I had a few Phoenix gold amps back in the day that were bad ass at a dollar a watt. But none of them can compare to the shit now for a lot cheaper. I have a 8,000 watt amp that is unbelievably powerful my gain is all the way off and its still too much.
So BigD...you've been in this business long enough to know that just 10 years ago an amp which could drive a sub 1 ohm load would have been considered state-of-the-art. So yes. They lied about it's capabilities. Pretty typical in the car audio world. But within it's capabilities...say 500 watts into 4 ohms...it's a pretty decent performer.
Well after seeing the rms at over 1k & finding this amp for $127 incl taxes. Got it for my kid for Xmas. Haven't had time to install but after seeing the do it bump tho! 😁 I'm he's gonna be happy with it. Finally got it hooked up & it bumps
Great video as always Big D. The 3x40 fuses gave it away for me as about 1200 real watts, but you are right, some people have no idea how much of a lie 8k is from this amp. Having said that, it did have your Savard Hi-Q's bumpin! 1200 watts for $140 isn't terrible, I just wish they were honest about it
Back in the 90’s I’d take it for $150 for the amount of power it puts out and would of have had a lot more money in my pocket compared what I spent back then.
I agree 100% it should be ILLEGAL to sell an amp with a rating like this. I could understand if it output even half of the rated power at 1ohm but certified it puts out way less than 20% of it's advertised power at 1ohm! That's criminal if you ask me. I'm sure some will say "well it puts out about 2k dynamic at 1ohm and it's cheap!" but that's still only 25% of the supposedly 8k it's being sold as! What if you bought a computer, even a cheap one and the CPU in it only ran at 15-25% of it's rated speed at a maximum? You'd return it as defective! But it's supposed to be OK in the car amp world? I think not!

What's the sense in that? It's not going to tell you much other than how thick one manufacturer makes the back plate vs. other manufacturers back plate. I figured that out once when comparing a Soundstream amp vs. Hifonics. The Soundstream was quite a bit heavier and found out when removing the plate to see inside, the plate was extremely heavy vs. Hifonics paper thin plate.

Ok. Got to post this, he did a Dyno on a ignite r/1600 it did great so I bought one... I've got 2 SKAR SVR-12 D2 wired @.5 ohm and I've been hammering the heck out of the 12's and no protect, no shut off. Nothing. The ignite amps are awesome or at least the one I've got is.

Good video. I’m actually surprised I see these amps all over but for some reason they just screamed 300 watts down hill wind behind in a lightning storm. For 149 1800 watts isn’t bad just plan on getting custom 1800 watt decals to cover the shit stain on the front
Also another thing to consider regarding efficiency is the wasted power must be dissipated by the heatsinks! A 75% efficient 10kW amp must be able to dissipate 2500W! Unless it's water cooled (with a huge radiator mind you!) or absolutely HUGE, it's gonna get super hot really fast. This is why touring (PA) amps are super efficient (best designs mid 90s) and have screaming fans to keep the air moving. Once your silicon reaches its max temp, it has to shut down or cut output which in the case of live performance duty is not acceptable. Of course auto duty is nowhere near 100%. Alternators and batteries would founder fairly quickly with those draws! Also with the IR gun shooting metal, it's not going to record temps accurately without either adjusting something called emissivity. If this isn't possible, put some blue masking tape on a smooth part BEFORE beginning tests and meter that. Granted a shiny box (RF 1000 Pro) is going to really be off whereas a bead blasted metal matte finish will be closer to reality. I'm definitely "old school" and my friend, those watts are called Pyramid Watts! :P

I gotta admit I’m impressed with the actual output. It does roughly 10% the “rated” power but yet it held up at .5 and out out 2k. Would be interesting to see this amp wired at .5 ohm and abused all day at an event.

I had a 6000 watt amp just like this 2 15unch kicker with 2 solo basic 12in kickers. Broke my entire hatch to my equinox

Rockville Car Audio gives you the system on how to rate these mega amps. It is to divide its max rating by four, to get its max power output.

What is the fuse situation like on your model? Take the fuse rating and multiply by 10. That should give you about the correct RMS power.

Yeah they pay extra for advertising. This video will unfortunately lead to more sales for them as people will see there is a video and not watch and learn 🤦♂️
I gotta admit I’m impressed with the actual output. It does roughly 10% the “rated” power but yet it held up at .5 and out out 2k. Would be interesting to see this amp wired at .5 ohm and abused all day at an event.
