When I was at school, referring to that file by name was a punishable offence. We had to call it a Number One file! Very handy, I have just followed along and fixed my own mount.
Normally when you buy those generic phone holders they wont fit to the original one, I have tried it myself, luckily your video popes up and I am going to apply the same method. I got 2 devices all have the same problem, and I am not going to buy a new one as I will have the same problem in the near future. Thank you for the video.
They are found online mostly, but if you are not from the U.S or close to the supplier, you might have to pay costs close to buying a new device or GPS. is best to use this option if you have the hands and skills just like this man or ask the young one or a friend to assist, that could be cheap and reliable.
I got that specific part from The Home Depot, but recently I got another cell phone mount, also with a ball-type fitting, from Fry's Electronics. Sorry I had deleted my earlier reply; I wasn't sure if I could post specific store names back then.

Full marks for taking a file to that phone mount ball. Nice one!
Any idea where to get suction mount that could fit TomTom Go 500?
Have you tried TomTom-dot-com or Amazon-dot-com? Either one or both of them might have the accessory you are looking for.
