Really good information. The first time I wore a wig grip I wore it to church. I sing in the choir and before we went into the church I bent over to pickup my bulletin that had fallen from my music folder. My wig slipped right up the back of my head!! I nearly had a heart attack!! I was a nervous wreck all through church that I was going to lose my wig!! 🤦🏼 I definitely needed this tutorial. 💕
If wig companies understood how important it is to feel comfortable and secure while wearing wigs they’d be hiring you for their spokeswoman! Hands down the most needed information for all women who are wearing or trying to wear wigs! I never could get my wig band to work for me and now I know how! Many thanks!

Hands down, THE best tutorial on wig bands I’ve seen! I’ve been wearing wigs for almost 2 years and never quite figured out why some days my wigs stay put even through clothing changes, wind and rain while other days just finger combing will cause them to shift. Thank you!
Finally some one explained this properly! I couldn't even keep a wig grip on my head before this video. I am very new to wigs and reading and watching all the information I can. This was so extremely helpful! Thank you!

Just found this video and I'm so thankful I did. I started losing my hair after I was put into surgical menopause then it started falling out even more after COVID. Started trying to wear wigs. They would always slip. And the clips or combs would pull at my hair that I did have. I would sit and cry from being embarrassed of having no hair, then cry some more because the wigs were so uncomfortable and would slide. Discovered wig grips but they would slide too. I felt totally defeated. After watching your video I feel like I have hope now. Thank you for this so much for taking time to explain this.
Hi Jules! I’m so sorry to hear about your difficulties surrounding your hair loss. Unfortunately it’s a very common story for many of us. I truly hope that you are able to make the wig grip band work for you. I wouldn’t be able to wear wigs without it. Another thought I had is have you measured your head to see what size wig you need? I found also that I do so much better with a looser-fitting wig. It doesn’t creep up all the time, sticks to the wig grip band better and doesn’t pinch my head. Certain brands of wigs run small (Noriko, Ellen Wille) and some run a little looser(Raquel Welch, Paula Young). Please let me know if you are still having trouble with the wig grip band. I’d love to help you! Hugs and blessings to you! ❤️
I wondered why one day my wig would stay on and another day, it just kept slipping off the wig grip. I thought maybe the grip wasn't' tight enough. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! My wig grip is now marked with a dot and my wig will never again slip off!!! If you were here Coco, I'd give you a BIG HUG!!!! What a GREAT tutuorial!!!
You are so very welcome and it's my pleasure!! Isn't it amazing how simple a solution the grip band is, but if you don't know how to make it work, it can be soooooo maddening! I had that slipping thing happen to me many times before I figured it out!!! So I just HAD to share! So glad it helped you!!! And thanks so much for watching and sharing!! ~ Coco 🤗

As a seamstress I learned to call this pile, on velvets and velveteen. Great review. I have heard so many people on FB say wig grips do not work on them. Apart from the important and most useful facts of this video, I have to say, when Sandie slicked her bio hair back, she reminded me so much of Audrey Hepburn in looks! Very attractive lady of course and I am very envious! I am in awe of these ladies on You Tube who look amazing in almost every wig they show us. Sadly, only short hair suits me, although I'm experimenting with a Jaclyn Smith long wig which I am attempting to style in an up do! I have just bought a wig grip, having always only worn wig caps up to now. So much to learn! 😊
Ohmygoodness, what a wonderful compliment-thank you so much! Which JS long wig are you experimenting with? She has a great line and I love her colors and styles, too! Transitioning from short/long or long/short does take some time to adjust to!!! I thought I would never wear pixies or shorter bobs, but I really surprised myself by continuing to try shorter wigs, and finally my own mind got used to it! Took a couple of years, but now it doesn't matter what I wear in style or color-- I feel confident in them all (but I still have my favs!!!)! Keep at it Steffie!!! You might surprise yourself, too!!! And thanks so much for watching and sharing! Hugs, Coco 😊
I needed this video so very much. I have 5 beautiful wigs purchased in the last year (for onset alopecia) and haven’t yet figured out how to make the wig grips work for me. I spend at least an hour every week trying to figure this out. I’ve made appointments at salons that sell and style wigs. I’ve spent lots of money for an hour of the wig specialists trying to make my wigs work for me. I left both wig salons still not able to wear my wigs . It’s so frustrating. The ear tabs never lay flat, thus the wig grips just add more bulk and my ears stick out. As the alopecia progresses I feel I absolutely MUST figure this out sooner rather than later. Thank you for making sense of wig grips. I’m glad I found you on youtube.
I am so happy to have been of some help to you, Deb! (and welcome to my channel!!!) Dealing with all there is to 'wig wearing' can be EXTREMELY frustrating, much less dealing with the emotions of WHY we are needing to wear wigs!!!! That's one of the reasons I started my channel: to help others struggling with the same things I struggled with! I hope you continue t make progerss with your wig journey and enjoy the scenery along the way! Let me know if you would like to see anything else on my channel! If you have bio hair still, pull it back into a low, tight ponytail. Then sew two snap combs onto the circumference of your wig, 1 either side of the tags at the nape. Slide them into your bio hair and snap shut. My wig doesn’t move. I now don’t use a wig grip.
Fantastic information on wig grip bands. My wigs kept slipping off, so I followed your directions and tonight it is snug and feels secure. Thank you!!!
I'm a new wig wearer but I wear hearing aids over the ear. It is so awkward with everything. Thank you for showing your hearing aids. It gives me hope that things will get better with it all in wearing a wig and a grip.
Don't give up--You will get more comfortable wearing all these things together with time! If I can do it, so can you!!! 🤗 And thanks so much for watching and sharing!!! Hugs, Coco
Very helpful. i haven’t seen a good tutorial like this from anyone and I sure could have used this info about 10 years ago when I tried a wig band out. I threw it away because it didnt work for me!
Sandy...Thank you so much....This is an EXCELLENT tutorial!! I have lost my hair, due to having been sick with "c-ovid", so wigs are a new experience for me....By the way, there are beautiful orbs in your video...
Hi Sonia! You are very welcome! I’m so glad that my videos were helpful for you and sorry to hear about your hair loss due to Covid. You’ve found a great wig line to help you with your “Hair Solution!” Can I ask what you mean by Beautiful orbs?
@@cocoshairsolutions No, not a reflection but they seem to be “shooting” around the room at the beginning of your video. It doesn't appear to be dust either! They are incandescent and move fairly quickly. Good “spirits”! 😆 I have had thinning hair for the last 20 years but since getting the “vaccination” it has thinned even further (especially in the front). I bought my first (and only wig so far) about a month ago, Estetica Iced Mocha Ombre. I have been struggling to find the best way to secure it and to thin/style it so the front stops dropping into my eyes!

Very helpful. I recently bought two PY wigs plus the hairspray, metal brush, and wig grip band. This is new to me, and I didn't know how to use the band, so I put the wig on over my hair and went out. Fortunately the wig stayed on! The wig improved my appearance so much that I felt confident, and now that I know how to use the grip band I will feel even more confident! Also, I have pet house cats, all female, so I know what you mean about rubbing their fur the wrong way - doesn't work! Thanks so much for this very helpful video. 😻
Hi Ginny!!! Welcome to the world of wig-wearing! I'm so happy that you've had such a positive experience with your first wig(s)!!! They truly can make a huge difference in your confidence which will impact all other areas of your life! And I'm so glad you found the grip band to help--I wouldn't be able to wear wigs without it!!! (In fact, my first wig I had to sew all kinds of clips in it and it made more bald spots and pulled my hair, so I was THRILLED when I discovered this wonderful product!!!) Thanks so much for watching and sharing! You have a great week!!! Hugs, Coco
OMG this review is awesome! I have to admit that I have never seen a tutorial on wig grips that helped me like this! Finally my wig grips work! Thanks!

Thank you so much.I've been wearing Paula Young's Dylan, and haven't had much problem keeping in on the past couple days since I got it. But, I also got PY Bindi. Long and heavier. I got them both in #4 Dark Brown. I'm thinking about getting my next wigs in # 8 Medium Golden Brown, which was my natural color before I started coloring my hair dark brown. This was such a big help.
Now I have to go searching for the grip band I bought a long time ago. It no doubt will work like the proverbial charm now that I know how to use it. Thank you! Thank you!
Such great information! I’ve always wondered why sometimes my wig grip works well and sometimes it fails to hold my wig in place! Your video explains it all! Thank you!!!
Thank you for the great tutorial on velvet wig grips. I wonder if you have tried a silicone wig grip and how it compares to the velvet ones-in performance, price, and durability. Thank you.
Hi Jan! Yes, I have tried the silicone bands. They are really "grippy" and do not slide at all. I find that they are perfect for my clients who have no bio hair because that "grippy-ness" really pulls on your bio hair and if you have thin fine bio hair, it's especially difficult to keep it from pulling it out. Price can vary to about the same as for the velvet bands, and their durability is better (they don't wear out). I ghhope this helps! Thanks so much or watching and sharing! Hugs! ~ Coco❤😊
Good instructions for wig grip. I have paula young wig grip also. Do you think it makes the wig fit tighter? Have you tried the silicon wig grip, called wig fix? I would like to try one, but I havent yet.
I have tried a different brand of silicone head band, but it pulled my bio hair terribly and was more uncomfortable trying to get it adjusted. I do think that any grip band will make the wig feel like it fits tighter. Especially if the wig grip is thick. So it will just take some time and learning to work with how tight you will need to put the wig grip on and still get the help that you need. Thanks for your comments, Rachel!
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve not worn anything when wearing my wig and I’m always afraid a strong wind would carry it off. Now seeing this band will give it more of a secure grip. I’ve seen silicone grips for sale. Have you tried them? If so, what do you think? I love your videos so much. You’ve saved me money from not buying certain wigs, and by not having to pay all that postage to return. You’re very pretty and look so good in all the wigs you demo.
Thank you for your kind words, Lauren! I haven't tried to wear a silicone grip before because I'm a little leery of adding that much thickness underneath my wig. I'm also afraid that the silicone will make me sweat under my wig. But again, I've never tried them before, so I could be terribly wrong about them. For now, I am very happy with the velveteen wig grip bands and how soft they are around my front hairline. So soft that I've had some regrowth along my forehead and temple area since wearing them! Maybe you can find someone who has a video on silicone grips that you can find out more about them? I hope this helps! Thanks so much for watching and sharing! Hugs, Coco 😊🤗
I know this is an older video but what do you mean about a fold? Your explanation is so clear I have had bad luck with wig grips but I would like to try again. I used the silicone but I couldn't stand the way it felt. What do you recommend velour or velvet. I hope you see this and thank you very much. I'm looking foreward to finding the fold but I'm only looking on the video. When I buy one I may understand about the fold❤ excellent video the best I have seen❤
Some grip band companies take a single layer of velour/velvet, fold it in half and then serge the edges together. That creates a fold on one edge and the serged (sewn) edge on the other. But some companies serge both edges, so it's important to read the instructions on each company's grips. My favorite grips are made by DreamLover and you can find them here: amzn.to/3yGApmL Thanks so much for watching and sharing--and good luck with your grip bands!!! Hugs, Coco

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your video is so very helpful! I'm very new to wigs. I too couldn't figure out why some days my wig felt secure and other days it felt like it was going to fly off my head!
Coco, thank you so much for this what a help! You are absolutely gorgeous! I would love to see you in Picture Perfect my favorite wig! I use Wig Wax to style it and hold in place! It also gives texture and volume! Also if you shake your wigs and use a wide tooth comb to separate and loosen the fibers at the root you'll get more volume. Sometimes our wigs are so flat right out of the box!!
Hi Jan! Who makes Picture Perfect? I've not seen her and would love to review her! Yes, you are right about shaking our wigs and waking up those fibers. In some of my early videos I didn't do that, but you'll see that I do that regularly now! Let me know about PP!!! And Thanks so much for watching and sharing! Hugs! ~ Coco
@@cocoshairsolutions Picture Perfect is made by Tress Allure and I bought 10 on sale for $190. They are no longer on sale but I snatched up as many as my budget would allow. If you want to see my photos of me wearing it just give me an email address to send it to you.
You sound like Meryl Streep now and then. I love that! Thanks for the tips. Any thoughts on those silicone wig grips? I'm trying to figure out if I should just return the damn things. It's like having my head in a round vice. But I'm a newbie, so I figure I'm doing something wrong. Head circumference is 21" (lotta smarts in a tiny package, ha!). Thanks!
LOL! Oh I love your sense of humor, Lauren!!! "...(lotta smarts in a tiny package, ha!)" !!!! Some of those silicone grip bands are very tight. There are a few that have velcro on them and therefore are adjustable. Godiva's Secret Wigs has that kind and I've not had any clients try them yet, but I do have them in stock and they look like they would probably be best used if you are completely "bio hair free." Otherwise the silicone could possibly pull out your bio hair while you're trying to put it on or take it off. Do you have that situation to contend with? If not, I would recommend using a velveteen grip band. Thanks so much for watching and sharing! And thank you, too, for the lovely Meryl Streep compliment! Hugs!!! ~ Coco
Should you match the color of the wig band to the color of your skin, wig color or what. Seems like if you have a wig with monofilament top, the wig grip should be the color of your scalp so it will look like your skin where the part is in the wig. Right?
You are exactly right in your deduction! Thank you so much for explaining it so succinctly when I failed to include this important consideration! And thanks so much for watching and sharing! Hugs, Coco 😊
Hi again, Juanita!! Just remember that with time, your wig grip band will also need to be replaced. Those little fibers on the velour wear down and get weak. So happy this was helpful to you!! Have a great day!! Hugs!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for the video, but not sure what I'm going to do. My problem isn't the wig grip sliding back, but the bottom slides up the back of my head. Even if I have a low pony, it still slides up. I figured it must be that I have a flat head. Any advice is appreciated!!
Hi Deann! If your wig grip band is still sliding up, I can't help but think you've got it on backwards, or maybe the grip is old and needs replacing? When worn and positioned correctly, these grip bands do not move. Do you think these suggestions might be the case? Thanks so much for watching and sharing! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas! Happy New Year!!! Hugs, Coco 😀
Hi. I bought a wig grip band. I'm a 22.3/4 head circumference & the band added just enough that now its 23" & all my wigs are very tight. Any ideas? Thank you, Julie
Hi Julie! Depending on the brand of your wig grip, some will be thicker than others and that will definitely make the difference. Can you release the adjusters at the nape any more? Or cut out that one piece of elastic (I'd release it and wear it loose first to see if doing that will help). Then try a different brand of grip that might not be so thick. DreamLover is the brand I like. PY's wig grips are thin, too, but they don't last as long as DL. But it might just make the difference for you. Try thjose and let me know! You have a great week and thank you so much for watching!!! Hugs, Coco
My head is so big that when I use a wig grip my wigs are wayy too tight. But they do make a wig grip that has the velvet but then a very thin cord on the underside instead of the thick Velcro. So for all your big head ladies like me. Lol. Search for the Top Grip. Great video thank you!
Yes, these Top Grip bands will work under wigs (they're originally designed to be used with toppers). As long as you don't have an issue with your wig riding up in the back, it'll work great! Maybe an extra bobby pin or two at the nape can help with this, too! Thanks so much for the tip, Kimberly! 🤗😀 And thank you for watching and sharing! Have a great weekend!! Hugs, Coco 🤗 😊
You are welcome, Margaret!! Thank you so much for watching and sharing!! Do you get much recognition of your famous name? Hugs and blessings to you!! ❤️❤️❤️
Hi June!!! Not usually, but sometimes yes. It just depends on how close I pull the wig to my ears. I have found that I need to keep my wig grip band about 1/2” away from the back of my ears to let my HAs set in that space. Then make sure my wig sets on the grip band away from the HA. As long as the grip band is put in with the nap going the right way, it works really well-nothing slides out of place! Thanks so much for watching and sharing!! Hugs!! ❤️❤️❤️
Do these grips also work on a partial wig? I have a frontal wig. I can’t use the combs anymore because my hair is so thin and the tape isn’t that good. Doesn’t stick too well.
Hi fairy316! The only thing that I can think of is that the topper wig grip band might work. The regular wig grip band might work depending upon how much the partial wig covers. You might need to try them both…good luck and thank you for watching my video!! ❤️
Hi Debra! I have the same issue and so I found a small headband that is made for toppers. You can see me use it in my video called Toppers Take 2. It actually works pretty good and hopefully it will work for you too. I believe it’s made by Milano and I purchased it online and I believe you can find the link to it in the description box of this video here. It’s called a small top grip band. Let me know if you can’t find it, OK? Good luck and hugs!❤️❤️❤️
I looked like a complete nut with my wig band on wrong and my wig was riding up when someone said what happened to your hair ?? I want to shave my hair down but then the wigs fly off my head . This tutorial hopefully will help , thanks :)
Hi Rose!! Ohmygosh it’s a good thing it didn’t fall all the way off! Be sure to remember when you’re looking at wig grip bands that not all bands are created equal! Find one that won’t roll and you’ll have better luck keeping your wig on. Thanks so much for watching my video and blessings to you!❤️
Glad it was helpful! I think I created a "Take 2" on Wig Grip Bands that has more information, better explained. You might want to go review that! Thanks so much for watching! Hugs! ~ Coco 😊
Hi Qlty Grl!! I’ve been thinking about this ever since you commented…and here are some much better suggestions …you might want to begin by getting your hair wet and slick it down, then put on your wig grip. Make sure your grip is clean and not worn out. I throw mine in the washer with my towels and hang to dry. Grip bands can also get tired and worn out too, the fibers get tired and weak, so at that point they need to be replaced. And finally, some wig bands are just too think and weak to begin with and are not as effective at doing their job as others. If all this fails, then I would suggest trying It Stays. It is a water soluble roll-on body glue that works really well. You would roll it on the areas of your head/hair where your wig cap borders would sit (like the nape of your neck and your front hairline area. Let it dry (it’ll feel very tacky) and then put your wig on. With this product (available on Amazon) you don’t need a grip band at all and there are other videos that actually show you how to use it. I hope this helps!! ❤️❤️❤️
I might put your wig grip on then take a rat tail comb and lift the band wit the tail on the places where it feels like it’s pulling more. That should release the tension in those areas and you’ll still get the benefit of the band. Let me know how it goes for you! Blessings!! ❤️
YES!!! Washing your wig grips in the laundry with towels is a great way to "freshen up" the velour/velvet so that it will grip better again. Eventually, you will need to replace it, but not for a long time!!! Thanks so much for watching and sharing! Hugs and blessings to you!!! ~ Coco

Nope! The velcro holds it around your head and the velvet nap keeps it from sliding off your head, as well as keeping the wig from sliding off, too!!! You just have to make sure that you get the headband on in the correct direction!

@@Jillybeans140 Hi Jillybeans. Thank you so much for this trick. I believe this is exactly the answer I am searching for. 😀

No, not a reflection but they seem to be “shooting” around the room at the beginning of your video. It doesn't appear to be dust either! They are incandescent and move fairly quickly. Good “spirits”! 😆
I have had thinning hair for the last 20 years but since getting the “vaccination” it has thinned even further (especially in the front). I bought my first (and only wig so far) about a month ago, Estetica Iced Mocha Ombre. I have been struggling to find the best way to secure it and to thin/style it so the front stops dropping into my eyes!
I have also noticed a lot of orbs particularly in wig videos, l wonder why? What attracts them?
Nowadays most wig grips have a label on it and it shows you which side to wear it on.

They truly can make a huge difference in your confidence which will impact all other areas of your life! And I'm so glad you found the grip band to help--I wouldn't be able to wear wigs without it!!!
Wonderful and so helpful 💕
Glad it was helpful! Hugs, Coco 💕
Thank you, CoCo! Makes so much sense!

My favorite grips are made by DreamLover and you can find them here: amzn.to/3yGApmL
Thanks so much for watching and sharing--and good luck with your grip bands!!! Hugs, Coco

This is so helpful, I never knew why mine always slipped.
Hi again, Juanita!! Just remember that with time, your wig grip band will also need to be replaced. Those little fibers on the velour wear down and get weak. So happy this was helpful to you!! Have a great day!! Hugs!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for the video, but
not sure what I'm going to do.

Do your wigs interfere with your hearing aids?

Great tips!
So glad you like my video!!! Thank you so much for watching!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Is there anyway to use this with a wig topper? The clips are hurting my very thin hair.

The only issue I’m having now is that the back rides up for both wig grip and wig. My bio hair is too short for a bun. Any tips?
Hmm… we might need to do a zoom/FaceTime consult. Would you be up for that?
I find that it feels like the wig grip is pulling my bio hair at the front and sides but feels fine otherwise. Any suggestions?
I might put your wig grip on then take a rat tail comb and lift the band wit the tail on the places where it feels like it’s pulling more. That should release the tension in those areas and you’ll still get the benefit of the band. Let me know how it goes for you! Blessings!! ❤️
@@cocoshairsolutions I’ll try that! Thanks!
Be video on wig grips on TH-cam!!!
It seems like my wig grip is oily or something. Can I wash it with the laundry?
YES!!! Washing your wig grips in the laundry with towels is a great way to "freshen up" the velour/velvet so that it will grip better again. Eventually, you will need to replace it, but not for a long time!!! Thanks so much for watching and sharing! Hugs and blessings to you!!! ~ Coco
