Just tried this (boiling water) on suction cups on shower grab bars that wouldn't stick anymore...and so far, it's working!! Thank you very much for sharing this!
Holy shit! I tried the boiling water method and it works! I'm sentimental when it comes to certain things. I've had my car mount since 2014 and didn't want to throw away the memories associated with it. Thank you so much! I appreciate you!
I haven't tried it but will do it soon. This are the type of videos I like to see. True results with most people actually trying it and going back to post a positive result. Not like other videos where people comment but never say if it worked or not.
Thanks a lot for this video. It's amazing all the helpful things I can find on TH-cam. Things that you would think would never be there or who would make a video about this or that and sure enough when I go to look it up..... there it is, someone made a video about just what I was looking for. I've saved so much money by looking up "fixes" on TH-cam. I've fixed my bicycle My refrigerator several times. Hundreds of dollars saved on just that alone. Plumbing and now this, a little suction cup that that doesn't stick anymore and I thought no one would have made a video for that.... and here it is!
Used a heat gun, high setting, only for a few seconds (pulled cup away as soon as it started to smoke lol) and IT WORKED! Thank you. Suction cup for transponder on windshield.
Mr. Singh!! Going to try this after work with a lighter. Judging by the positive comments, it should work. My dashcam has been sitting in my glove compartment for a month now.
Thanks for the tip .. I’m definitely going to try the boiling water method… before your video … I was so frustrated trying to get my camera mounted unto my windshield. Thanks a million 😊
Great Help bro............I was fed up of my mobile holder regularly falling off the dash board even on plain roads and was thinking to buy a costlier one. But, your hot water technique has changed my whole thinking process. I am going to try it sooner than later.
Thank you for this video! The sun has been drying out my dash cam mount and I was ready to just buy another one. I am very happy to reduce plastic waste though and not buy another.
Excellent video!! One suggestion though - Press the suction lever down before dipping into hot water to form the rubber into a better stronger cone. Direct flame damages rubber, but any very hot heat source at a safe distance works as a decent alternative to water.
It seems like that would defeat the purpose of the lever, which is to form a concave surface and the suction that goes with it. If the resting shape of the cup is made more concave wouldn't you reduce the vacuum effect when pressing the lever down?
Wow I think these are good ideas. My radar detector mounts don’t stick anymore. Was thinking I need to buy new ones. But I will try your methods first.
Thanks. Hopefully you’ll save the money by using these methods. If the suction rubbers have any cut marks or hard scratches then only alternate is to buy new one. If it’s just missing the stickiness, then they’ll be repaired by these methods
Just tried this (the boiling water method) and I'm impressed at how it sticks again, therefore saving me from buying another mount again :D I'll see how much it holds in the coming days. But for now my hearttelt thanks 🙏🏻
I'd assumed my problem with the sticker was due to humidity, but I now think it was just usage over the last few years. As well as using just boiled water, I set the 'lock' to unlocked. The 'dimple' in the centre disappeared, I guess that was a 'Factory reset'. The difference was dramatic and looks very promising😀 Thank you Sukhneet. What would we do without TH-cam to help us with these minor, but frustrating problems?
I just returned to confirm that this trick really works, I used boiling water. The suction cup was not holding more than 4 minutes now have nearly 24 hours and it’s holding better than new. Because of that I will be subscribing and watching all of your videos to see what else I am missing. Thank you so much
Thanks for your great video. Also, the phone plastic surface to hold the phone got sticky due to being under the sun everyday. It ven gets sticky to the fingers as well. What should I do to fix it ? Thanks
Mine is working great on bumpy roads too. I think If the suction rubber is free from any scratches or cuts, it will get back to its original suction power after this method.
I have 2 Tom Tom's from different eras. The older Tom Tom's suction mount is wider and that worked perfectly. The Tom tom 6000's mount failed and also developed a tear once submerging in boiling water. Now I have put superglue into the tear and will try again later
My car mirror with suction cup has really sticky glue on it. No one here seems to have that mess on there suction cup. Do you put the suction cup with glue into the boiling water?
Thanks. I watched this in advance for a window bird feeder. I haven't even put it on the window yet, but I was wondering what to do if it didn't stick. Your comment along with this video is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again.
Bird feeder is still hanging. Lasted the whole Winter and staying strong through the Spring. That includes periodic cleaning and handling of the feeder while the cups remain on the window.
Your boiling water idea is fantastic! It brought my 5 year old phone mount back to life! Thanks !!!

Finally. No loud music, and you fixed the problem I had, thank you.
Trying to fix for months! Boiling water worked! First try it was still wet, and didn’t work. Redid and dried well and voila! Thank you!!!

Might have to try my heat gun on my suction cup and see how that works?
I spent over an hour on this but couldn’t get I think I’ll try this method

@@d19jordan57 Agreed, resting shape should be flat; heating the rubber into cone shape is the opposite of what you want.
I was trying to mount a brand new tpms display and it wasn't close to sticking. The lighter method worked great. Thank you so much.

Can I use the hot water and fire technic on sticky silicon pad suction?
Try hot water. Fire may damage the silicone
Yeah great video, it will help a lot of folks with dash cam.

Just take it off like you normally do. Try deattaching the rubber from one end
@@sukhsomal ok thanks...

Which way is better if the rubber get yellow and dry? The hot water or with fire?
I recon water is better, as heat can sometimes damage the rubber if applied for long time
@@sukhsomal Thank you.👌
the boiling water didnt work. Should i try the lighter or will it be the same issue?
I literally just tried the boiling water method and it worked. I left the suction cup to soak for about a minute.
It might be the rubber is having hard scratches
Does it works for many times ? Or once?
It can work many times as long the rubber is not damaged and free from scratches
thx for your help best wishes
