when I close the cover screen it freezes and only fix is to open the phone back up and close the app. The cameras are wrose than a mid range smart phone. The battery life has been good and the inside screen size is just awkward. Games look overly zoomed in and the outside display is a major major no. The narrow front is so uncomfortable and so inconvenient. Then when you open the display to fix that, depending on the app it doesn't get any better. This is only day two of using it, but will probably end up returning it. For $1445 since I bought a used one, having a hard time understanding the purpose and problem this phone was created for to fix. I can confirm this phone is over rated and very hyped up by tech channels and I understand why when I worked wireless so many people wanted to return this thing. I am going to give it another week, but not impresssed. That and it just so bulky when closed.

I like the one reviewer I watch who said if you have the fold 3 you do not really need to upgrade to the 5. For me it is going to need to have a bigger outside screen and I need to be able to use the pen on that outside screen as well. The pen needs to slide into the phone just like my note 20 ultra so it also needs to come with the pen. And they really need to put the SD card back in there as well. Last but not least since the screens are just not going to last that long the price needs to be under $1000 for a 512g model. Think I would like to have a fold phone but I just do not see that happening in my life time unless Samsung wants to send me one for free

My first fold was the fold 3 and I chose that because I wanted S Pen functionality. I like the innovation of it all and until they bring the S series cameras and make the outer display wider and less candy bar like I’m not updating. I also have an S22 Ultra and an iPhone 14 Pro and swap between depending on work needs and camera use scenarios. I find myself using the fold less and less these days but would one hundred percent go back to a single device if they brought the camera and screen size up. I think as more competition appears they’ll follow suite.

Fold5 users will have massive regret knowing that they could have waited for the superior upcoming OnePlus/ oppo...
The Fold5 has an abysmal face unlock, poor battery charging, lack of IR blaster, glaring outdated cameras, and the naggingly narrow front screen, will be a continual burdonous eyesore. Only Samsung fan-bois will deny this.
If purchsed, Return before it's too late. Special $$$ trade in deals of Samsung will not help the long term user regret, on user experience.
Any fold will be impressive to a new user, but this is not competitive.
I had the Samsung Fold3&4, so speak from experience. While Samsung has a polished OS, it is just too narrow for vertical use, even when opened.
I Had to use the main screen turned sideways every time(!) to avoid multitasking app issues, from apps forced into a narrow aspect ratio.
Yes even opened, the apps are forced onto an aspect ratio not native to apps.
Apps will behave funny, and browsers will have missing buttons on some sites due to being confined in such narrow space when held vertical.
So you are forced to turn your unit 90° (sideways) EVERY TIME.... The same format and size which the pixel Fold is natively in!.
Also "Flex mode" looks better on "wider" screens like the google pixel. This is also most noticable on the even wider surface duo/duo2 ..Once you go fat, you don't go back.
The google Pixel only need to go a bit taller in next iterations, and switch out those cheap dull screen types that look dim in sunlight, plus an updated processor that won't stay warm all the time, as pixel does.
I myself "downgraded " to a used "surface duo 2", in wait for the "OnePlus Open Fold".
It will give a better form factor than these units.
The Fold5 is actually just an updated Fold4, which should have sold for $900, because of zero change in innovation or design. Samsung admits this by giving you a $1k trade in.
It's nothing more than an updated unit, because of "forced" normal updated parts changes(like the chips), due to parts manufacturers updating their latest parts and EOL replacements, which always include circuit diagram updates for thier updated parts, so practically ZERO innovation here...
Consumers fall for this year's iteration, because of "new toy syndrome" and shiny new parts. Even the screen HAD to be updated from last gen regardless, as manufacturing of screens are always racing to be competitive and have newer screens, not last year's old parts.
Samsung just lazy and "cashing in" on an updated phone, instead of pushing for a new phone. Nothing that consumers asked for. This year is a "skip-year" for Samsung, unless your getting an s23 Ultra, which actually does have an integrated Bluetooth s pen, great cameras, and good battery.
Sorry but the only good thing about the Fold5... is being able to upgrade in future, to a Fold6.

I just don't get with the premium price, why they can't put the ultras 10x optical Zoom on it. I use it on mine all the time.
The camera is pretty much the only reason I get flagships at times.

I don't think I will ever be a folding phone guy I am happy to have a phone and a tablet with zero compromises. For example, a crease going through the centre of the screen.

And it still has that dumb narrow design😂. Make the dam phone wider already and still no built in s pen. Pixel fold got the design right on the first Gen. If Samsung doesn't change design unfold 6 I will be getting the second generation pixel fold. And that's coming from a person whose owned nothing but Samsung phones his entire life

What does the 5 year security update mean? Like sfter 5 years your phonr will not br securr anymlre??😂

    • @ShannonMorse
      @ShannonMorse  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Samsung will continue to patch the phone with security updates for 5 years. After that your phone will no longer receive those patches. So if a new vulnerability is found after 5 years, it will not be patched.

Skip every fold phone, it's just marketing. No-one (read that again) has any practical use for such a phone. Only if you want to waste a lot of money and like something that can break at any moment (costing you more of that money you seam to be able to waste on a useless product that you think you need because of all the hype)
