nice to see a youtuber showing what people are paying for ,skill knowledge and time for a process of steps
because most customers think "you just plug it into a computer, dont you" and you didnt lift a single pad and didnt flood it with half a bottle of sponsored american flux lol

Hi, thanks for watching & for your comment! & you are so right about customers misconceptions about how this type of work is done & the hours of practice it takes to learn the process & research on tools etc!

Fascinating. Why can’t the processors just be swapped over?

Hi, thanks for watching & your comment - this question was also raised by another person, here is my reply:
Hi, and thanks for watching! - You raise a couple of good points, firstly yes all the data is held on the processor & yes it is possible to ‘hot swap’ the MCU without making a backup copy - BUT this is bad practice, firstly making a backup copy of the data as soon as the processor is removed is an ‘insurance policy’ if the processor gets damaged re-installing it for example, the legs can get damaged - not so much on this type of MCU but other more fragile types it can be.. also by cloning it the customer received 2 units back, if for any reason the replacement unit had another fault, let’s say maybe the fuel gauge didn’t work or Speedo was faulty then he could simply put his old unit back in to use (in this case it had flickering backlights) - Golden rule is always make backup copies of data & keep it stored safely, it can come in very useful later on!

great work but why clone it? would there be a issue with just swapping the processor over

I was wondering the same thing. Shouldn't the processor hold ALL the original cluster's info?
