Couldn’t agree more with the Capt. My wife, middle son, his friend and myself went to New Orleans after Katrina to help out. After four grueling weeks of work, me and the boys went to St Barnard to help. We wound up helping out a shrimper get his boat ready for water. He loaded us with shrimp whenever we wanted. Those folks there are some the best people. ❤❤❤❤
Your BEST VIDEO TO DATE! I met and had known Mr Blackie for over 40 years! The Campos are THE EPITOME OF RESILIENCY and some of the hardest working St. Bernard residents…hands down. You have shown just how we Louisianans are privileged to live and share what this GREAT STATE has to offer…THANK YOU…many, many memories rekindled from my 47 tears as a ‘commercial’ shrimper and fisherman!👍🏻👍🏻
OMG Jared!!!! This video brought tears to my eyes from memories long ago... Campo's and Hopedale Marina back in the 60's is where I spent 2 - 3 Saturdays every month... fishing or hunting!! Gracias Amigo for a VERY well filmed video and great storytelling... that sunrise over the marsh brought back some great memories!!
Just wanna say thanks again for making great videos that I can feel proud to send to my friends from around the country so they can see these aspects of south Louisiana life.
This video brought back memories. I started working at a marina at age 12 . By 17 i had captains licenses and was running shrimp boat at night and would open marina sale bait at noon i would take half day inshore trips fishing. Clean up go home shower sleep a few hrs and be back to work at 11. Did that all the way through high school. I miss the shrimping and guiding from time to time. But that is hard work and it isnt always as easy as that. Your out there rain or shine.
This whole situation here is just beautiful! You guys in the video (y'all just come off as great people(, out on the boat bringing in the shrimp, that delicious looking plate of food, and the legend of the Campo! Thanks for bringing us along.
Enjoyed the video. Great to get a first hand view of “how it’s done”! Zack, Robbie and Mr Frank are all class acts and always make you feel at home. Love fishing out of there.
Another grand slam home run video. Always wondered how live shrimp are caught...really informative!!! My daughter lives in Baton Rouge. Next visit I'm coming to St Bernard Parish to fish. Great job Jared
@OutsidetheLevees Jared, I am a retired Navy Officer who lives in San Diego. I just turned 70 and my passions are hunting and fishing. I have 2 boats one (18ft Procraft bassboat) for fresh water and a 22 ft Defiance Commander center console for Salt. My son and 7yo grandson do a ton of largemouth slaying as well as harvesting manhole cover sized Halibut in San Diego Bay. I subscribe to a number of fishing TH-cam channels (Cole and Jay, Catfish and Carp/Outdoor boys, Steve Douglas, Muddy River Cats, just to name a few, but I gotta say I enjoy Outside the Levee the most! You have a great presentation style...never stumble for words and keep your narrative flowing...like a professional sports announcer. You are never boring and your varied content is superb. You will one day soon be at the very top of all similarly venued channels.
Man Jared love your videos great protrating St. Bernard parish, I saw you were down at Campo's Marina let tell you a little history I'm 70 Campo's is older than I Mrs. Mable and Mr. Blackie were some of the nicest people around, back in the 60s they had no bread company or milk company that would deliver bread and milk I work for a door to door milk man while I was in school his name was Earl Estopinol he would deliver Hayes dairy milk , cream cheese cottage cheese chocolate milk butter milk, whole milk, and Binders french bread, and doughnuts, Sun Beam slice bread and the Times Picayune news paper, to Campo's Marina that was the only way the stores in Shell Beach, Ycloskey, Hopedale , and Delacroix Island would get milk and etc. That's how Mrs. Campo got to make poboys and slice bread sandwiches for their customers she made a delicious roast beef Po Boy, man excuse on my name spelling tks for the video take care.
Awesome video ! The guys on the boat were Great. Amazing how much Shrimp ya'll caught in 3 minutes 😳. Very well filmed and explained. Always look forward to your videos. Thanks for sharing them with us. Keep them coming. Gotta Love Louisiana 😊
What a nice operation,so slick🎉. Thanks Jared I love to see what Fishermen do in other places👍. 🌞 I see how those Bags grow Whoo Hoo! 😋 Yum! Thanks Jared and Fishermen Friends 😊. JO JO IN VT 💞
Need people selling shrimp in lafayette, LA. When I was younger I used to see plenty trucks selling shrimp on side the road. Well not anymore and it's a shame
Jared you should have had Rob tell the people what they do when the picker gets stabbed in the hand by a catfish. Heck i remember being a deckhand for my uncle and picking when i was a young teen. Had a catfish go through the palm of my hand. My uncle pulled it out then flipped the catfish over and rubbed its slime on my palm. Something in the slime made the sting pain go away!
Enjoyed the video and all of the stories but I have to say how he tied the end of the net was fascinating. Someone share a link to how to tie that knot. Well done Mr. Ambassador.
Awesome video! The pasta dish looks amazing! The shrimping operation was so efficient! Two-man operation and the timing was spot on! Got to give you a 10 on this one!
Ah I gotcha. No Gabe released that video last year sometime maybe you just saw it for the first time recently. Thank you for your support. I do my best to keep it interesting g for y’all

Jared speaks the truth. I started going with my grandfather in 1975, age 4. Campo’s is all original, and authentic.

People holler about the whole “bycatch” thing but looks to me like that’s what keeps the dolphins the tree huggers want to come see fed!
Looks fun.. Jared eat one raw for us to see😅

Yea Boy
Yes indeed!

Nobody can count as fast as he can…. In ANY Marina.
