      I have nothing against Brett but she's not the definition of wife materia,l she's overachieving, ambitious, and has other male like qualities. I'm not saying this to put her down but she's not a traditional wife at all The qualities she has makes her very successful at her job at her TH-cam channels but she is literally the career woman. To be a trad wife she'd have to give all that up and I just don't see her doing that. I'm not saying she can't get a good husband she's got good qualities but truly high caliber males that she would probably be into They may not pick her because they don't want someone who they feel they have to compete with who has a career themselves. Brett is not the '50s housewife and high value males would see this and choose not to be with her. Brett is young she's like 21 I mean can't believe I'm saying this cuz people said this about me but she's literally kind of still a baby like she has a time to find a good partner man and have kids if that's the route she wants to do but either she's going to find someone who is more on a 50/50 footing with her or she wants to be the housewife she's going to have to give some stuff up and give time to be in that. That's her decision to make.

    I sincerely thank you. You give me hope that there are still young women and men that aren't blind. To those of you that think that 50s housewives were depressed and oppressed... My grandma never had an actual job until her mid 50s. She only chose to get a job to help pay off the boat and camper etc. faster before grandpa retired. It's not that she didn't do anything. She kept the house immaculate, cooked 3 meals a day, baked bread basically daily along with pies and cakes, crocheted and cross stitched and even sewed things like wedding gowns, had the most amazing vegetable garden and did all kinds of canning of everything. She taught me how to cut up chickens (btw Gordon Ramsey has it all wrong) and rabbits and fry fish. She didn't clean the fish because she generally outfished everyone and it was like her pass. She was the authority in the household as well in a lot of ways. Even grandpa was sol if he missed her cooking breakfast. She was always involved with the community especially when it came to the kids. She sewed all of my dads boyscout troops stuff and my aunts girls scouts and was very active with both. She was a true professional homemaker and she loved it. She took pride in it and she was damn good at it. What today's society is lacking is the ability to actually tend to a family and just as important a community in healthy and constructive ways. We need more grandma's! Lol or at the very least clear thinking and intelligent young women such as yourself. 👍

Some were trapped in very abusive marriages and it was incredibly difficult for them to get out of. I am very glad though that your grandma had a good life. That's what it should have been for every one. Unfortunately, that's not the case for every couple of that era and, unfortunately, it's even less so now. BTW, not every modern woman is like this. My pet's a spider, I never went around hopping on guys dicks like that, (1 bf and 1 "d" only please), though I wouldn't want kids I'm open to marriage, (my bf says I make good food), never aborted anything, and what's only fans for anyway?

    The culture shock is real! 😂 My mother was a 50s housewife and is now in her 80s. She does not understand modern women at all. I tried explaining OnlyFans to her the other day and she did not understand why so many young women thought it was such a great idea and not degrading. She was horrified when she learned about dick pics. Especially, the part about men sending them unsolicited. Don’t even get her started about what the sexual revolution did and how sexually promiscuous so many women are today.
    What’s also frustrating is the difference between the reality of what an actual 50s housewife’s life was like and what the modern woman “believes” it was, is night and day. My mom is the strongest person I know, is incredibly intelligent and the most caring person ever. She ran the household, took care of all the finances, including their rental properties, raised 8 children and was a army wife. Together my parents built an amazing life. They’ve been married 67 years and my dad lives by the motto “A happy wife equals a happy life.” Women today act like women in the past had no agency and must have been miserable or just weren’t smart enough to realize how horrible their lives were. Which couldn’t be further from the truth.

    I would personally not want to live in the 50s. As a woman of color, the 50s would be a hellscape for someone like me. Everything I could use from bathrooms, schools, and water fountains would be junk, since colored fountains and buildings were all old and run down. Racism was the norm back then. In the 50s, women couldn't have their own bank account, could not buy or sell property, had little control of their earnings in most situations, and were discouraged from acting politically, such as hold office. I couldn't marry a white man to get a more privileged life either, since more than 90% of Americans back then were against interracial marriage.
    Moldly and rusted water fountains, run down and dusty buildings, forced poverty, no chance to earn a sufficient income, and no control over my money and no chance to fulfill my dreams. This would be my life if I lived in the 50s. Instead of romanticizing that era, women today should be thankful they don't have to live in that time period.

    • @deek8989
      @deek8989 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@lanaaddict3799 Of course. As long as she's as devoted to her kids, and doesn't put her entire effort into her job, she can definitely be one, which I know can be hard, but if you want to be considered traditional but still work, that's what you unfortunately have to do. However, traditionally, the man provides for the house, and the women raises the kids, therefore, if a women works, she should enjoy it, and not work in a job she hates for "the money," because the husband should take care of that. Women are capable of anything, however, her ultimate and number 1 duty for ANY mother should be to take care and raise the kids, then her passions should come next. This is where the subjectivity comes in, you don't have to agree, but personally, since it's a man's duty to provide yet also mentor the children, and it's the women's duty to take care and nurture the child, working for a women should be optional, and cooking/cleaning for a man should be optional, because sticking to their duties should be of utmost importance. Sorry it was long, but i hope that answers your question.

She had me in the 90s when she came to italy where, while studying her subject for her last book, she met my father and created a family here. Also with me, she wrote and attended the house, she studied, she taught me everything she could, she gladly helped my dad with his job. I was born in 1950, and I do have memories of almost all women wearing dresses, and the men mostly wore either suits or at least dress pants. Most men wore hats, and women wore headscarves. Blue jeans were kids clothing, and a man's work cloths. In 1969, I started a factory job, and I was asked by a couple of the older women why I wore nice cloths to work in. I only owned 1 pair of Levi's. It was different world for kids to grow up in. Much better than today's world. I think a woman looks better in a dress than in slacks.

      @@jellyfishi_ - 30 years ago, I was being insulted for being a stay-at-home mom by a couple of teachers that worked in the elementary school where I volunteered. Funny, how that works. I stay home to care for my children, supporting them in their schooling and get disregarded when I helped in the classrooms, library, field trips, field days and carnivals.
      Without the help of the stay-at -home moms, or sometimes other caregivers, this school would not have been able to help children of the single moms/dads or any other child with individual attention in the subjects they were having difficulty with. Every time I entered the school as a volunteer, there were adult volunteers in the halls working with children in one way or another. I thought it was a great idea, and, since we lived in a rather rural area, the school was the meeting place for a lot of after school activities. So, no, this is not a new attitude. It might be more pronounced or in your face, but it's not new. Anyone else see the absurdity of this?

    JP is about the least girly male on the planet. And an absolute gem. That was one of the cutest skits I've seen in ages. Certainly sums up the impossible position some modern women put themselves in.

    Thank you for this, Brett and JP. I have been married for 33 years and I am a 50's housewife. I love everything about it. I guess I'm lucky because I don't have any friends who tear me down because I stay home and take care of my family, it's the opposite. My female friend say they wish they had a husband like mine or hope to find one someday and the men say they wish they had a wife like me or hope to find one. I feel sorry for the "woke" . I pray they find peace and love. Btw, I need that dress! Where did you get it?

      @@jamesbacon1776because maybe that fits the lifestyle they are leaning towards. Maybe they don't plan to get married and instead want to work for their money and spend it on what they would like. There's many reasons just like why a woman would prefer to stay at home and support her family that way.

      There aren’t a lot of men that have enough earnings to let a woman stay at home and everything is getting more expensive. I want to have higher education and not rely only on my man’s money because in case of divorce and other things i would be in a bad financial situation so it would have consequences for my kids too. To sum up i think that lifestyle suits me more
