That is actually what got me into Four Gate with the Kelvin 1. I got tired of the rat race for GTS and realized there were hitters just sitting in the shelf.
Wasn’t a fan of Green River bourbon it wasn’t terrible but wasn’t great either. Still not sure I’m willing to get the full proof to see if it gets better. I’m not really worried about replacing bottles I’ll never see or try on a regular basis. It’s easier to walk in a store get the bottles I can get all the time without waiting in a line or overpaying. Sure these are excellent bottles but for me not worth hunting.
Specifically talking about cask strength single barrels that are getting up there in age. Seeing 6 to 7 year barrels regularly and should get you to 8 years in 2025.
No need to find alternatives. This stuff is getting flooded to market by buffalo trace. Its starting to sit around my areas... just waiting on store owners to get their pricing right.
That’s what prompted the question actually. Some areas are getting flooded and lots of pictures online of these shelves filled with Stagg while other areas are still dry of these products.

Four Gate drinks similar to GTS.

Great recs, agree with all of these. Do you think we could see a return to 12yr+ KC picks?
I hope so. The slow down in the market should result in heritage distillers throwing their volume and age statements around eventually to stand out.

Unfortunately, I can buy Stagg or E.H. Taylor here, but NOT J.T. Meleck! I've tasted a sample and would love to get a bottle...
So you are telling me I need an Alternative video to JT Meleck 🤣
@@helloagainwhiskeyfriends No, I think I'm saying you should lobby them to sell J.T. Meleck in the U.K.!

Green River low proof bourbon is awful. I don't get it.

I agree 100%, tasted like flavored water.
