I love the way they talk to the unresponsive even tho they can't answer and treat them with such kindness it's so beautiful. They know their patients can hear them and they talk calmly. Good job guys!
@@sinclari1 even when actively dying, people can still hear. Which is why in hospice family are advised to still talk to them, and NOT to talk about them, during this phase.
Kia Ora from 💚New Zealand. We have St. John's over here. I have never had to use them, yet. Cross fingers lol. I always enjoyed 24 hours in a&e but have recently found your show. Such kind caring people all of them. A different perspective to the beginning of the journey. We used to live in small rural town in Northland 2 hours from hospital. My beautiful husband suffered an aneurism and ambos had to take him to put him in the helicopter. I couldn't drive in the pitch black night and son had to come 2 hours to get me and of course 2 hours back to hospital. Unfortunately he passed away but I still remember the staff and doctors being so kind. They even let me think I was giving them the right to turn off the machine because hubby and I had discussed this before. My son told me later hubby had already passed but they took that time to allow me control. I love your programme because it reminds me of the real kindness of people. Sorry to ramble but now I am 80 it takes away some of my own fear. Thank you. Arohanui
I had a roommate who had Borderline personality disorder and she used to frequently self harm. She did it once in our apartment and tried to hide it but she cut all up her arms and legs. I had to clean it up and bandage her while she cried, embarrassed that I had to do it for her. Honestly it’s pretty traumatic and it’s to the point now where I don’t remember seeing what I was doing. I really just had to pull out of myself and my fear and take care of her.
You did really well! The likelihood is that your friend had like flashbacks coming as anxiety (because the initial trauma was not the same as is needed for Post Traumatic Stress), hence she tried to stop those emotions by having something else to think about like pain or just focusing on her immediate grievances. I understand it was really traumatic for you, though. You should talk to somebody about it, if it bothers you at all.
@@samhartford8677 thank you! It’s been about 10 years now so it doesn’t necessarily bother me as much as other things she did (like lie to me about several situations that ruined my friendships with other people, etc.) but I think it proved to me that I am able to push aside fear and trauma in order to help someone who is hurting or sick. I had a similar situation with a friend who had an asthma attack at my apartment without her inhaler. Super scary but I helped her through it until her parents arrived.
I’m so glad that you could be there for her. I deal with self harm myself, but the only person that knows is my therapist. I’ve gotten really good at bandaging myself up.
I would be crying treating hubert... dementia is a horrible cruel and terrifying thing to have after such a long live and probably many challenges won you just get that and you just well are no more...
Lord knows that I miss my daddy every day but I continue to thank God for taking daddy when He did cause he was in the early stages of dementia. He was born in 1911 and lived for 80 years. And his memory was a book to an amazing story that he lived and loved. Rest In Peace sweet daddy of mine, you're loving baby!
My grandma was 86 when she died this january. She had had dementia for about 8 years and people say dementia patients die within 8 to 10 years from the start and it was quite accurate with her. She still recognized us but forgot about everything that happened a short time ago. My grandma took care of her until the end and she was about to go to a care home but didn't have the chance to. I think it was the right time she didn't have to suffer anymore.
The woman asking her to come with her was so sweet. I feel so bad for her. The fear of miscarriages is scary and very sad but at least she already has 4 other children.
I've had many head injuries, hope I don't ever lose my hair as my skull is quite lumpy! Only was taken to an urgent care once after a guy dropped me on my head and I was so sick afterwards...got home finally and went to sleep. When I woke early sick again and with a horrid headache and lump on my head I woke my dad and he just got mad thinking I had been drinking. But I hadn't and was not given much of an exam at the health center. I think they just thought I was drug seeking or didn't care since I was a teen. I am a petite person, and it's always been difficult to get people to take me seriously or respect me. Nice to be old now and almost done with this world. Life's been difficult and I look forward to my eternity in Heaven! Not suicidal, so nobody freak out on me. I'm a disabled/retired RN so I really enjoy these shows. I think UK healthcare may be better than here in the US from the shows I've been watching.
I appreciate the fact they didnt treat Roxanna like she was crazy because its really not helpful when someone with bpd has an episode and then when they come down and start rationally thinking again the people continue to treat them like theyre crazy. We understand the seriousness we understand the way it looks, but during the episode without proper coping skills you'll do anything to relief yourself
My mom was an ambulance chaser. She’d pile us kids in the car take off. Miss you mom.😊 She could have been watching but internet wasn’t invented then. ( this was early 60’s)
@@ameliavelasco8602 I can, but I'm just saying that if someone likes to skip the intro and the chit-chat, I can help by showing how much to skip. I myself would like that.
Roxanna - or anyone who needs to hear it! If your pets don't like your partner, get rid of the partner!! They are very good judges of character, especially when we are struggling ourselves. I speak from experience. I was assaulted in my own home by a friend's boyfriend for defending my cat when he threatened to kill it because she didn't like him. The guy killed a man by beating him to death less than five days later. Needless to say, I moved out of that town so he didn't know where I lived.
I just think that their ambulance services are designed and intended for somewhat different purposes than ours is- it’s not the American EMS/paramedic’s fault, and they do an inarguably amazing job at what they’re trained and ultimately meant to do which is primarily respond to acutely critical life threatening emergencies (think of how Nightwatch is often much more intense and features situations that are more like the ones that the NHS “critical care” paramedics and mobile trauma doctors respond to….. but to be fair, in America we are just exponentially even better at responding to those just because of the higher level critical training and trauma-intensive their jobs are intended to be and often exclusively are focused on being). We in America have more structured health system before we get to the “Emergency Room/Hospital” level like family doctors, regular specialists like pediatricians and ob-gyns, physical therapy and similar resources, eye doctors and ophthalmologists, dentists and dental care resources, etc., plus urgent care clinics and community health clinics/resources (in their own locations and outside of the hospital) that are readily available and meant for the purposes of using for our general health that ultimately ideally then reserve ambulance/emergency services and hospital emergency rooms for acutely crucial life threatening situations and traumatic injuries etc. like I said before. Which is not to say that these guys in the UK don’t do an unbelievably incredible job at their roles in the NHS health system as their ambulance EMS/paramedic services either!!!!!!!!!!!! 💕🤷🏻♀️

Sometimes when unresponsive or even in a coma, people can hear you. Best play safe and save some psychological trauma

This show has made me day better it has
There is no way Chris should be drinking while taking seizure meds. Veronica's situation worries me. Why are her kids' heads shaved so closely?
Bit of a weird household indeed. Everything could be fine, but all together it gives me some red flags.
Great ambulance service.
