- Awesome day in the Atchafalaya Basin crawfishing with Kip Barras and Shannon Kidder.We caught 10 sacks of select crawfish in less than two hours.We laughed the whole time while crawfishing.Later that evening we boiled tons of crawfish ,fried fish and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. I've lived out west for years. Never heard of crawfish until I moved to Texas. I went to crawfish boil. I don't care for crawfish to much work for a little bit of meat. But I enjoyed the corn sausage and corn. I enjoyed the people watching them enjoy the boil. A big party. I love your videos on how you caught

I have tried steamed crawfish in the Midwest but I’m sure it doesn’t compare to eating it in Louisiana! Definitely on my bucket list
unless you personally sourced the crawfish in the midwest, they were most likely Louisiana crawfish

I see some Spanish moss ( aka Old Man's Beard) in the trees there, in which we don't pull that type of moss in our area, it is very scarce here, whole different type of environment-thus yields different vegetation all together. We pull Reindeer, Mood (my favorite to pull) & Cedar Moss / AKA Sheet Moss...

Ive been watching other creators content of different Natives who make a living off the land/sea in their local land, to maybe get some idea of how to make videos to show the type of work my husband & I do. I have sooo many questions! But one of them was answered when I seen Kips runs a prop and not a jet drive. Im a pacific northwest bass guy and Im planning on building a new boat for a cross country trip mainly to "the south" so Ive been trying to figure out the all around best boat set up for the majority of what's to offer over there. Videos like this truly make me want to just go experience new things and a different way of life that I can appreciate.

Looks like a great time! Pro-Tip: Save your liquid from your boil and freeze it in small buckets and use to cool down your next boil, so the seasoning isn't watered down.

Put it in an ice cream bucket to freeze it and put a rope on the top for a handle to pull it out and drop it in the boil pot.

You talkin about the Honda motor got me thinking, so I looked it up. Those motors are made in Japan. But most Honda cars in the US are made at American factories, like in Ohio and Alabama. So not quite American made, but close enough! haha

I live here in Detroit Michigan and have never tasted Crawfish NEVER but my question is can you eat them if you have high blood pressure it looks like it might be salty I don't even know where I could buy them up here. We have an abundance of freshwater fish of all types but nothing like the seafood from the southern gulf region I love watching your videos Ken keep them coming I see nothing but love happiness and a great sense of family and friendship.

This looks awesome! On this side of the big pond in Sweden, we cook our cray fish with alot of salt, dill-crowns, porter beer and a few cubes of sugar. I would love to try your type some day!
Ingredients
2 kg (4½ lb) live crayfish
1 large bunch of dill including crowns (flower heads)
330 ml (12 fl oz) dark beer, porter or stout
1 tsp anise (aniseed)
3 litres (5 pints) water
100 g (7 tbsp) salt
2 tsp sugar

Awesome video! Watched it with my 6-year-old daughter, and she wanted to know why the crawfish had climbed all the way up out of the water in the traps instead of staying down at the bottom.
He says in the video that they climb to the top to get oxygen…

im from the northeast and we have a great fishery here and we eat dam good but ive been a big fan of some southern yummies too..i got fam from arkansas and we love ordering gator and crawfish from down that way .... i think i got a lil south in my blood cuz them fiest are amazing ... nothing better then livin off the land

I was one of the 1st to bring boiled crawfish to Texas back in the 70s.
I don't even know is they had started crawfish farming, all the crawfish came from the Basin or like waters.
