    Amazon delivered my Black Rapid Breathe Curve this morning, Sunday 9-30-2018. Going by your video, after screwing my Olympus on,I made the adjustments to the both straps. This fits perfectly. After making adjustments with the slide stops, as in your video, I bent over and the camera did stay on the back of my hip. I love this Curve !!!! “Thanks again for your great video”, Jim, Charlotte, NC.

    Thanks. I was searching for a decent camera strap for my very heavy Pentax K1 and even heavier lens. The review is brilliant. I showed me exactly what I needed to know. One of the best TH-cam reviews I've seen. Clear and to the point, no silly frills or effects! I'm now going to order the strap.

    Always hated the idea of giving up my mount for a strap. Personally I've used the Fastfire sling for years with no issues (even on my motorcycle). However, I absolutely LOVE the idea of the bumpers on this strap.

    Wearing the basic strap that comes with the camera is like having someone standing on your shoulders while you are shooting..I used that nightmare for about a week,and then RAN to get something better,since my DSLR is kind of heavy...good video..

    Hi, I like your video, it's very clear. However, may I know why you don't use the extra little safety strap which goes on the camera strap hook? I would have thought it a must, in case the screw attachment to the camera works free. Thanks, look forward to and early reply as I'm in need of a camera sling. I am a beginner. I have a Canon R6 with 24-105 lens which is definitely heavy on my neck all day.

    Well done review. I've used Black Rapids for several years. I have had a problem with wear on the rotating metal piece that holds the fastener onto the belt's sliding metal piece. The cap on the metal piece wore through disconnecting my camera from the strap while I was walking. My camera fell damaging my flash which took the brunt of the fall. It could have been worse had I been on concrete. Still, I got another black rapid, but I've learned to check metal wear every so often. And recommend that others do so. I carry a Canon 7d mkii with a 100-400 mm for wildlife photography; so the belt holds serious weight and takes some abuse from hiking on rugged terrain.

      @TechGearTalk  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much James.
      That's a serious setup you're carrying with you.
      I would definitely recommend using the additional tethering strap for added security. That way you just have a backup in case anything fails. How much does that setup weigh?

    • @jamesripley4688
      @jamesripley4688 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I bought my RS 7s, they weren't packaged with tethers and I wasn't smart enough to invent my own. I just ordered the model you showcased WITH a packaged tether. I'm all set.

    • @jacdale
      @jacdale 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TechGearTalk Yes both fully functional and comfortable. I put the camera and BR strap on first and the Slinghot over. That works a little better than the other way round.
      BWT I also use an L bracket that has a thread for the BR. The L bracket attaches to the tripod mount and the BR attach to the L bracket. That gives me both a portrait and landscape mount for my Manfrotto quick releases.

      I stopped useing mine for the same reason, also the plastic LockStar fitting broke the first time I used it, you can get replacements but you shouldn't have to replace an integral piece of the kit after only one use, especially on something that is quite expensive to start with, I binned mine, I didn't want to use it and I wouldn't want anyone else using it either in case it damages their gear.

    Did I win yet? I've had the same 2 BlackRapid RS-4 straps for 8 years and they're still going super strong! Guess the miss me as a customer, huh?

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha! Not quite yet. thanks for watching. How do you think these compare to the RS-4 that you have?

    • @psoup216
      @psoup216 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tough to say, because I take my RS-4's for granted! I'll say.... the surface area of the top of the shoulder that's covered, stays in place, breathable, and the bumpers are probably better.
      My concern with it is that I use Manfrotto tripod plates and just connect to them rather than a FastenR, and whether the clip will still be small enough to fit that (it probably is)... and also whether there's a pocket on the strap for the lockstar.

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Makes sense. There is no pocket on the strap for the lockstar.
      How are you connecting to the manfrotto plates? do you use an FR-T1? Or do they have a D ring?
      Why do you need to remove the lockstar?

    • @psoup216
      @psoup216 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. The Manfrotto plates have a d-ring underneath like so: image.dhgate.com/0x0/f2/albu/g1/M00/F5/81/rBVaGVT0fwuAMKvtAAEX45yLcAk485.jpg
      I probably should pick up a pair of FR-T1’s, huh? The Manfrotto D-rings were designed to twist
      rather than hold the weight of a body and 70-200mm lens. I’ve been lucky. I’ll put away some loot for them.
      And, my RS-4’s are the ones that have the ORIGINAL clips (squint for them in
      this photo: robertsdonovan.com/wp-content/uploads/imgp9393.jpg).
      I want to say that BR had a quasi-recall on the RS-4 to replace the clip,
      but I think it meant having to send the straps back in and I didn’t want to
      part with my straps during event season.
      Everything since then has had the more classic carabiner style.

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for all the insight! Hard to say about replacing the D rings since they worked this long. However, I agree with your assessment as to their intended use. It's probably not a bad place to play it safe.

    3:22 lmao 🤣
    I had the wide Peak Design and I hated it. Was expensive too. I bought a Blue Black Rapid strap that I disliked as well. I like this one because of the under arm strap, but not a fan of it screwing to the bottom of the camera for 2 reasons ... fear of it breaking off and it’s a pain taking all that off to put on a tripod. Idk what to do

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Re: 3:22, LOL!!! I totally forgot I did that.
      As far as it breaking off, you can add a tether strap as a backup. This would essentially clip to the BR strap and to the built-in spot on the camera. If somehow the screw broke off, it would prevent it from falling.
      As far as going on a tripod, it takes me less than 5 seconds to remove it from the strap, and I just keep the strap on, lol. I'm sure people make fun of me.

      Hi Peter, it won't attach to a regular Manfrotto QR plate because there is no 1/4 20 at the bottom. I would look for an aftermarket plate - I know there are Arca Swiss ones that have incorporated a 1/4 20 - hope that makes sense.

      Hi David,
      That is true, I do need to just unscrew it if I want to go to a tripod. For the way I work, I use this for events where I have the camera strapped for hours at a time, or even all day. I don't often switch between tripod/strap on the same shoot.
      For that, I would probably use something like a Peak Design Capture: bhpho.to/2Ofu1x6 (assuming of course my tripod head was arca swiss compatible.

      You can definitely wear a jacket, that's not a problem. And I've had my camera bag on, I just need the strap to go on last. I don't see why that wouldn't work with a backpack, again, as long as you put the strap on last.
      It would overlap you backpack so you'd have to take the strap off in order to take off the backpack.
      does that make sense?

    What kind of mic did you use for this video?

      This is the mic I used: amzn.to/2L2NxvP
      I still use it for current videos. Was the audio ok?

      Audio was perfect, that's why i'm asking. Did you use any acoustic panels as well? Thanks for the reply, i purchased the Curve Breathe camera strap because of this video, for my D750, and i absolutely love it.

      Yes, I have acoustic foam on the walls and ceiling (which is really low).
      I don't record there anymore (if you watch the new reviews) but it was key. Otherwise there was crazy reverb.
      Glad you love the strap!
