Golden words of wisdom for our everyday life to be happy wherever we are. He also nailed it saying the US is the best place to work and India is the best place to retire. Ignore the irritants that come along our way.
Thanks for watching and sharing some of the key insights from the episode. Have a great day👍
India will become the elderly capital of Indians worldwide.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Another big factor inour lives is the enormous pressure India exerts on you mentally to come back home on ones visits to India.😊
We too came back to India after spending 25 years in Africa. Our 2 Sons are in USA and Canada.
My personal experience in making the move back to India is "no regrets ".I can only agree totally with what is expressed here. 5:57
Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts. Would you be open to share your journey with us. If so can please send a note to info @ desireturn . Com

Happy to hear good things about Madhya Pradesh!

Roots in india Gujarat born in Africa Kenya 🇰🇪 and raised my children in USA 🇺🇸 enjoying life and retirement in USA 🇺🇸 ❤
Thanks for sharing your story. Glad to know that you are enjoying lofe and retirement in US.
Drawing great inspiration from Mr n Mrs Ramakrishnan. Service with such purpose 👏 Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!! Glad you liked it
@@DesiReturnSo glad found your site! In same dilemma as much NRI retirees n these videos give insights n shared experiences. priceless ! best wishes, Syd, Australia
@@AnRa19 That’s fantastic. Good luck with your transition!
You get groceries deliveries / medicine delivered, haircuts done at home/ easy domestic help/ food delivery though some things aren't as predicated/ reliable/ you'll find genuine people.
True. You have to work through the system and its not seamless yet
Another very insightful video. Kudos to you Avinash !
It is apparent that this is not your typical retired couple, they seem highly accomplished and i cannot imagine what their investment portfolio would be given their 50/50 mantra! Times unfortunately now are different compared to their time in the US. Easier to save 50% when you have 20k a month as opposed to 3k. Regardless, they hit the nail on the head about the dollar going a lot further in India and it makes FINANCIAL sense to stick on in the west AS LONG as you are able to save a fair amount regularly. But the decision to relocate is definitely not purely financial.
At this age it makes so much more sense to be in a place where conveniences are in abundance. Very important to be as self sufficient as possible and build a community of like minded individuals especially if you know you may not have family to support you during these years.
Would have loved to know more about Indore as that seems to be coming up as a preferable place to relocate to in retirement.
Thanks so much! Very well said.. Glad you enjoyed it and I am really grateful for this young couple to be able to share their journey which is very insightful for a lot of people.
Inspiring for all seniors and retired
For sure. Also doing service and active at that age is hats off… wish I can be 50% of their energy levels.
Thank you for this informational video and interview with this wonderful and happy senior couple.
May I have more information on the senior residence where they are located?
Glad you liked the discussion. They live in Bangalore. Please reach out to us at info @ desireturn.com or on instagram at desireturn.official to provide more information about guests. Thanks
You're doing great job
Thanks a lot for the feedback! Glad you are liking the content.
We don't need 25 mins of discussion for that.
It's simple, power of purchasing disparity.
The can live for one year peacefull ly with 1 month pension from US.
Agree to some extent. Its not only purely financial aspect, there is quality aspect, life after the move etc., without all those details, story would be incomplete. Thanks for watching
It's as easy as you'd say. Moving from one country to another takes a lot of thinking/ effort, it's a big decision, certainly having enough money makes it's a little easier. This forum is for that I believe..share one's experience, knowledge etc. for me it's good to know what others think/ their experiences..I'd do my own research too..with all of it helps me to make a better informed decision.
@@Rainbow_1981well said. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts
Good one though they could have talked a lot more. I am much younger & I have been living in India for the last 3 years. His talk about tax is only half correct. He is right about setting off the tax paid but he fails to mention the higher taxes in India. The second I wish he had talked which community he was living in Blr
On point no. 1 I cannot overlook the fact he is a CA and would have done proper due diligence but I did an exercise with a CA on my global income being taxed in India, I found Indian threshold is very low for highest tax bracket of 35%+. Any one with Social Security in US will easily cross that limit. In US we probably get charged 15 to 20% . The limit as I know is Rs.10,00,000/-. I will be keen to get his views on how we can avoid the additional 15% you end up paying on the same income levels compared to US
I would like to join Mr. Ramakrishnan’s community if possible. I am 80 my wife 72. Our children are in the USA. We are in search of a suitable Senior Home. Presently we are in Chennai.
Replied to your email sir. Thanks for reaching out and good luck!!
Nice talk.
Thank you for watching!
Please bring ankit Shah for discussion brother 🥰🇮🇳☺️❤️ debate about dedollarization
Hello Desi return, my husband is in the supply chain and he's currently a director in a private organization, we are US citizens. He applied to several companies in India and Singapore but all were rejected, why is no one in India and Singapore willing to proceed further? Asking because want to understand the reason for so many rejections so if there's something we can change accordingly. Also, we search jobs in LinkedIn and there are not many supply chain executive/ director level jobs in India and Singapore, don't understand why because India should be having lots of Supply Chain job especially considering the population.
Thanks for reaching out. Especially for senior roles, its important to to network with hiring managers in desired companies and reach out on how one will add value. I would expect quite a feq supply chain jobs in India. If you have firther questions, please reach out to us at info @ desireturn.com or on insta desireturn.official. All the best!
Great series and very helpful! One question I would ask is about Medicare , since it is paid during our work life in US. How can it be claimed outside US?
Thanks for watching. I am not sure if it covers healthcare outside US.
In general, Medicare does not cover health care or supplies outside of the United States, including India. Medicare usually does not cover medical care you receive when traveling outside the U.S. and its territories.
@@bscsmscs1578 Thanks for your response! So we have to take health insurance in India to cover all expenses probably good idea to share those info during these sessions to plan for it . Thanks again!
@@DesiReturn thanks for your quick response! Maybe you can ask those questions next time :-)
Yes need to take health insurance in India. What questions for you have. You can reach out to us at info @ desireturn .com
What is the name of this community in Blore. Love to learn and replicate the same Ramakrishnan uncle

How much money needed for a couple to have a comfortable life style in india?
I know it depends on your life style but is there any $ amount?
As you rightly pointed, it depends on on your lifestyle, travel etc., assuming you have own house, no kids education you can easily live with 50k- 2 lkh per month ra based on location and lifestyle
What would be a good health insurance to take in advance for retired life
It's better to take the health insurance before returning to India (2-3 years before) so all the pre-existing conditions are covered etc., but have high deductible to minimize the costs. Please reach out to us for any specific questions at info @ desireturn .com
Is there a similar set up in Chennai also ? Kindly provide contact details of the facility
It's only one facility in Banglore and that it is non-profit run by Mr and Mrs. Ramakrishnan with others. Thanks for watching!
U have good retirement home in Coimbatore

Thanks for watching!
Can you please share the contact details of Mrs & Mr Ramakrishnan so that we can discuss on their Community Living at Bengaluru
Please send a note to info at desireturn . com or on our instagram handle at desireturn.official Thanks
I would also like to connect with Mr. & Mrs. Ramkrishna Lin. What a positive attitude! I wonder where their children are living, most of the desi here are stuck because their grown up children are here. The question is how much can you count on having children close by?
Please provide contact information of the couple. It matches with our situation
Please reach out to us at info at desireturn .com and on our instagram handle at desireturn.official Thanks
I concur with what the respected couple say. In west, you live a servant less life. Your organs are taxed more even after crossing 60/70/80/90 years. Medical help and diagnosis is very slow. They call it self sufficiency, but in a way it’s disgrace. No mercy. Indian life is a luxury life that you won’t get anywhere in the world. One needs God’s real blessings to have such an opportunity. Stay blessed dear uncle and auntie.
Whoever get OCI - Citizenship wherever they live in the world they need to pay tax for USA. All senior citizens get 1000 above dlrs per month.
Pl let me know where is this retirement home?
Please reach out to us at info @ desireturn .com

To retire in India is a biggest mistake one can make.
Any reason why you say that way? Would love to hear your thoughts.
NO. I SEE 80-90 YEAR OLD PEOPLE WHO DRIVE EVERYWHERE BY THEMSELVES AND LIVE BY THEMSELVES. MOST OF THEM EVEN WORK IN STORES. IT TAKE 2-4 MONTHS FOR PRIMARY CARE VISIT ALSO.
They r all a burden for India and in India
They are tax paying residents
What makes you tonsay like that
They provide employment for others in India, and pay taxes.
That is a plus for India.
Do make it clear as to how they are a burden
You realise that though they are retired, they are running a ngo, tax paying, running a much needed community service, and providing jobs. You may be the jobless burden here in this comment section.
