    Taking care of the Parents is the first and top most priority point.

      I don't see this as a debatable topic. There is no right or wrong answer here. Making convenience for them, living with them are two different things. Depends what your family's thought process is. Which is a personal choice.

    • @natarajanbaradwaj3560
      @natarajanbaradwaj3560 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@askyella this is very contextual. When newly married, the same seniors take great pride in saying their children live abroad and are very happy visiting them. Grandchildren are then born and they grow up abroad, become foreign nationals and take deep roots where they live. The grandparents then become very old and need attention. We bring them over to live with us. This may not work for them for whatever reason, weather, nothing to do when we are at work, need to baby sit grandchildren who can be a handful etc . They are then happier settled in some elite Senior Citizens home in India where everything is provided for including high quality fresh food 3 times a day which is a luxury and almost impossible to provide abroad where both husband and wife work. With online facilities today, managing their finances is easy. CCTV is installed to monitor and day and night care nurses employed who attend 24/7. On vacations and emergencies we fly over to either spend time with them or attend to their emotional needs while all medical help is being given. Duty to our children becomes priority and yes, it is not easy attending to key priorities spread geographically. There is an element of compromise which cannot be avoided. All the same, duties are being attended to with the best efforts under these circumstances. It is the emotion that needs control in such circumstances.

    Nice video sir. But I think you should have as well added that the NRI visiting India also takes time to visit Health centres to have a complete Health check up of self and spouse as well as Dental check up considering that these things costs a fortune in the Western countries. Mostly NRIs forget to take care of their health and therefore this needs to be in your check list. And that makes it 11 point.

    I am a chartered accountant myself, living outside India and couldn't agree more to each and every point mentioned in your video. Very clear and precise presentation. India vacations are stressful and/or overwhelming for a number of reasons inc the once in your list. But doing these simple account maintenance certainly makes the trip(and all the future once) pleasant.
    What i noticed in my recent trip was most of the govt related things are online and if updated correctly, you have easy stress-free access to anything (aadhar, pan, driving license, car RCs, property details, educational certificates etc). Everyone should take benefit of the same and be more responsible with financial and social commitments.

    Very good and very practical advice! All these works take time and patience. But most importantly ..need correct documents. Work gets stuck even if you don't have one documents. So I would like to add one thing...check required document list for particular work beforehand ,when ever possible either from net or from local agents,friends and take those documents with you! Also I have always wondered about the rule that NRI s can not keep local bank account. Sir, an NRI status can change ovenight on losing job as many of us seen during Covid. And then you have to start as resident all over again. Considering that why does not govt allow one resident account. Also I have a querry , can we have a joint account with a resident for practical purpose and ease of payments through Google pay etc which is so common now in India?

    The term NRI although defined is at best only a " partial" definition. It does not clarify the status of those who are OCI card holders.By definition OCI is Overseas Citizen of India. OCI holders are "supposed" to get the same benefits as citizens barring 3-4 things. However the Adhaar act doesn't clarify if they are eligible for the card and if so when and how.
    This leaves it open to interpretation at the whim and fancy of the official and leads to corruption.

    1. Is there a difference between NRI’s who are Indian citizens, and NRI’s who are OCI holders or foreign citizens. For example if one starts off as an Indian citizen NRI and then becomes an American citizen is there any change in status for bank accounts etc.
    2. Do NRI’s need to link PAN to Aadhar.
