I think professional subs of live music used this apex surround for the same reason

You can't get original cones etc. That's why when my 10" Xtant X2 subs die that will be the end of them. They are a hexagon shape, look really cool but no way to rebuild them and keep the original shape. Would have to convert them to round.
You can likely rebuild your subs, find the coil diameter it needs and can buy a generic drop in cone. You can likely upgrade them to take even more than before but they won't look the same.

I managed to get a smoking deal on some MTX stuff by a local store that was closing up. I bought two 5510-22(10" dvc 2 ohm), two 5512-44(12"dvc 4 ohm) and a 10" and 12" square sub. Paid $300 for the 4 round subs and $250 for the 2 square subs and he gave me free MTX enclosures for the square subs.
Ive always liked MTX and one of my cars currently has an all MTX build besides the headunit. Everyone who hears the car is impressed and when they find out its all MTX and how little I have invested, theyre blown away.
Cant wait to see what they are going to drop in 2024/2025. Theres a bunch of new stuff coming.

I'm thinking about purchasing a pair of these subs. What kind of life can I expect from these? I love the feel it in your soul kind of pounding bass , do these produce really pounding bass?

That would be the 95 series. I have a 9500 15". With 700rms running powering. It beats the hell out of my ford five hundred. Get a vented enclosure. I had a 12" 9500about 6 years ago. in a fully sealed enclosure. With close to 1200rms running in to it. I had the te1501d amp. Yes everything you find on that amp. Will say 1000rms at 2ohm. It's underrated. My 600 sub lasted only a little over a year. Due to two factors. I think. It was getting to much power in a fully sealed enclosure. Witch was built to manual spec. I even had it double faced for more support. I think it might have over heated. Odd thing was. It just stoped working one day. No smell came from it. when I took it out of the enclosure. It still looked brand new. So I thought it was the amp. Hooked one of my 6x9s on the amp. Amp worked fine. Just couldn't figure out why it wasn't working. So this time. On my 15" I got a amp with less power and put it in a 1" thick, 4sqft. vented enclosure tuned to 35hz. So far it's lasted longer than my 12" did, and way louder than my 12" way louder. Sounds great with music. If you enjoy misc. The bass don't over come the vocals. Like some do. I went with one sub. Swear to you. If I had two. A back corner panel would be flapping in the wind. The subs wind. Lol Yes I have the back seat down and it still sounds like. It's about pop off my trunk deck.

Power them properly and with a quality amp, don't clip them and they should last many many years. I have MTX Thunder 8000 subs from 2001 that still pound to this day. Good quality stuff if you take care of it properly. Subs usually only blow up from user error.

I have 2 mtx 55-44 12's. They sound clean. They are powered by a 1500rms skar amplifier class D mono block.

These subs are rated for 750 rms but off the record does anyone know if they can take 1000 rms clean? I'm trying to decide on 2 dual 4 or dual 2 ohms based on my amp.
