  • @PapaVanTwee5

    I have a MageGee, but it's a full size one, not the squished together one you guys have. Mine has mostly black keys with some grey and some red with extras to truly make the keyboard your own. The same model also has a white keyboard, with white and light blue keys, and a full keyboard extra of white to replace the blue, and pink to replace the white. So you could have a full white keyboard, or blue and pink or in between, it's "fun".
    It's not terrible, especially if you want red switches. My last keyboard, which my son uses for gaming now, were browns, and I liked their quietness, but found myself just slamming the keys instead of just typing. I also need a full keyboard, because in GTA V/Online, if you drive with a keyboard (while doing heists, etc.) you want to use the numpad to rotate forward/back when in the air. And for work... definitely for work.

    ive used plenty of 60% boards. I don't know how people use those efficiently vs fuller size key boards. out of this list, I love your first place Option, if it wasn't for my work flow, I'd go with that 1 as well. I got some 60%s as backups and for wireless use in bed or with phone/tablet. For sub-30 or even sub-20 with full RGB and puddings and all that, the value is just too good to pass up for that use-case, and you can sit it beside you or on your lap without it taking up so much space.
      For actual use though, yea I'd never ever use anything less than 100%/96%/1800 layouts, I use the numpad and arrow keys almost constantly, and my current board even has 5 more macros off to the left that I use as well. If I ever switch to a

      I agree too. I love my Sidewinder X6. It is my old keyboard that is still in use! For over 12 years now and I just started looking for replacement. None of those 60% are for me.

    • @MangoTangoFox
      @MangoTangoFox ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jurek-M7PWJ Haha, I had a sidewinder too! The snap up and down on that membrane board was just so good, I actually performed better in games with it than I did on the Cherry Brown mechanical I replaced it with. Real mechanical is a lot more satisfying to type on however.
      I've gotten some new boards now, I would highly recommend going with a 75% w/ knob or a TKL south-facing 5-pin hotswap mechanical board (or 65% if you can live without the F1-12), with a gasket mounted polycarbonate plate, and QMK/VIA firmware. Then get a separate numpad for the side, there are QMK/VIA ones, but they're on the pricier side and you may not need it, as some of the ones with proprietary software may be capable of doing the macros and layering that you want.
      For switches, they make heavy top-bump tactiles that feel so similar to the sidewinder with it's automated up or down positioning, very snappy and binary feeling, but with a more firm bottom-out. Epomaker (manufactured by Haimu) Budgerigar switches fit the bill, but there are a numbg of good options you could get samples for and try out. If you want them to instead be insanely quiet (way way more than the sidewinder), they also make heavy tactiles with silenced top and bottoms such as Outemu Yellow Cream/Jade and TTC Silent Bluish White.

    Definitely should have included the "E-YOOSO 60%" mechanical keyboard. It is hot swappable with 3 pin switches, has an aluminum panel, decent RGB, USB-C connection, and is under $25. I have modded it once, as I was testing the water with getting into custom keyboards lol. Some masking tape, silicone caulk, akko 3 pin linears, and key cap replacement made it actually sound quite good. After those mods, which bring the total to $60-80ish (including the keyboard) depending in how nice of keycaps and switches you want and it honestly sounds better than some $100-$120 custom keyboards I have bought (pre-my mods).

    I've had 2 mechanical keyboards, the velocifire, which is pretty great but a chonky boy, and the Redragon K618 Horus which was a piece of crap that I returned last week. I was considering getting the Logitech MX Master mechanical keyboard but can't justify spending almost $200 on a keyboard. I instead went with the Logitech MX Keys, it a little bit clicky but really nothing compared to an actual mechanical keyboard, i love it though but again it was a bit pricey coming in at $120. If I decide to go back to real mechanical keyborads I'll probably go with an RK Royal Kludge keyboard, they seem pretty affordable and really popular.

    I got a cheap Tezarre 60% keyboard from Amazon for like $30. It's currently on sale for $17.99. They have Gateron Optical switches, and when I bought mine, you could choose from like 4 or 5 different options (I went with blacks because I'm a heavy typer, so I like the stiffer feeling of this one) but right now, they only have the optical blues as an option, which might be why it's on sale for so little, just trying to clear out what they have left in stock. Oh, and it's usb c and hot swappable.

    • @mr.guillotine3766
      @mr.guillotine3766 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, it's also full RGB and came with pudding style caps...of course the main issue (to me) is that you are pretty limited on what switches you can swap in and out because optical ones aren't as common...though they are "faster" and last longer, so maybe if more people get into the opticals (should be slightly better for gaming due to them being faster and longer lasting IMO) then more companies will start making them.
      For me, the price and still having the option to swap the switches if I wanted to was a good way to get my broke ass into the mechanical keyboard scene without having to sell a kidney.

    Tezarre TK-63 Pro it's only $30 on Amazon; is BT + 2.4GHZ and USB-C charging cable. PCB uses 3 and 5 pins mechanical switches, Hot swappable. Let's do better next time guys!
    Also, the MSRP of this keyboard was $79 back on 2021. The company is radio silent (maybe just off from social media for the moment) but keyboards of this brand are In Stock everywhere.

    For gaming keyboards, linear switches are better cuz they are on the most hand faster also the stabs on the first are quite terrible and clicky switches are crap for streams. Is gonna catch attention. Most people also hate blue switches if you are a mechanical keyboard enthusiasts. If you have the money and time to modify any of these keyboards, go for it. It's gonna give you some great results.

    Okay. So it's been brought to my attention after my original comment that all of the keyboards except for one have basically returned back to their original price. The excluded one is completely out of stock and will never come back. The magegee is a solid keyboard. And I would recommend it for anybody that likes tactile mechanical keyboards. If you are a linear fan you might want to pass cuz it's kind of loud
