Uhh yeah, growing up on a farm, my Dad would have beat my butt. Tearing up equipment or wasting time like that was a no no. I was Brax's age driving a 500K machine, but it was not a toy to us. And we knew it.

As usual is good to see the three of y'all working on engine together that young man is going to have something to remember the rest of his life when you got people that got negative attitudes about stuff that means they don't know nothing about a motor if you want to turn Emma's up to 1,000 horsepower you do it but I'm a Detroit Motor man myself keep doing what you do

Brax is doing awesome and gonna be a great mechanic, he has a good teacher. Detroits are great engines, one of the best ever, but so is a Cat. I say keep the Cat cause it will have more value than the Detroit, although I know you’ll never sell it. Cat’s are hard to beat!

Another great video, watching 3 generations working on the truck together . And I am glad that you just happened to catch the things starting to go wrong with the motor in time, before it caused major problems. I would leave the Cat in the truck and stay with it . I'm wishing you all the best with getting the motor all straightened out and back together with no problems .
I will see you all later, so be careful and stay safe and keep on working on the trucks .
    As always, Jeffrey !!!

looking good, i would want to change out that front balancer while i was at it. i think the cat book says to change it every 500k or 10 years whichever comes first. over time the silicone inside the balancer gets hard & then it stops doing it's job. changed one on an old 11.1L & it was like i put a different engine in & i think the truck revved a little faster too.

I definitely don't think Tim is greedy, far from it really. He's always giving and sharing with other people. I think we're all guilty of seeing something and dream about owning it. If you're willing to work for it, that ain't no problem. It's only a problem when we're not happy unless we always looking for the next thing to buy and not taking enough time to enjoy what we already have like family, friends and good health.

(All CAT) I have no plans on ever getting anything newer either. Reliability of the truck, and being able to do our own maintenance when we have to is an owner operators only edge nowadays to try carve out some profit.

I’m a believer in signs or omens or whatever you want to call them. I think this cam going out when it did (as soon as you said you were joining the convoy) was a sign from God that you weren’t supposed to be there. You are where He wants you, He works in mysterious ways. I understand and support your reasons for wanting to be there buddy but I feel that something isn’t quite right and something is going to go sideways. I have no insider information, it’s just a gut feeling. Ours (Canada’s Freedom Convoy) took a turn for the worse and my gut tells me that this one will too. I hope I’m wrong.

Not because I think I can't do the work but because I'm 5'9" and 145 pounds on a good day before I take a shit. And I work alone 97% of the time. I'm more worried about getting hurt just moving parts around lol. Big trucks takes big boys but brax is fearless and would spin circles around me in anything bigger then a DT466

Great comment...I started my apprenticeship at 15 1/2 to be a heavy earthmoving mechanic...I was 7 stone wringing wet and was laughed at that I would never be able lift a spanner let alone final drives ect....it all about the application rather than brute force...came across a bloke one day built like a brick shithouse struggling to undue the head bolts on a very large generator engine...got up there and undid them like they were loose...the look on his face was a joy to behold...

2 Thumbs up for Brax. Siskell and Ebert would have been thoroughly entertained. Aghast even, in certain phrases of the plot.

I feel your pain, my '03 Pete C15 had a rocker get loose as well and ate the cam lobe. I decided to put in a 800 marine cam and 625hp injectors. Was it expensive? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes.

Condolences to Larry's family. I noticed that if you set Brax on something he goes all out including seeing what a dozer and a golf cart can do

Anytime a you wipe out a lobe on the valve train most of the time the roller seezes do to warn rocker bushings, tight over head, or just cheap parts. If it was a driver issue all the lobes would be gone cause you know head drives with his foot in the rad.

Braxton reminds me of my boy. Always got something funny to say. Like the video I did changing the starter and injectors on the fld cummins talking about the motor blowing again cause I’m working on it. Lol
