  • Paramedics respond to a call of an ex-nurse in agony with stomach pain. A motorway fire delays the paramedics's rush to hospital as they stop to make sure no one is injured. Elsewhere paramedics rush to the aid of a man who has suffered a head injury.
For the very first time, an ambulance has been rigged with cameras that provide a unique perspective on what it's like to respond to emergency calls. 'Inside The Ambulance' follows paramedics from the West Midlands Ambulance Service in England as they take us right into the heart of the action. We see heroism at work in the actions of these first responders. We also enter the lives of people in crisis and learn their unique stories.

@@katymcginn4644 thank you for your reply. Maybe it was because I was a nurse first in critical care that I have such a respect for the whole community of health care workers. 3 of my sisters are nurses, and my own daughter is starting nursing school this fall. My job in the ER is so much easier than that of first responders because I have access to everything I need to hopefully have a good outcome. The pain from that strangulated colon was right up there, if not worse. Was around a 7 pain wise but when it cramped went right up to 8-9. The nurse with the stomach pain reminds me of the time I was in a big box store and called 911 because
I was having severe stomach pain, which was causing me to run back and forth to the bathroom it also caused me to become dehydrated.
Soon after the paramedics arrived, they received a call about a man who was currently having a heart attack.
They then asked me if it was okay for them to accept the run (they were the closest Paramedics to where the man was located).
    I told them
"Yes, I insist that y'all accept it
I'll be here when y'all get back doing what I have been doing before y'all got here."
They thank me and then called another ambulance for me.
When I was in an emergency treatment room, the first two Paramedics came into the room to thank me again and told me that because of my kindness, the man who was having a heart attack is going to survive.
I asked them what would have happened if I said no?
I was told they would have taken me to the hospital and called another ambulance for the man.

I’ve, sadly, had lots of hospital stays here in the US, as well as at least 5 emergency ambulance rides. I SO much disagree with these comments about the low quality of care from the EMT’s and hospital staff. I have always been treated with so much kindness and love as well as professionalism. I always wish I could do something wonderful for my caregivers to show my extreme gratitude.
