It wasn’t just for the teenagers. This was a hit for all ages back then. We all fell for Wham-hard!! They were the total package! Good times in the 80s!😎✔️👏🏽🎉🍸
For all it's Pop feel and sound, the lyrics tell a darker story. Kinda wish you'd not been texting and caught that aspect of it. 🤷🏽♂️😁 Back to George's solo career, check out the Jazzy Ballad, Kissing a Fool. 🔥🔥 It wasn't a huge hit, but it should have been!!! It's one of those you can listen to on repeat.
George remained freinds with Andrew for years they met at school its only when Andrew moved to Cornwall they saw less of each other. Andrew does tributes to George and introduced him to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
George Michael: IMHO The best. A Different Corner(my personal fave song, ever, by any artist) Jesus To A Child (written about his partner that died from AIDS related complications, his entire album, Older, is dedicated to him) One More Try Fast Love (If possible watch video, it's amazing) Freedom 90 (Video is STUNNING! TOP models of 90's featured. It's an autobiographical song, watch his video for Faith first and at least one Wham! video to put the lyrics into better context) Monkey Praying For Time Spinning The Wheel, great jazzy number with a powerful message about HIV/AIDS. Somebody To Love (from the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. He KILLED it. ) Outside (Personally love this one just for the sheer balls shown by making a song about his own arrest) White Light (Which to be honest, since his death, breaks my heart every single time, as does Last Christmas) Waiting For That Day Older Heal The Pain I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me) his duet with Aretha Franklin. (He was a powerful duet partner. He knew how to let the others shine, from Whitney Houston, Mary J Blige, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, the list is impressive.) ...ummm, basically his entire catalogue. LoL Wham!: Club Tropicana Young Guns (Go For It) Everything She Wants Wham Rap! (Enjoy What You Do) Where Did Your Heart Go The Edge Of Heaven Battlestations I'm Your Man (Extended Stimulation Remix, I love the cheeky bit they added in the car part)
If we're just talking Wham, you've gotta listen to probably the most famous Wham song ever and that is Wake Me Up Before You Go Go! I'm Your Man and The Edge of Heaven are also awesome and if you love Careless Whisper, you'll also love A Different Corner. And if you didn't hear it at Christmas time, Last Christmas is also a huge hit of theirs you hear every Christmas without probably even knowing it's Wham!
hi my friend, George was a LEGEND!!!!! He was a megastar for over 30 years. He wrote, composed and sang all his songs himself - EVEN during Wham! days! GEORGE WAS WHAM! - Even back then he wrote, produced all the songs. Besides Freddie, he is one of the greatest singer- /songwriters of all time!!! George wasn't just 80s! You should listen to ALL of George's works.
I was a huge fan of wham in the 80s and I was in my late 20s. I went to see wham in Houston and was much older than most of the crowd. I didn't care!!! absolutely loved them. Continued to be a fan when George went solo. He and his music are greatly missed. You should do more research on him as he was a very giving person. He donated to many individuals in need as well as many charities.
I saw them in Houston as well back in 1985 at the Southern Star Amphitheatre ( I think) it was tied to ASTRO WORLD. I was in the 11th grade. We might have been at the same concert!
I grew up in the 80s (was aged 6-16 then). It really wasn't just about Michael Jackson & Madonna musically, although of course they both loomed large. It's a bit like saying America equals Disneyland. They represented the big money US market, but not everyone oriented towards that. And especially if you were in the UK like me, we had our own 80s colossuses in the prime of their careers like Queen, Phil Collins, Elton John, Dire Straits, Duran Duran, George Michael & Wham, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Culture Club, Pet Shop Boys, The Cure, The Smiths, Def Leppard etc ... Paul McCartney still making solo hits ... and plenty of excellent high-selling acts that most reactors have barely discovered yet like Nik Kershaw, Howard Jones, Paul Young, New Order, Alison Moyet, Erasure. Definitely worth checking out if you like the 80s sound! :D
This song & Careless Whisper are my two favorites from WHAM. I remember when this duo first hit the MTV scene. While most folks were hot for George, I liked Andrew more. Be sure to check out some of George's solo recordings such as Faith, I want your sex, One more try, & Father figure - they were all huge hits on MTV & on the music charts. One of my favorites from George as a solo artist was a duet he did with Aretha Franklin in 1986 titled "I knew you were waiting" - amazing & powerful vocals from both!
Careless Whisper was one of the first songs George wrote. He had the demo recorded when Wham was approaching the record labels trying to get a deal. It was deemed to sophisticated for wham's target audience and it shows George was a lyrical genius from a early age! You should check out " I knew you were waiting for me" a duet with Aretha Franklin. I'm sure Aretha wouldn't do a duet with just anyone. So that says something about George's talent.
When I hear you talking about George has soul, I’m reminded of the buckets of hell he got when he won a bunch of Grammys in the R&B category as a white man. There is a fabulous autobiography called Faith that was released posthumously that goes into it among other things.
Wham! was all about the party? They were poppy and fun and had a great dance records. It really got all the teams up on their feet. George was a very mature songwriter, but also had a lot up his his sleeve. He released it all when he went solo. Keep listening you’re going to love his music . A couple of Wham! reactions you could also do is Wake me up Before you Go Go and I’m Your Man. Great fun tracks. Did you know that Wham! started out as a white rap group? Yeah that’s right you’ll hear it on their very first album called fantastic.
Wow, what a great song I may have said this before I only listen to Wham! when no one was around but not anymore i’ll play this with the windows down baby
It really was fun to be a teenager in the 80's. I saw MJ (first time of 10 at 4 years old), Prince (first time of 18 at 16 years old), Wham, Madonna, Bruce, Duran Duran, Oingo Boingo... Working at a record store in L.A. with a Ticketmaster in it (at 17/18 years old) was just bananas. A ticket of $25 was expensive at the time (minimum wage was $3.35/hr when I got hired lol). More than half of the staff in our store were kids fresh out of high school and we had so much fun together. After closing on Friday and Saturday nights (at 11 pm), we'd sometimes hang out later (getting a Duralog from another store in the shopping center earlier) and then go to the beach. We were just friends enjoying being friends. And then one night, George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley dipped into the Fatburger restaurant two doors down after we closed. They were on their way to LAX and were hungry. We were friends with the guys who worked there (so they alerted us) - and then we girls appropriately freaked the hell out lol. They came into the store, signed stuff, and were just so cool. It took a long time for me to realize that my first job was the most fun job I'd ever have.
I'm a bit jealous. I got to see Wham! and George solo but would have given my firstborn to see the rest you saw. LoL Oingo Boingo alone kills me, Madonna is where the firstborn comes in. I also would have probably sold my soul to meet him.
@@rowanmayfair9249 Oingo Boingo's "Dead Man's Party" album will always one of my favorite things I was exposed to while working in that store. When we got new stuff (or when customers requested it), we were allowed to just play it. My musical tastes just exploded while working in that store.
I think this is my favorite Wham! song. It's probably not technically the best, but it's so much fun and I agree with you. The vocals in the background really make this song. Without them it's a fine song, but those backup vocals take it to a whole new level of catchy.
Wham was definitely younger. Another example is “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go”. It’s a bop. George as a solo artist did more mature music. Examples: Praying for Time, Faith, Freedom…
Wham - 'Edge of Heaven' or 'I'm Your Man' next! George Michael solo artist - Anything by George live, I was lucky enough to see him live a number of times...he could sing his *** off! If I had to choose? 'Somebody To Love' at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, 'The Long and Winding Road' at the Linda McCartney tribute, 'Brother, Can You Spare A Dime' at the Pavarotti and Friends Concert, ' One More Try' (one of George's own songs') at the Princes Trust Concert of Hope 1993. Basically, just search for 'George Michael Live', you won't be disapointed! :-)
I’m a huge Wham & G. Michael fan! Ya gotta check out: Father Figure, Faith, I want your sex, One More Try, The duet with Elton John, duet with Aretha Franklin…..I could go on! 😊❤❤
Careless Whisper was on a Wham album. It was a Wham song. Same album as this song even though it was released as a George Michael single. It was on the Wham album: MAKE IT BIG. George Michael and his Wham partner, Andrew Ridgeley, wrote the song together.
Try Wham Rap! Yes, George Michael his music career with a rap! Its great!! A critical approach to youth unemployment in the UK under Prime Minister Maggie Thatcher beginning of the 80ties
Enjoyed your reaction. Here are just a few recommendations (I would recommend just going through his entire discography): Spinning the Wheel (the official video); Fast Love (official video); the MTV Unplugged sessions; Jesus to a Child. There are also his many duets (Aretha Franklin; Mary J Blige; Whitney Houston; Stevie Wonder, etc). And George was the king of covers. His cover of I Can’t Make You Love Me (MTV Unplugged version) is heartbreaking.
I was a teen in the 80s - and yes, it WAS fun! The 80s music was awesome, so much variety (notwithstanding MJ & Madonna), artists were really free to experiment and try different stuff. That’s why 80s music is so great - I loved so many different artists of wildly different styles (Duran Duran, The Cure, Pink Floyd, U2, Journey, New Order, Depeche Mode, Wham!, George Michael, Eurythmics, INXS, Billy Idol, Midnight Oil, Paul McCartney, Dire Straits….) 😅
George and Andrew were friends since little kids. Andrew wanted to start driving race cars. George and Andrew remained close friends, but their time together was cut short by George Michael's unexpected death.
The next WHAM! Song/music video you should react to, is “I’m Your Man”, which has a “Motown-style” feel to it. After that, please react to the WHAM! song/music video, “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go”, which is an uptempo dance song.
"Wake me up before you go-go", Club Tropicana", like others have said "Careless Whisper" is a must, ""Faith" and DO listen to George's solo "Kissing a Fool", you will hear why.
Sorry but I disagree about what you said at 3 min 20 sec or so. Wham are/were absolutely legends. Zero question. EVEN in just 4 years. I was growing up back then. Definitely legends as Wham. That being said, Michael was definitely a BIGGER legend, solo. You should check out their "Wake me up before you go go" and "I'm your man"
Patty-I remember Andrew wanted to go into acting, so the split worked for both of them. The story of this song is about a break up. I never thought it was fun. Maybe i missed something. The music is great.
George Michael said his favorite work was Everything She Wants.
And he was so proud of one more try
Stay on this artist.
... if you're gonna listen to WHAM, then you have to listen to their first big hit "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go"!!!!!
Wham and George were closer than blood brothers. RIP GM ❤❤❤ Glad I am Gen X. George did not end it. It was mutual.
yeah, George has one of the best all-times voices --- up there with Freddie Mercury
Hey, i'm a 66 yr old grandma and i'm STILL one of those screaming girls !!.....LOL.....love this song !!
Amen! Was and always will be!

56 and was totally in love/lust with him. And Careless Whisper was WHAM!
George Michael was simply one of the best songwriters of his generation. Period.

Well, Wham! and George Michael definitely dominated as well. They were huuuuugeee 🤩
George Michael was one of the GREATEST ever.
I grew up in the '70s and '80s and that was the best music ever. It was something to really grove too.
George didn't play that many Wham! tracks in his solo career, but he sang this song at the 1996 MTV Unplugged concert and gave it a different guise.
If we're just talking Wham, you've gotta listen to probably the most famous Wham song ever and that is Wake Me Up Before You Go Go! Another note Careless whisper was actually recorded with WHAM. It is on their Male it Big Album. But it was redone to start his solo career.

This beat has been sampled times a hundred in hip hop music
Check out how he matured in the album titled "Older".
The whole album is smokey sultry .
Another vote for "I'm Your Man." Probably my favorite Wham tune. It thumps. A banger.
They had so much fun on stage❤
I LOVED WHAM back in the 80's!!! Saw them in concert in 1985, still have my t-shirt ( even though I can't fit ) 🤭
The single and album versions do not contain any audience noise. They are perfect studio recordings.😮😊
I know I said this before, but his live work is always the best!

Watch the Wham Documentary...its soo good. Mad respect for Andrew.
Faith or Freedom '90 next please
When I think 80s pop I think Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar
George was so gorgeous he took your breath away
I agree every song a classic not many bands can say that
you're so darn cute when you vibe to the music and do little dance moves..😊
Wham is a legend and an important part of our music history. No Wham, no George Michael.

You should listen to "One more Try" and "Kissing a Fool" to understand what voice and talent this man had...
Wham, was one of my favs growing up..
George Michael was truly an amazing artist, really, really missed ❤❤❤
Wham還有一首神曲,Where Did Your Heart Go,這兩首是最棒的的
The next WHAM! Song/music video you should react to, is “I’m Your Man”, which has a “Motown-style” feel to it.
After that, please react to the WHAM! song/music video, “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go”, which is an uptempo dance song.
I was going to say that Careless Whiper and Everything she wants is from the same Album Make it Big
George’s voice is right up there in my top five. Check him out live. One More Try.
WHAM.... CLUB TROPICANA...my fav x
Listen to George Michaels - Praying for Time
Yes!!!
"Wake me up before you go-go", Club Tropicana", like others have said "Careless Whisper" is a must, ""Faith" and DO listen to George's solo "Kissing a Fool", you will hear why.
You should check out the edge of heaven on top of the pops 1986. Great pop song of Wham’s
You should react to ‘Fast Love’! It’s got a great funky video as well.
Unfortunately Andrew Ridgley didn't sing on this particular song or any song period 😂, but it's a FANTASTIC SONG
Careless Whisper is also a Wham! Song!!!😅😊
Technically, the single was released under George Michael's name, but the single was included on Wham! - Make It Big, at least here in the states.
I'm Your Man is good, the remix/dancemix is dope
😊 whenever you dance, it makes me want to dance... lol

Madonna controlled her career from the beginning.
btw are you gonna react to any Prince? songs like "I Wanna Be Your Lover" & "Kiss"
George pretty much did the music too mate
Ooh shiit🔥🔥🔥
George Michael "One More Try". Wham is ok but Geroge by himself is spectacular
You shoukd react to George Michael and Elton John "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me"
and "somebody to love" at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert
His song PRAYING FOR TIME is quite poignant, especially nowadays.
One of my favorites, too!
You gotta react 2 his duet with Aretha Franklin "I Knew You Were Waiting". you'll also luv "One More Try" & "I Want Your Sex"
