I saw the video of Lorrie Morgan and the Beach boys over two years ago and when I first heard it I brought tears to my eyes now that you all are reacting to this video brought tears to my eyes once again please react to Lorrie Morgan as a country music artist I want to cry some more thank you
Lorrie is of the age where she grew up listening to the Beach Boys. Here smile at the beginning says "damn, I'm singing with the Beach Boys"! SOMETHING IN RED is Lorrie's best song.
She is a very special singer but Beach Boys are absolute legends world wide ... Of course writing fantastic songs is a rare gift which they or Brian Wilson has, This is definitely one of his best for me..,,
Brian Wilson wrote this for Ronnie Spector (and the Ronettes) way back in the day, but she wasn't allowed to record it (though she did finally do it several decades later). The Beach Boys recorded it themselves and it's one of their most beautiful records (along with "Please let Me Wonder," "God Only Knows," and so many others).
Never could really take to "God Only Knows". A love song whose first line is, "I may not always love you..." doesn't really cut it for me. Certainly doesn't give me "good vibrations." ;-)
Never heard this by Lorrie Morgan but it was amazing being backed by the Beach Boys. Yes you need to hear the original by the B B. Also you should hear Lorries sing THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS.
Lorrie Morgan is a great country artist and has sooooo many wonderful songs. She was married to Keith Whitley whose life was cut way to short. He has a great song you should react to called "when you say nothing at all" it is a stunning song and a huge hit for him.
Oh wow .. I didn't realize he was the original artist for that song. Thnx for that info. I'll have to go listen. Allison Krauss does an awesome cover of this song .. actually it's my fave song by her. Thnx again🙂🤘🏼
Yes...PLEASE do Lorrie Morgan!! She has soooo many great hits to choose from. "Half Enough", "Good AsI was to you", "Didn’t know my own strength". "Standing Tall", "Something in Red" "If you came back from heaven" and so many more!! 🥰
There's a song by the band, Chicago, called "Wishing You were Here" with the Beach Boys also singing the background. It's my favorite Chicago song and the Beach Boys harmonies are at the top of their game. Do yourselves a favor and listen to that song. The song came out during the mid 70s.
She is absolutely amazing! She has so many hits, definitely a rabbit hole you guys won't regret going down!! An extremely warm, supple tone to her voice . One of my all time favorite country singers/favorite female singers. Do more of her, please!
This is a Beach Boys song, and I will always like their original version better. However, she has a great voice and this is definitely a good version. But you definitely need to listen to the original version, you will love Beach Boy Brian Wilson's soaring falsetto!
Cannot believe you are doing this tune!!! From Beach Boys album "Stars and Stripes". Various artists covering Beach Boys tunes with Beach Boys backing each. Lorrie has top billing on the list! Thanks!
Yes, thank you for talking about the Beach Boys harmonies. They were an institution for so many years. The combining of the voices of the Beach Boys with Lorrie Morgan was genius. Thank you for a great reaction.😊
This is an ultimate pop song by iconic beach boys. Lorrie Morgan is supreme here. Often go to TH-cam just to see the reaction of Lorrie singing with this amazing band. The song just doesn’t date !
You've got to do "Something In Red" live. Lorrie sings the socks off of that one. Here's a link to my favorite live performance of this song th-cam.com/video/QCIdOixU2uI/w-d-xo.html
No way. Amber needs to see the original video of that song. It’s a terrific video. I don’t doubt the live version is nice as well but I vote for the video.
@@GoodStuffForeverMore it’s up to them. I think the video does the song justice and it’s worth seeing. As I said, I’m sure the live version is great. I’d hate for them to miss the original video though. She is stunning in it.
A very innocent song. I think it reflects some of Brian Wilson's emotional problems. Another good one is Wouldn't It Be Nice. It has an innocence that you wouldn't ever see today.
One of Lorrie Morgan's most beautiful songs is "Something in Red. " check it out too Lorrie is a country singer. Her husband and her dad were country singers also. She grow up in that world.
My first time hearing her, she's amazing, but I kinda wish you'd heard their original first, since it's probably my favorite by them. She does add a country feel to it.
Beach Boys did an album, duets with country women. “In My Room” with Tammy Wynette and “I Can Hear Music” with Kathy Troccoli are two Beach Boy duets that were really good👍
Absolutely! This whole album was fun & included country male artists as well. I loved seeing The Beach Boys behind the scenes for the making of this album, Stars & Stripes. Any time I can watch The Beach Boys in the studio in any decade is an awesome day for me. And Carl was still alive then too, which makes it all the more special. One of the funniest moments is the footage of Mike trying to show Willie Nelson how to sing Warmth Of The Sun... & Brian's reaction to that moment later. 😂 In fact, every time I watch someone react to We Are The World, I start laughing because Willie is singing along beautifully with Dionne Warwick & then 11 years later finds himself being schooled on singing by Mike. And then I can't stop laughing! 😂 I love them all, those harmonious Beach Boys. And Willie!
I love the cover Lorrie did of this Beach Boys song. She blends so beautifully with Beach Boys as backup singers. Such a beautiful song considering its about a upcoming car race. 🚗 LOL. You need to listen to more Beach Boys. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤❤ 🇨🇦 🇨🇦
The Beach Boys toured with Chicago in the mid 70s, and they did background vocals for one of Chicago's hits "Wishing You Were Here". Get to that one eventually!
She's the daughter of Country Singer George Morgan, Ex GF of Troy Aikman, Widow of Keith Whitley (Don't Close Your Eyes). Her songs "Five minutes" and "What Part of No Don't You Understand?" have over 3 million views each.
The Beach Boys are still touring. Brian Wilson has his own tour. These guys are around 80 years old and have been on tour for 60 years. Totally Amazing!!!
Saw Lorrie in concert last year at a casino. She was great. She told my drunk wife, "I seen you out there just a gettin it!" She's definitely country. Her dad was a country star. She was hugely popular at one point, but she had lots of tragedy and love gone wrong in her life. She made headlines dating Dallas Cowboys' Troy Aikman. It was lots of drama. She had a reality show. Her house flooded in the Nashville floods. She's been through it and still sings like an angel.Oh, and you know I have to tie her to Dolly in some way, so she sang "May the Best Woman Win" with Dolly in the first duet with two major female stars.
The first time I listened to the album Something in Red (which I bought because of the title song) and track five, "Picture of Me (Without You)", immediately brought to mind George Jones' version of the song I thought "Wow, she's good". Then when track 7--"Best Woman Wins"--came on I thought "My God, she brought George to mind; but she is flat out channeling Dolly" then when Lorrie starts to sing HER part I looked at the liner notes to see that is a duet and that really was Dolly.
Great version!! I'd never heard this version...this is one of my favorite beach boy songs along with "Wouldn't it be Nice"and "God only Knows" among othets.. Great job
She wrote and recorded “If you came back from Heaven” after her husband Keith Whitley died! It’s a beautiful song and gives anew perspective to someone dying!
I took my daughter to see Lorrie in Las Vegas in 1993. She is just a fabulous singer and we really enjoyed her concert. I'm so glad you were able to find this with the Beach Boys. So many tough things in her life, not least of which the death of Keith Whitley. You already did a Keith reaction to "When You Say Nothing At All." Thanks!
Another great country women duo was The Judds. The were influential on a lot of female country and male country duos. Songs like Mama he's crazy., Love can build a bridge, Papa tell me about the good old days. RIP Naomi. Also do reaction to Brad Paisley. He has a lot of good hits. I'm still a guy , I'm going miss her, Ticks, waiting on a woman are a few
Thank you for playing this song. I don't remember it, but it gives me the chills. Oh, to sing with the Beach Boys! The Beach Boys covered a Mama's & Papa's song, California Dreamin. Recorded in 1986 I believe. You should give that a listen to.
Great song love The Beach Boys and Lorrie Morgan is great too! So glad you all reacted too it! I think you should revisit Martina Mc Bride again with the song/video for Independence Day. The song is very moving, one of the most powerful country song and video of the 90’s.
Amazing cover. I am a huge Beach Boys fan and I think this was an amazing cover and to have the Beach Boys WOW. Yes the sound is different from the original but it's still amazing.
"Watch Me" "We Both Walk" "Something In Red" "Dear Me" "Good As I Was To You" "My Night To Howl" "Except For Monday" "Trainwreck of Emotion" She recorded one of THE BEST renditions of "My Favorite Things" (A song originally written by Rodgers and Hammerstein for "The Sound of Music")
She is worth more songs. Her voice is very strong and has a "retro" feeling for me. She remade some 50ish songs. She has a variety of fast or slows song. Sad or bad chic - strong-female songs. She also did a cover of Journey's Faithfully. Watch Me, Except for Mondays, and What Part of NO - are my favorites from her.
this is so frickin' cool. Lorri Morgan nails this song and the beach boy back up vocals are as good as ever. Wow I am now an official Lorri Morgan fan. Holy Mackeral she sounds sooo good
It is easy to get lost in the rabbit hole that is Lorrie Morgan's music. Three of my favourites: Something in Red A Picture of Me Without You Except for Monday She also does a lovely cover if Journey's song "Faithfully"
I have been a Beach Boys fan since forever! I grew up listening to them. I also love Lorrie Morgan! I had NO IDEA that they did this.My FIRST time hearing this version was TODAY, about 10 min ago! I saw THIS react video on the list, and right below it was the original that you played here. I Listened to the original first, then watched here. ( I was curious as to how you two would react.) I couldn't agree more! She CRUSHED IT! ( and also I too noticed that she was grinning from ear to ear at the beginning, she looked soo excited that THEY were her backup vocals.
Lorrie Morgan is one of my favorite country singers. I'm glad you got to hear her! Some of my favorites by her are: Watch Me, I Guess You Had To Be There, Something in Red, Half Enough, My Night to Howl, What Part of No, If You Came Back From Heaven, and Good As I Was To You. She's also done some really good duets with Sammy Kershaw. Hopefully you'll check out more of her music!
This is the only Beach Boys song I love! This version is much more of a country version with her singing! I much prefer their origional version! You need to check out their version as well!
One thing that fascinates me about this song is the illusive contrast between the simple beauty of the teenage talk, and expression of feeling, and the amazing music and angelic backing harmonies. Lorrie's voice is top notch.
Lorrie is absolutely country. Her Dad was George Morgan, who was a star on the Grand ole Opry as well. Lorrie used to hang around backstage and listen and watch. One night when she was 13 her Dad called her out on stage and they sang a song. She has been performing ever since. That was about 48 years ago. You guys did Home Free covering the Vince Gill song "Go Rest High on that Mountain". He started writing that when his good friend and singer/songwriter Keith Whitley died, and then finished it years later when Vince's brother passed. Well Keith was married to Lorrie. Check out Lorrie's hit Something in Red or try this tribute she wrote to The Opry and sang on a Country Family Reunion show. th-cam.com/video/T9DIrNLMVgU/w-d-xo.html Oh btw this was from an album of Beach Boys hits that they did with a bunch of guest performers. Even Willie is on that album.
She did two duet albums with Pam Tillis which are awesome. They"ve known each other since they were kids, hanging out backstage at the Opry while their fathers performed.
Lorrie has been singing for since she was a kid. Her father George Morgan was a member of the Grand Ole Opry (as is she) and brought her on stage at 13, she received a standing ovation first time out. She has won Grammys, Country Music Association Awards and Academy of country Music Awards. "You need to do Something in Red". The Beach boys still tour although they have split up and tour as separate acts. Saw Brian Wilson a couple of years ago, he was great.
I haven't heard Lorrie Morgan in quite a long time. I forgot what a beautiful voice she has. And singing with the Beach Boys was pure genius. Nice reaction, so glad you did it, never heard this before, a real treat!
Lorrie Morgan has a great catalog of music, "I didn't know my own strength", "Picture of me without you", "Half Enough", "Something in red", and many more, I loved the 90's country music. She also wrote and sang a beautiful song for her late husband Keith Whitley, titled " If you came back from Heaven", you should check that one out also. Love the joy that y'all bring every day!! I would also like to dedicate the song to my late husband "Bill"
I'll suggest "Something in red" by Lorrie Morgan but please make sure ya'll do the original 1964 Beach Boys version of "Dont worry baby" as well Thank you 😀
She has a very unique voice. Some recommendations of my personal favorites: My Heart A Picture of Me (Without You) Never Been Good at Letting Go On this Bed Maybe Not Tonight (duet with Sammy Kershaw, another amazing Country singer) Something in Red She was married to Keith Whitley (RIP) who also had an amazing and unique voice. A couple of recommendations: Don't Close Your Eyes When You Say Nothing At All Tell Lorrie I Love Her
Hey there Jay and Amber! 👋🏾 I love your channel! ❤️ I wish you would react to "Brother To Brother" by Canadian singer/musician Gino Vannelli. The album version of the same title. His voice and musical arrangements are phenomenal! You don't know what you're missing!! 😲 I promise you won't be disappointed! 👍🏾
The Beach Boys are so good singing backup on this song because it’s their song.....they started singing it back in the 60’s! Lorrie Morgan is a country singer, and yes, she has changed it enough to make it her version. She was married to country legend Keith Whitley, until he accidentally overdosed. R.I.P. Keith.
Guys if there was ever a miscarriage of justice this is it I’m not saying they don’t sing this song nice because they do but the original artist are at the Beach boys so when you get a chance please oh please listen to the original version!!!!!
Why wouldn’t you do on of Lorrie Morgan’s country hit songs she’s known for, instead of her doing some cover of a Beach Boys song? So random. Do her songs “You’ve Got Five Minutes”, or “Except For Monday” or What Part of No
This has been my favorite beach boys song since the 70's! Found this on TH-cam a year ago. And Foxes and Fossils do it justice on their version. Loved your reaction! Peace from Michigan.
Wow … so many connections in this video. Lorrie is an absolute birth child of country music. You’ve also reacted to Wilson Phillips before - birth children of The Beach Boys. Highly recommend “something in red” by Lorrie.
The Beach Boys did an entire album with other singers doing lead on Beach Boys songs, around 1996 I believe. Kathy Troccoli did one with them on that album you GOTTA hear. "I Can Hear Music". Her voice worked as well as Lorries did on this song. One other noteable on that album was Willie Nelson, although I haven't listened to that one all that much.
Lorrie has sooo many good songs, shes on my top 5 faves of all time. "Good as i was to you" and "Something in red" are musts, but every song is worth a listen. Like Loretta or Dolly, she dosent have a bad one.
The Lorrie Morgan discography is awesome,,,,Dear Me, Leave The Light On, Leavin' on Your Mind, Something in Red, Watch Me, and the list goes on. Tear jerker....Don't Close Your eyes Austin City Limits. So glad you did my fave singer.
As someone said earlier, this is from the album, Stars and Stripes Vol.1 all of the artists who appears performed with the Beach Boys are: Lorrie Morgan,Willie Nelson, Tammy Wynette, T. Graham Brown, Doug Supernaw, Sawyer Brown, Timothy B. Schmitt, Toby Keith, Colin Raye, Junior Brown, Rodney Crowell and Kathy Troccoli. A supporting documentary was shot during the recording sessions called Nashville Sounds.
She is country. Her father was a legendary session guitar player and singer. He is in the Country Music Hall of Fame. And of course Lorrie was married to Keith Whitley who is on the top of the list of people who are not in the Hall of Fame but should be. Lorrie is actually singing on the Grand Ole Opry two weeks from tonight.
the interesting thing About this reaction content is that it allows other people to see how you react to songs that we love, but also the opportunity for us to hear songs and artists that we wouldnt normally listen to... like, for me, lorrie morgan... never heard of her but i love her voice.
Yep, you really need to listen to the Beach Boys original of this song, now that you've heard this version.
I saw the video of Lorrie Morgan and the Beach boys over two years ago and when I first heard it I brought tears to my eyes now that you all are reacting to this video brought tears to my eyes once again please react to Lorrie Morgan as a country music artist I want to cry some more thank you
Yes I agree 👍💯
Totally. This version is utter garbage by comparison.

My favourite Beach Boys song way better but she does okay with them
Lorrie is of the age where she grew up listening to the Beach Boys. Here smile at the beginning says "damn, I'm singing with the Beach Boys"! SOMETHING IN RED is Lorrie's best song.
I would love it if they reacted to Something in Red!!!!!
Something in Red!! Love that song!

Good As I Was To You is Lorrie's best song
That was my first impression too like holy fuckin moly I’m singing with the Beach boys and she nails it
Brian Wilson wrote this for Ronnie Spector (and the Ronettes) way back in the day, but she wasn't allowed to record it (though she did finally do it several decades later). The Beach Boys recorded it themselves and it's one of their most beautiful records (along with "Please let Me Wonder," "God Only Knows," and so many others).
I suspect Phil didn't let Ronnie record it back in the days.
Exactly.
@@lesrolon40 correct, there is a video of Ronnie saying that Phil would not let her record it.
Never could really take to "God Only Knows". A love song whose first line is, "I may not always love you..." doesn't really cut it for me. Certainly doesn't give me "good vibrations." ;-)

Raider Ron I agree with you 100% ! One of my most favorite Beach Boy songs, and my favorite of Lori's is OUT OF YOUR SHOES. 😊
Billy Joel did a really good live performance of this song on a Brian Wilson tribute concert, backed by members of Brian's band.
Hers is the best version of that song.
I have heard My Favorite Things by her. Its beautiful. A gorgeous voice.
Amber, I think you would love her song "Something in Red". It would be a great choice for Female Friday as it's about the stages in woman's life.

"Trainwreck of Emotion"
She recorded one of THE BEST renditions of "My Favorite Things"
(A song originally written by Rodgers and Hammerstein for "The Sound of Music")
She is worth more songs. Her voice is very strong and has a "retro" feeling for me. She remade some 50ish songs. She has a variety of fast or slows song. Sad or bad chic - strong-female songs. She also did a cover of Journey's Faithfully. Watch Me, Except for Mondays, and What Part of NO - are my favorites from her.
Lorrie is one of my favorite female country in the 90's..One of Country music 90's Queens...Has such a beautiful voice!!!
She did a great version of their song!
this is so frickin' cool. Lorri Morgan nails this song and the beach boy back up vocals are as good as ever. Wow I am now an official Lorri Morgan fan. Holy Mackeral she sounds sooo good
It is easy to get lost in the rabbit hole that is Lorrie Morgan's music.
Three of my favourites:
Something in Red
A Picture of Me Without You
Except for Monday
She also does a lovely cover if Journey's song "Faithfully"
A Picture of Me Without You is so beautiful.
You should compare The Beach Boys original songs to this Cover Song, I think they are both beautiful!
Love hearing this.....played it a lot when I got the CD.
Lorrie put all her heart in that song.. her voice sounds soooo clear and strong.
Lorrie Morgan has a great voice. She's known for mostly country music and has has some great hit songs.
You guys will be blown away by Brian Wilson's falsetto if you listen to the original version of Don't Worry Baby!
I haven't heard Lorrie Morgan in quite a long time. I forgot what a beautiful voice she has. And singing with the Beach Boys was pure genius. Nice reaction, so glad you did it, never heard this before, a real treat!
Still the masters of 4 part harmony.
Some recommendations of my personal favorites:
My Heart
A Picture of Me (Without You)
Never Been Good at Letting Go
On this Bed
Maybe Not Tonight (duet with Sammy Kershaw, another amazing Country singer)
Something in Red
She was married to Keith Whitley (RIP) who also had an amazing and unique voice. A couple of recommendations:
Don't Close Your Eyes
When You Say Nothing At All
Tell Lorrie I Love Her
Time to another BeeGees!
Or I Started a Joke.
THIS IS A BEACHBOYS SONG! This was such a GIANT hit. Please listen to the original!!!!
Nooo 😢 I mean she’s not bad but the original version sang by them is the one you should have listened to. And then listened to one of her own songs.
Wow, what a blend. Her beautiful voice and their classic harmonies. Nice review.
Is Gino Vanelli still performing? I remember hearing him in the 80s- what a great voice!!
@@mstewart109 yes he is!
I saw Vannelli and at first thought you were recommending Milli Vanilli! 🤣
Are you Gino's manager?
@@walterrutherford8321 aww HELL NO! 🤣🤣😅🤣🤣
Hard to believe the old guys still sound that great at their age, and she did a beautiful job I can see why they did this together. Great pick folks!
Oh no, no, no! I wish you would’ve listened to the Beach Boys original version. It’s such a great, great song.
Yes, please!
Yes please do the original Beach Boys
Yes indeed.
This was also covered by the Bay City Rollers back in the early 70's. Lori Morgan is amazing. Voice of an angel. She is country!!
Why wouldn’t you do on of Lorrie Morgan’s country hit songs she’s known for, instead of her doing some cover of a
Beach Boys song? So random. Do her songs “You’ve Got Five Minutes”, or “Except For Monday” or What Part of No
I loved the album this was on, the Beach Boys teamed with a number of Country Singers to cover their music and I listened to it all the time
This is from a great beach boys album
Stars and Stripes forever Vol 1 1996
Full of country stars singing Beach Boys tunes with them
Brian Wilson of Beach Boys expected nothing less than perfection, absolutely perfection in their music.
Beach Boys backup vocals in "Wishing You Were Here" with Chicago.
I love the Beach Boys. Great harmonies. Lorrie Morgan has a special voice. I like her song something in red. She has several great songs.
As someone said earlier, this is from the album, Stars and Stripes Vol.1 all of the artists who appears performed with the Beach Boys are:
Lorrie Morgan,Willie Nelson, Tammy Wynette, T.
Christ I'm in tears. I love country. I love the beach boys. Hearing the awesome voices of the beaches behind this gorgeous voice is heaven.
the interesting thing About this reaction content is that it allows other people to see how you react to songs that we love, but also the opportunity for us to hear songs and artists that we wouldnt normally listen to... like, for me, lorrie morgan... never heard of her but i love her voice.
A Picture of Me (Without You) is one of my favs of hers. And Lorrie is a Country singer.
