FriendlyCrooc I have severe social anxiety and hypochondria , and general anxiety on top of that (professionally diagnosed) hypochondria sucks because everyday I'm afraid I'm going to die or I have cancer from a small headache or stomach ache but social anxiety is just as bad if not worse to the point where it interferes with my daily life and I can't have a job bc of it . Everyone takes things differently, so don't say people are weak for dealing with an anxiety that is ruining their life because you think your problems are worse

Holy Crapalooney!!!! Was waiting for someone to say this. This has been a recurring thought of mine over the last year after having watched a lot of YOutube and noticing just how many people commented saying they have social anxiety. Basically all this to say... 1983LoneRanger YOU ARE NOT ALONE in this thinking. I think it just goes to show how much we cover up in public and how easy it can be to fake it; or from the other side how easy it is to get caught up in our own stuff and not even notice other people very much. I think it's just important to remember no matter how it appears, we never truly know what is going through someone's head or how someone is feeling so we should always do our best to be kind and sensitive to others!! Xxx I wish you all the very best in your journey to feeling socially liberated

For anyone who's slumped by their social anxiety:
You are NOT DEFINED by your social anxiety. You are capable of whatever you put your mind to. DO NOT skip out on anything just because you're social anxiety is telling you that you're not capable.
I am recovering from severe social anxiety and the biggest help for me was to change my mindset

    • @danielengsvang3126
      @danielengsvang3126 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I don't have that kind of "Social Anxiety" but i have Anxiety Syndrome so i can sure Relate and i can only say THIS:
99% of people with Social Anxiety(Feelings of not being "Capable",good enough and so on are wrong(just as wrong as i am/was when thinking/feeling that way. I would rather say it is the Other way around because people with these problems are often super-clever and just tend to "Overthink" stuff, and having a brain/mind(perception) that is Over-Active is not a bad thing. I personally struggle with to high Emotional Intelligence(EQ) and it makes me Super Kind and genuinely Nice/caring to everyone(Genuinely "Evil"/Ignorant people not included) I am a Male 32 years old and it does NOT fit in with the "Modern Man"-Role, because a guy/man today should be rude, ignorant, arrogant, stupid(lack of Emotional Intelligence),lack of self esteem, self awareness, empathy and Balls and i am the total opposite because i can NOT feel ashamed about quite anything even in public as long as i don't hurt anyone, et,c...
Remember THIS: REAL stupid people NEVER even think about the fact that they may be stupid, Real Worthless People NEVER(VERY VERY Rarely)think about themselves in such a way, so if you THINK/Believe that you are worthless or less capable the chances are 98-99% that you are wrong about that assumption. Cheers from Sweden

*@Donald Trump☑️* Ahh, I see. You think every person with social anxiety is as much of a pussy as you are when it comes to every situation. Yep, there is no possible way she had second guesses about talking about her anxiety on national TV, no way she was encouraged or even convinced by anyone either. Nope, because of your own little social anxiety bubble, there must be other people living in the exact same one, too.
Here’s what’s obvious. You see someone who says they have social anxiety, able to actually do the things you’re too scared to do, and think, and then you start to get in denial. You don’t know what goes on in their head when they’re talking to those people, and how they’re evaluating your thoughts. Yet you’re pretty sure she doesn’t have it.
It’s amazing how you have social anxiety but dont actually grasp its logic, yourself.

You can't self diagnose, so speak to your parent or guardian about it. Don't be afraid, they'll be there to support you and they aren't then speak to your school about it. You can probably get prescribed meds as well, I was just put in 40 mg fluoxetine and it's actually slowly starting to help tbh.

Whenever you go shopping just think that millions of people do the exact same thing and most of the people in that store you won't see again. But if you would be able to just try that out.

The thought of talking or looking at People scared me to the point that I would do anything to avoid it at all cost because I didn't want to be uncomfortable or feel nervous or be seen knowing this who I was. But it's been 5 years since it first started for me and now I don't find these things hard anymore at all.I can be in a group setting and talk to anyone but also at times I have my moments were I do get shy to talk but then I snap out of it. It really was in my head I just faced the fear of talking to people and putting my self out there even if it scary because now I don't fear it anymore hoped that helped.

You;d be surprised. I had very intense PTSD. Something would trigger a memory and I would feel like I was back there, not in reality any more. I couldn't breathe and would break down and lose myself. My therapist worked with me on this self awareness. "I am here, it's *insert date here*, I am in/at *name place*, it's *name time*, my name is *insert*, I am *insert* years old, I am *name activity*, I am okay". It really does help over time and after 1.5/2 years I was able to redirect my attention in under a minute and avoid a catastrophe. It's a lot of work and can be a life long struggle but this verbal, out loud, awareness, helps.

He had her read her declaration of empowerment while he spoke messages of anxitey into her ear, so she was forced to try to ignore his voice and his message. I think he was trying to train her to focus on her empowerment and ignore her own anxious thoughts

BTS' 8th member this is me. Also diagnosed with the worst case of social anxiety at 17, now almost 19. It all started since my kindergarten teacher always said I did this and that wrong, or I should stop asking things bc it was annoying. Such a tiny thing that was the root of my fucked up life I have now. I rely on my parents, never had a bf and only have one friend.
I'm too scared of what people think of me, I always want to be liked. I am a perfectionist because I do not want to be told that I do things wrong, or else I get a mini heart attack. I got depressed because of my social anxiety.
I was at the same time diagnosed with ADD, my therapist told me my ADD could be the reason that my social anxiety developped in the way it did. So that means I can do nothing about it. I just try to push myself, but it makes me even more depressed.

To all those who are stating this girl doesn't have social anxiety need to realize anxiety effects each person differently, also each person's reaction is also going to be different. This isn't a once size fits all kind of disease. My social anxiety is not exactly like hers and my reactions to situations aren't the same.
Also to those who think a person with social anxiety would never go on this show clearly don't understand a person with this disease will reach out. This was her method of seeking help. As you can see she didn't go from 0 to national television, the counselor came to her and worked with her until she was to a point of stretching and going outside her normal comfort zone.
Bravo to her for being brave and telling her story so others can know they can reach out and get help too.

Do you have any family or friends that you are comfortable around? If you started going in public with a friend or family member next to you, it will help. You should get a counselor or therapist, it really helped me. I had to start homeschooling because I couldn't make it through school. Now I barely interact with anyone. Find someone to help you through it, family or counselor or anyone you are comfortable around. Start doing small things that give you a little anxiety, and do that until the anxiety doesn't bother you anymore. The anxiety never goes away, you just grow more comfortable with it. Try eating in a public area, even if you are just by yourself. Sorry for the long comment, good luck working through the anxiety! It's hard but it will get better

Let it be know that you have social anxiety when you meet new people so you wont feel so nervous ab it and try to hide it. Just have fun. Doing stupid shit in public on the regular will help too lol because you already feel like you’re being judged negatively by everyone so if you get used to fucking up and embarrassing yourself in public just by little things like making stupid faces or saying the wrong thing or even doing something wrong its okay everyone does it. Look people in the face and don’t shy away. Be confident and if you keep staring at them eventually they’ll look away. Let them look away not you. Don’t look away. You are who you are. An amazing human being, you got this. You’ll get over it soon. Love ya.

I went to a therapist for depression and told her about my social anxiety. Later I discovered in my charts that she ruled out the social anxiety even though i told her Im fairly comfortable one on one with people and she never tested me or saw me in any other social settings. That hurt. I didn't go back to her..not even for the depression although I still have it. I figured, how can someone help you if they dont believe you.

Social anxiety has been messing up my life too. It's hard for me to do simple things like this without feeling like at any moment someone might talk to me or something bad will happen. I typically put music in at stores and try to use self checkouts. Going to the cashier is like torture. It use to be where I HAD to have someone do it for me. I couldn't buy anything without someone else or even order for myself. It's a little better now thanks to exposure therapy but it can be a real struggle

My social anxiety is so much worse then what she had to deal with. I literally cannot be around strangers/peers in public nor at school. If I'm around people, I feel as if I'm being 1. Watched 24/7 2. 2. Receiving Dirty looks from people 3. Being judged etc. I also suffer from high levels of stuttering when it comes down to talking to other people. I either A. Don't know what to say or B. I pronounce words incorrectly (when I know how to pronounce the words)/ stutter upon simple words. I have gone through this for 3 years and it's so hard to deal with.

And even then my social anxiety is still bad. I really hope I can try to lessen it because it’s making my life a living hell. I have to get someone to go to the store with me and I can’t get a minimum wage job because I know I’m going to have to interact with people and I won’t get to prepare the things I’m going to say to them ahead of time since I might have to make and continue conversations.

    8. Cant speak well.
    9. Cant sit comfortably.
    10. No eye contact.
    11. Cutting conversation of others to act confident which proves me rude and awkard.

I have debilitating social anxiety/panic disorder & depression that I've been dealing with for over 20 years. I think the most basic thing I can do is go to a grocery store or another kind of store as long as I have my safety people with me & I don't stay too long. I do have a hard time paying for things on my own, but I've pretty much trained myself to do it. I would never be able to do it alone or go anywhere alone. I'm not able to drive, I can't work, make phone calls, take phone calls, leave the house for long periods of time without panicking, be around big crowds for long periods of time. I literally have no life, no friends, no significant other because my anxiety is so bad. I would kill to be able to get help from this guy. I would never be able to even write things down in front of him or talk to him without wanting to bust out crying & I definitely would not be able to do it with a camera crew around. And mix all this with clinical depression. That's basically my life in a nutshell.

I also can't work, can't make phone calls, can't go to the shops, can't pay for things because my hand shakes so badly. Cant really leave my house for fear that someone is judging me or something bad will happen. I have 0 friends. Only one online friend i have known for 23 years. I have pretty severe SAD. 😔 lucky for me I have a husband and 2 kids otherwise I don't know how I would make it on my own. So I feel for you that you don't have a partner.

Say you are going on a night out, you are excited, full of expectations, perhaps a little nervous... Having Social Anxiety feels like rather than a night out you are going into a boxing match! It is something you think about all day, or all week, you think about anything and everything that could go wrong, you worry about making an idiot of yourself, or coming across as boring, especially this as the idea of not being invited again is awful. We are for the most part reluctant introverts, on the surface we look like we are happy to spend time alone, but inside we would do anything to be like everyone else and find that social interaction as easy! It’s a doubt edged sword, you spend your life regretting yesterday, whilst being unable to fully live today. For obvious reasons SA, goes hand in hand with depression! If you think you have it, then please go to your doctor or local councillor, and get diagnosed, but please don’t mistake a little bit of shyness with SA, it’s like comparing a paper cut to an inch deep wound! It’s a very real condition and it has ruined my life (so far), I’m 23, but so determined to not allow it to any longer! You combat it with raising your confidence levels and making nights out and socialising as regular as eating or breathing, no matter how hard that is. Thanks

I'm so proud of this girl for leaving her house to go to the store to face her fears. Because as terrifying as social anxiety can be, facing what you scares the most (coupled with some therapy or support) is what you must do to overcome it. It's silly when people think that "oh because they're not afraid to do this or they were able to do that" that suddenly makes them not have anxiety? I commend those who actually find something in themselves to do something that terrifies them. You don't think you can do it, but when you do it (as horrible as it is and as bad as you thought it went) you still did it.
Obviously everyone is different on the spectrum of anxiety and everyone experiences it differently. However, I get that it's frustrating when someone says they have anxiety when you think maybe it's nothing more than nerves for them. Sometimes It feels like nobody understands how you feel and that people don't take what you have seriously. For me that's really upsetting because it's a crap thing to live with because it really stops you living the life you want to.
You're worried that everyone is watching you or that you said something stupid to that person or that you're being judged by everyone. It's hard to make friends, it's a challenge to make phone calls, sometimes even leaving the house is a struggle. Eye contact is the worst and trying to get a job is a nightmare. For me at least this is what I've struggled with, but I know that I have come a great distance in the past few years. I volunteer, I push myself to go to the supermarket, I've made phone calls, I've gone to the doctors and hairdressers alone, I've got on public transport alone etc.
I mean to someone without anxiety that probably doesn't seem like much; but to me it's a lot. I don't have a job but I want to keep pushing myself, because I know I'm capable. I have pitfalls, I have panic attacks, I avoid situations that make me feel severely anxious but I have to push through it in the end. That's all we can do. I just wish I could let everyone in the world know who struggles from it that they're not alone, and that they are capable of everything they think they're not.
Sure, you're not gonna get over anxiety in one night and turn into a social butterfly the next because you watched some video on how to cure it. But in the end you just have to remember that a lot of it is in your head. You can do so much more than you believe.
