I hate boy names for girls, especially if they end in -son. I could never understand why someone would name their baby girl Jack, Ryan, Jameson, or something. There's a tradition in my family where the first born girl gets the mother's first name as her middle name. But she still gets her own first name.
@@velvetgh0st my boyfriends family have a tendency for this🙈 his grandad is called John who's son is called John and his son is called John. My bf is Jamie whilst his father is also Jamie🤣
Lol the father named after the son thing is so funny because I was doing ancestry research recently and there are like 500 samuels on my dads side. It’s SO confusing. Thankfully my grandparents put an end to that tradition. 😂

My sister named her son after his father, who was named after his father, who was named after his father... You get the idea. Her son is VI. He was called "Little David." His father and father are David and Big David, depending on the situation. Little David is now almost 30 and is 6'4", which is one inch taller than his father and several inches taller than his grandfather. He is still "Little David." Occasionally, they call him "D." My step grandmother has a Stephanie, a Stephen and a Randy. In that order. I asked her once if her first husband was named Stephen. She asked why and I said because Stephen and Stephanie are basically the same name. She paused a moment and then said “you know, I never thought of that. His name was Randall.” 😂😂 She gave the first two the same name and then named the third after his dad and it took over 50 years for anyone to point that out to her. 😂😂😂
My grandmother and her sisters all had E-names. So, Ellen, Edith, Ester, Eve, Eva (yes just one letter change and yes it's confusing), Ester (yes a second one. They are both named after seperate people. The first one is named after a cousin and the second was named after her older sister. Can't make this stuff up) and Elisabeth. The five boys all different random names.
In England a "randy" person is very highly sexed. My ex husband, who is Randal, went mental when American colleagues insisted on calling him "Randy" despite the fact that he introduced himself as Randal and everyone else called him Randal. It was so rude.
How does one go about nicknaming names like that lol... Poor Rosemary has to go through life with such a long name and no nickname (unless they call her Mary, I guess that works)
I went to my friend's baby shower a few years back and they had banners, cakes, thank you cards, place settings, and balloons all printed with the name "Carter" on them and all of them had big line through it and "Beau" scribbled above because she had changed her mind on the name last minute.
My husband and I have a running joke about “uniquely spelled” names we say “like a hipster spells it” for instance one of will say “Karen like a hipster spells it” and the other will try to come up with the most outrageous way to spell it. I.e: Care-ynn
What a great game. I had a talented moment in my life when I guessed the spelling of a persons name from their voice on a voicemail (Definitely Bryan with a Y lol, he just sounded like the Y type).
I've called my unborn children "peanut" because my last name is SNYCKERS, like, you know, the peanut filled chocolate. So it's a joke, rather than a cutesy name. hahaha
I personally think it's super cute when people call their unborn child "peanut", I don't find it cringey at all. I don't have any kids though so I'm not sure how much my opinion counts lol
I love it! If there was a cool pun to make for the baby in my bump, I'd totally use that. For now she's mostly just called munchkin. Lol, I've got a new nephew and heard his parents call him munchkin lately as well.
That's why I'm proud I'm named Saffron, after a cheap spice out of the Bible. 'I'm the fall Color's mixed in with your Autumn colors. Saffron is not a person's name . Thank God. 'I'm proud of my Mother 🤷♀️
I like how you gave Fredrick a more “sophisticated” name and a nickname to use as well! My sister and I both have names we don’t use and nicknames and I love that
My sister’s name is Melyssa, and she grew up living with a step sister named Melissa.. my mom (not biologically related to either Mel(y/i)ssa) wanted to name me Marissa but she thought that might be a bit much 😂😂😂
Totally agree with how your son's full name being Frederick, and it gives him options when he is older! Yes you call him Freddie now, but he may grow out of that and want to be Fred/Rick/Frederick, etc. I know someone who was Katie growing up, but decided once she was in college to go by the full name of Katherine. So I am team full name with a nickname!
I love Quinn and Sage. It’s a bummer Quinn seems to be more and more popular though, at least in the US, because that name has been on my list forever😂
It’s so true that I’m less excited about a birth announcement when I already know the name 😂 I love the anticipation of waiting to find out what they’ve named the baby once it’s born!
Although I've known parents who take it to the opposite extreme and don't want the name "leaked", even after the baby is born.I remember asking a friend what our friends had named their daughter and being told "I'm not allowed to tell you."
Yes totally agree it's not as exciting then, I've had work colleagues find out gender an then a few weeks later post th3 name so when baby is born I'm like oh OK it's baby... Whoever whereas if I don't know name or gender I'm more excited an intrigued to know
My grandma named my mom Emerald and my aunt Pearl. She went for a gem theme and my mom says that in high school the teachers asked her: “Which one of the gems are you?”
I can't stand when people name their kids the same as their last name, but without the ending. Then they are William Williams, Robert Robertson, Phillip Phillips....just pick another name!
Yes!!! That has always bugged me. There are so many other names to choose from! I do have to admit, though, that I came across a Cassandra Cassidy once and actually loved it. It sounds pretty to me, instead of dull and boring like most of the others we’ve all heard, like John Johnson.
My pet peeve is the opposite of the nickname one! I always think that the baby’s official name should be the traditional name so that they’re not stuck with a babyish name for their whole life. In my family we have the “prime minister test” where you try to imagine a prime minister with the name in question and if it sounds silly, it fails. For instance; Thomas passes, Tommy fails!
My name is a nickname turned full name: Katie. I would have loved to been able to mess around with nicknames, particularly when I’ve always been one of many Katie’s in a class (I was known as “Katie B” from the age of 5-16). It gets misspelt and misread an awful lot as well (as Katy/Kate) My sisters are Charlotte and Harriet. They get to pick different names for different social groups/relationships, and are currently both are using their full name despite being predominantly known by their nicknames in their early years - Harriet in particular was pretty much “Hattie” from the day she was born, but made the decision herself to start going by Harriet instead.
Absolutely agree. I was named Debbie. Sounds like I should be 5 for ever. Ive even changed it on my birth certificate. I don't mind if people call me Deb or Debs but Debbie causes me to cringe
The comments about nicknames don’t make any sense to me. In my family it’s a term of endearment like I never call my siblings by their full names but they introduce themselves with their full names. So I’ve always felt left out because I don’t have a nickname just because Hannah doesn’t lend itself to any nicknames.🤷🏼♀️ I’m also the type of person (and my family is the same way) who just for some reason cannot call people by their real name if we are close, so I’ll come up with one (if they don’t mind of course). For instance my cousin is Hope, which doesn’t really have any nicknames but we call her Hopey 🥰
I feel the same :) my siblings and I always have been known by our nicknames - Jewels, Nell, Vinnie, Josh and Jem - full names Julianne, Jenelle, Vincent, Joshua and Jemma -- HAHA there is a Pet Peeve for ya siblings with the same first letter except for the one named after his Dad LOLS
I agree! We have “grandma nicknames” that our Mommom called us as babies. To this day, she strictly calls me Jammers. Even names that don’t lend themselves as nicknames, get nicknames. Jocey, Sagey.
My dad's side of the family are a long line of James' but they all go by things like - Jim, jimmy, big Jim, little Jim, Jimmy's Jim, our Jim....it's nuts 😂 Rhyming sibling names are my pet peeve. The school I used to work in had a Twanna, Wanna and Danna. It made me physically cringe every time I thought about it 😂
There was a girl I went to school with names Davgil David-Gil... the just combined their last names to create her first name and then STILL gave her both last names.
My brother has a friend called Amadatus. His 5 sibblings are called: Amadeus, Adeodatus (f), Amadeo (f), Adeo (f) and Adam. Also their last name is quite a hilarious match with their first names. It always cracks me up
I knew a family who had 8 kids. They had a “P” theme going on with the girls. The first few names started out ok. Paige, Pam, Piper, Pepper. Then they went crazy. They named the last 2 Pandi and Pumpkin. PANDI AND PUMPKIN. It was unreal. EDIT: there was Princess and Prissie.
I have gone by Cassi my entire life, my parents named me Cassandra but from birth have called me Cassi. As an adult, I'm still Cassi. I try every few years to go by Cassandra but it never sticks 🤣 Also, Cassi is not a normal spelling but it wasn't just a random thing. Issac is a family name for the men on my dad's side and my mom switched it around to make Cassi. I have spent 30 years saying "Cassie, without the e"
My dad's parents named him "Danny" instead of Daniel, because his dad insisted he'd never get called Daniel. Funny enough, some people try and we have to be like "he's not Daniel..." Then...they named his sister Beverly and she's NEVER called anything other than Bev! So odd...
My grandma named my mom Jennifer because she felt that Jenny was too cutesy. 😂 My fiance is Daniel, his dad is Dan Jr, and grandpa is Dan Sr. Just 'Dan'. So his grandma calls them Danny, Dan, and Daniel 😂😂🤦♀️
I don’t disagree with many of these but not sure about the comment about “filler” middle names. I think you can give a child a middle name just because you think it’s pretty or because it makes the name feel more complete. There’s a reason names like Rose and Mae are so popular in that spot, and I think the combination of first and middle can make a really unique combo despite the more common middle name. Using Sleeping Beauty as an example, Briar Rose is a lot prettier than just Briar imo! (Also my middle name isn’t actually Rose so I’m not personally offended lol)
This was so fun! I love your levity and attitude toward all names. Ultimately, everybody should get their pick, but we should also be able to have a laugh at ourselves sometimes!
My little girl is Auria. I had to give her a bit of a different name because I work in childcare and I’ve looked after a child with every name going 😂😂 although for ages one of the parents thought she was Gloria 🙈
My sister is due in February and we’ve all nicknamed her bump Kevin because my mum had a dream they named the baby Kevin after my grandma’s favourite professional dancer on strictly 😂 I’m currently making a giraffe teddy for the baby and we’re going to call it Kevin in honour xx
Re. what you said about calling your boy Frederick so that he can go by Freddie as a child and still have the freedom to go by the long version or a different nickname when he's older - my parents did a similar thing with me. I'm Roseanne but have always gone by Rosie (not even my grandparents called me by my full name lol) and as much as I love Roseanne, I can't imagine ever going by it even now as an adult!! x
I so agree with the matchy initials point! My older brother has matching names with me - Lewis George to Lucy Georgia. Everything from post to academic emails gets mixed up!
sibliungs names being variations of the same name or siblings being named after a romantic couple are so weird to me haha I know siblings called Emmanuel and Emmanuela and twins called Romeo and Julia (German version of Juliet)
Oh I love it!!! Archer is lush! And I love James too, I kept it off my name list as my best friend is James and felt like picking him over his boyfriend! X
Replacing letters with a Y drives me nuts, too. I know someone who named their daughter Chandlyr. She did it to make it look more feminine, but it just looks so weird. In my family, my dad and brother have the same first name, but my brother has always gone by his middle name. Before my brother moved away, anytime any of them got mail, it would always have the first initial of their first name, so we had to open it before we knew who it was for.
I have conflicting opinions about Ys and I think I just figured out what it is: I like it when they're decorative and not replacing other letters. Or are "doing work". I like Jayne better than Jane, but that's decorative. My cousin is Dayna and I love it, but it wasn't a very popular name when she was born so "Dana" was sometimes pronounced as "Dan-uh", the y is doing work. I don't like Chandlyr. Is it Chandler or Chand-leer?
I love what you said about why do we need to make the birth more special by being surprised by the gender! My mother in law is gutted that we found out the gender before bub is born, as it "takes away the surprise". But it was still a surprise when we found out!!
Personally I like having a long form name to give them more options because not everyone wants to go by a nickname their entire life through. I suppose there's pros and cons to whichever you do.
My name is Amanda I never liked the nick name Mandy I’ve always went by Amanda, and my kids have longer name Killian, Sabrina,Elliott. They can go by nicknames later if they choose but I like longer names
@@sailorluna4000 I originally didn't plan on using a nickname for my son, it only came about as a way to combat all the weird nicknames my family was trying to give him because they were being judgy about his long name. Funny enough, myself, my siblings, and my parents all go by really short nicknames. I go by Britt, my sister is Jenn, brother Dakota primarily goes by Kode (like the word code) and my parents are Chris and Fee. But those all formed organically.
I liked everly when I was pregnant and also Sloane. I got the ick tho when I imagined telling old women on the bus their names and them mishearing and saying Beverly or Joan 😂😩
omgggg the first opinion is so trueeeeee, I know this guy whose baby boy's name (or one of it) is Caeliev Jiaec???? like why??? Caleb Jake is fine too HAHHHAHA also I feel like it's become a trend in the Philippines (my country) as well to change the spelling to make it unique.... at the end of the day, when the child grows up they'll be having a hard time spelling it xD
I just found your channel and have been binge watching ! My daughter had a little girl named EmmaLee who died at birth. We were devastated. Her last child was named Emryss....boy’s name....I always wondered if it was in honor of her only daughter . She now has three boys. I pray for her stamina....😊
LOL The comment about the siblings with ALL destination names made me think of my honeymoon in San Antonio, TX. There was a family with two boys and a girl at the Alamo when we were there. The mom started calling for them & I didn’t really notice anything when she called Austin and Katy, but when she got to Dallas, I just started laughing with my husband. We said we really hoped their last name was Texas! LOLOLOLOLOL
My middle name is Rose and I know how basic it is but I was named after my great grandmother so 🤷♀️ Also in Italian families, everyone has the same name. There are like 15 Stefans on one side of my family. They just go by Big Steve or Little Steve depending on context 😂
My rules for my kids as a sibset (note I don't have kids yet but hope to have my first in about 4 years or so). 1. No rhyming names (ex; Nora and Cora) 2. No names with rhyming nicknames (ex; Theo from Theodore and Leo from Leopold)- this counts even if those names have other nicknames too 3. No matching nicknames (ex; Jack from John and Jack from Jackson)- again this still counts even if either name has other nicknames 4. Nothing inappropriate spelled with FML, FM, or FL initials 5. No shared first initials
I am ruthless when it comes to other people's baby names, but I keep my thoughts to myself because its not my place to say anything. I also acknowledge many (if not everyone including my husband) will judge my name choices harshly so I consider it a wash! However I completely agree with everything you're saying!
i love Destination names! it honestly isn’t intended that way, but i do love them🥰 examples: Hampton, Houston, London, Britton, Scotlyn, Brighton, Trenton, Caspian... etc. (or maybe i subconsciously just love names ending with the N sound🤣)
with the full name/nickname thing. i’ve always been millie, to the point where on my final exam i spent ages looking for my place card but because it said amelia it just didn’t process that it was my name 😂
Mine was “Don’t really like the name odette for me it sounds like you owe a debt (det) however i know a lot of people like this name I’m just not sure”
I would love it if you did a video of unique girl names that are traditionally boys names/nicknames, like Stevie, Frankie, Freddie, James, Ozzy, Luca, and Rooney. Maybe names you could nick name to those, like Winifred to Freddie :)
I know a Lara deLara xD Turns out it was her mother's dream to have a daughter named Lara, and she wasn't going to give that dream up just because her husband's surname was basically the same name. To each their own 🤷♀️
I know a Jamie James. Apparently his mum just liked the name Jamie! (It always confuses me with males because stereotypically their surname won’t ever change so it should be easy to make sure it goes together 🙈)
This literally drives me crazy! Please name your kid a different name than their last name! 😂🤦♀️ Now, I know a lady who got married and ended up becoming Carrie Carey 😂😂
This true. I am 64 and when I was in grammar school there was family who had 5 children (4girls and the youngest a boy) they were named: Lila, Mila, Nila, Ila and Michael.
My name is Freya Dea and I kinda have a love-hate relationship with my name. I don't mind that Freya is becoming more popular and kinda wish more people would know the name Dea. The name comes from the novel called "The man who laughs" by Victor Hugo. Dea is my moms first name, she was named after the character in the book. But the actual weird part about my name Freya Dea is, when you pronounce them correctly in english, they rhyme.
I actually hold the opposite opinion on the long name vs nickname/shortened name. My legal name is Margaret even though I've been called Meggie since I was little, and I'm named after a relative. I really like having a fancier legal name even though I don't use it, and that I have options if I decided I wanted to go by something different. Also my dad's legal name is Fredie (pronounced Freddy), and goes by Fred and he HATES that thats what his parents parents made his legal name. He actually had his birth certificate changed recently cause he's always felt it was too childish.
This is pretty funny, like a conversation you would speak quietly about with a friend at a coffee shop and the women next to you over hear you, agree and join the conversation. ♥️
One of my really close friends is named Annalise and her younger sister is Annamae. Both absolutely beautiful names but in person the two of them are very similar in looks and have also had babies really close together (though one had a girl, one a boy) - a family member of theirs kept getting confused with who was who and which baby belonged to which mama because of their similar names, their similar looks and their babies being born 5 days apart which I think is totally forgivable 😂
@@summerrose4286 I think that it is a great boy name but I think it goes really well with an old school name especially if your child is named after someone
@@annabelleruth1531 I disagree. Probably because my son is named James and I truly wish people would quit the trend of naming girls James. I find it so odd. There are hundreds of names that go with old fashioned names. It is very odd to take such an ancient classic boys name imo. But it is very "today". No boundaries.
I'm due to have my first baby in February. Me and my partner (my boyfriend's name is Leigh BTW 😂) are the only ones that know what we have decided to name baby and the sex of baby, but we do have back up names just in case baby comes out looking completely different from the name we've already picked! And we still only refer to baby as "baby", even when we're alone, but my Mum decided that baby looked like a chicken nugget in the ultrasound scan picture, so sometimes baby is "Nugget"! 🤣
Oh my goodness, my best fried decided to name our baby in my belly Baby Nugget too 😂 so whenever we talk about him now, we say Baby Nugget because we don‘t want to announce the name until birth. So funny.
The hardest part for me is remembering to refer to baby with gender neutral pronouns when we're not alone! I've almost slipped up and revealed the sex of baby so many times, it's unreal. 🤣
6:20 - 6:30 yes, people absolutely do that lmao. I knew someone called Alan who had a few younger siblings, one of whom was his sister, Alana. Along similar lines, my friend's dad's name is William Williams, and my great-uncle and his father (my great-grandfather) were both Andrew MacAndrew.
I’m pregnant with my first baby! My name and my husband’s name both mean “Noble.” Before I was pregnant we loved the idea of naming a baby boy “Noble” for that reason. My husband and I have a running joke about “uniquely spelled” names we say “like a hipster spells it” for instance one of will say “Karen like a hipster spells it” and the other will try to come up with the most outrageous way to spell it. I.e: Care-ynn
Hahahaha that is hilarious
Like henrik wants everything with a K instead of C! We liked kasper so would have fallen foul again in this list 😂
„Chaer-Ann“
Carrehnne
I like this game, I want to play more 🤣
What a great game.
@@monkiram same! I called my baby frijol which is spanish for bean until we learned the gender

Pretty sure Nigella's dad is called Nigel but I could be wrong...
Edit: confirmed, Nigella Lawson's dad is Nigel Lawson
I hate it to when people use very different names for siblings: I know a Maggie and Royal. It's just so obvious that each parent got to pick one name.
My dad went to school with a family that had 5 girls: Mary Jane, Mary Anne, Mary Beth, Mary Grace and Mary Kate. I have no idea either 😂
That's basically Marie Antoinette's family. All her sisters' names started with "Marie" as well (and there were like 8 of them I think)
That’s really common in Spain too 😂
That's why I'm proud I'm named Saffron, after a cheap spice out of the Bible. 'I'm the fall Color's mixed in with your Autumn colors. Saffron is not a person's name . Thank God.

My cousin did that she named her first child Thursday and her second Max
Lol in some Arab countries the names Thursday and Friday are used😂 but they sound much better in arabic.
I like how you gave Fredrick a more “sophisticated” name and a nickname to use as well! My sister and I both have names we don’t use and nicknames and I love that
Same! Most of my favorite baby names for the future are long names with nicknames. I've grown up that way and so has my fiance 😊 I love it.

My middle name is May, I was born in May and had a great-aunt May! x
I love the name May!
My sister’s name is Melyssa, and she grew up living with a step sister named Melissa.. my mom (not biologically related to either Mel(y/i)ssa) wanted to name me Marissa but she thought that might be a bit much 😂😂😂
Oh for sure too much! And now you have the best name in the world ;-) xxxxxx
My friend named her boy/girl twins Trinidad & Trinity. I've never understood why twins always need to have such similar names!!!
tbh, out of all the matching names possibilities, at least these are kind of original lol
@@livewithintention1625 It’s a little bit original but Trinidad is literally just the Spanish translation of the word Trinity....
@@malaysiafreelon3232 oh wow, I didn't know that haha. Not very original then!
Similarly, my brother 'William' always went by Billy growing up but since he was 16 or so switched to Will. I still call him Billy though!
I would have been named William Fredrick. And called Freddy or Freddie had I been a boy. But I am Melanie Jane, without the "y".
I'd love a short baby girl name list! Like 4 letters or so :) My name is Lynn and I love it, but I want to see what other options there are! :)
I love June! or Blue, Vera, Alice
My first name is Lee. Because of the spelling, most people assume I'm male. 😊
I love Eden for a girl or a boy!?
I love Quinn and Sage. It’s a bummer Quinn seems to be more and more popular though, at least in the US, because that name has been on my list forever😂
My name is Liv. Just Liv lol
It’s so true that I’m less excited about a birth announcement when I already know the name 😂 I love the anticipation of waiting to find out what they’ve named the baby once it’s born!
my god-son was named Vincent as soon as he was conceived.. somehow it made it more real.. like there really was a new identity on the way :)
Whoever whereas if I don't know name or gender I'm more excited an intrigued to know
"Electra Unicorn" just became my favorite baby name.
You know it’s on my list 🤣
I remember seeing that comment and I couldn't stop laughing
in the tragedy Electra kills her own mother 😌
It’s funny when people with similar names get married, too... my childhood neighbors were a couple named Bob & Bobby (Robert & Roberta) 😂
I have friends that are married, Jen and Jed.
Lolll same I knew this couple called Marcel and Marcella 😂
It's funny and almost cute. Unless they proceed to name their kids similar names then I'm out lol
Theres a couple on TH-cam and both the husband and wife are called Tyler😂
My neighbours are ashley and ashley! they’ve just had twin boys who thankfully they did not call ashley
I went to school with identical twins named Gwyneth and Gwynevere...and another pair of identical twins named Marian and Lillian
My grandma named my mom Emerald and my aunt Pearl. She went for a gem theme and my mom says that in high school the teachers asked her: “Which one of the gems are you?”
Ah see I find that adorable!
I find it cute too, but my mom hated the fact that friends and teachers just called her “One the gems” instead by her name.
My daughter is named Opal and my mother was really pushing for another gem name for my second.
SJ, I love hearing you genuinely laughing. It's the nicest sound. I enjoyed this video so much!
I hate that too!
There was a young guy named Phillip Phillips who won American Idol one year. He is from a small town in Georgia, close to my town.
Yes! I once spoke to a Neil McNeil at work. It became an inside joke at work where we just called eachother Neil. 😅
my uncle is rob robertson 😭😭
My pet peeve is the opposite of the nickname one! I always think that the baby’s official name should be the traditional name so that they’re not stuck with a babyish name for their whole life. In my family we have the “prime minister test” where you try to imagine a prime minister with the name in question and if it sounds silly, it fails. For instance; Thomas passes, Tommy fails!
I have a George MacMillan for this very reason 😂
Saaaame. Mine has a “Resume test” - would I want to hire a person named this?? 😂
My name is a nickname turned full name: Katie. I would have loved to been able to mess around with nicknames, particularly when I’ve always been one of many Katie’s in a class (I was known as “Katie B” from the age of 5-16). It gets misspelt and misread an awful lot as well (as Katy/Kate)
My sisters are Charlotte and Harriet.
@@bethanymclemore7636 I use the Prime Minister test. You don't want to limit a childs future by their name
The comments about nicknames don’t make any sense to me. In my family it’s a term of endearment like I never call my siblings by their full names but they introduce themselves with their full names. So I’ve always felt left out because I don’t have a nickname just because Hannah doesn’t lend itself to any nicknames.🤷🏼♀️
I’m also the type of person (and my family is the same way) who just for some reason cannot call people by their real name if we are close, so I’ll come up with one (if they don’t mind of course). For instance my cousin is Hope, which doesn’t really have any nicknames but we call her Hopey 🥰
I love the name hannah! My friend Hannah just gets Han so yes it’s not the best nickname! X
I love a good nickname
Totally totally agree with you Hannah. Especially about the siblings, so true! Also I’m the same way I have to give my close friends nicknames ahah
My dad's side of the family are a long line of James' but they all go by things like - Jim, jimmy, big Jim, little Jim, Jimmy's Jim, our Jim....it's nuts 😂
Rhyming sibling names are my pet peeve. The school I used to work in had a Twanna, Wanna and Danna. It made me physically cringe every time I thought about it 😂
My little boy (14 months) is Jim (straight up Jim not james) we mainly call him jimminy cricket 😂😂
There was a girl I went to school with names Davgil David-Gil... the just combined their last names to create her first name and then STILL gave her both last names.
Parents calling their child after themselves is my biggest pet peeve. I just don’t understand why you would want everyone to have the same name.
My cousin is a 4th generation James and he goes by Jake. I guess all the normal nicknames were already taken.
My brother has a friend called Amadatus. His 5 sibblings are called: Amadeus, Adeodatus (f), Amadeo (f), Adeo (f) and Adam.
Also their last name is quite a hilarious match with their first names. It always cracks me up
Omg!!! That must get so confusing 🤣
Thanks for mentioning my unpopular opinion!! It was fun seeing people agreeing with my pet peeve!! 🤣

I have gone by Cassi my entire life, my parents named me Cassandra but from birth have called me Cassi.
As an adult, I'm still Cassi. I try every few years to go by Cassandra but it never sticks 🤣
Also, Cassi is not a normal spelling but it wasn't just a random thing. Issac is a family name for the men on my dad's side and my mom switched it around to make Cassi. I have spent 30 years saying "Cassie, without the e"

My partner is Danny not Daniel as well!
@Shakespeare Coach Exactly! There’s a reason those names are classics, and most of the time they carry some deeper meaning.
This was so fun! I love your levity and attitude toward all names. Ultimately, everybody should get their pick, but we should also be able to have a laugh at ourselves sometimes!
Exactly this! Xxxx
I love your videos! Even the ones that have a controversial topic are positive and uplifting! 💕

My little girl is Auria. I had to give her a bit of a different name because I work in childcare and I’ve looked after a child with every name going 😂😂 although for ages one of the parents thought she was Gloria 🙈
I love it! It's unique but sounds so similar to many other names so it doesn't sound really weird
My uncle is called shaun, his sister is shauna
No way! Makes it easy I guess!!! Like Olaf in frozen - Sven? easier for me 🤣
I love people who go ahead and name the baby before it’s born. It’s gutsy but easy to get excited and get them personalized gifts!
Re. what you said about calling your boy Frederick so that he can go by Freddie as a child and still have the freedom to go by the long version or a different nickname when he's older - my parents did a similar thing with me.
Everything from post to academic emails gets mixed up!
sibliungs names being variations of the same name or siblings being named after a romantic couple are so weird to me haha
I know siblings called Emmanuel and Emmanuela and twins called Romeo and Julia (German version of Juliet)
My best friend growing up was Cierra and her Sister was Montana lol car themed
I’m due in 3 weeks, and we’re naming our son Archer James. Some of our family hates the name, but we love it
Oh I love it!!! Archer is lush! And I love James too, I kept it off my name list as my best friend is James and felt like picking him over his boyfriend! X
That’s great. Also if he wants to be more casual he can go by AJ. 👍
It’s a great name
I laughed so much at the two Ronnies omg😂 I imagine ‘big Ronnie’ gets some funny looks in the playground!

I go by Britt, my sister is Jenn, brother Dakota primarily goes by Kode (like the word code) and my parents are Chris and Fee. But those all formed organically.

My rules for my kids as a sibset (note I don't have kids yet but hope to have my first in about 4 years or so).
1. No rhyming names (ex; Nora and Cora)
2. No names with rhyming nicknames (ex; Theo from Theodore and Leo from Leopold)- this counts even if those names have other nicknames too
3. No matching nicknames (ex; Jack from John and Jack from Jackson)- again this still counts even if either name has other nicknames
4. Nothing inappropriate spelled with FML, FM, or FL initials
5. No shared first initials

She also had 17 children...2 died during infancy and she raised 12 boys and 3 girls. Can't remember all their names. My grandpa was William Cecil. My aunts were Myrtle ?, Lucindie Lucille, and Donnie Lee.
Back then, the more children you had, the more prosperous you were. My great granpa was name Jesse James and was called JJ.
This was really so much fun. Also you explaining how to label your coats cracked me up!
I’ve been so secretly smug about it for years 🤣🤣🤣
@@SJ_Strum The F to E thing is very clever.
Imagine naming your child after an ex partner 🤣🤣
I liked my husband’s ex-wife’s name but it clearly is off my list now lol
My high school best friend named her son after his father, which became awkward when she and the father divorced. Now she calls her son JJ (James Junior). Still kinda awkward...
One of my friends names their baby a unique name that was her husbands ex-girlfriends brothers name! It was so unique the connection was there! X
I’ve had a baby name list since I was a teenager and have UNFORTUNATELY dated men with my top few names, I’m very open with my SO, he knows all of my exes names so I could never get away with it (plus ew weird)
My older 2 siblings have pretty odd names(kayjll and Krysia) so when my mom was pregnant my dad was like" im naming this one" and named me Julia after his ex girlfriend🤣
Just told hubby my three most recent favorite baby names... his response, ‘how about ‘Wallpaper!?’ Guess he’s not feeling the whole modern thing 😂
I can't STAND it when people are called nicknames of names... My two cousins called their children Lottie and Charleigh (ugh), it's like they both wanted wanted Charlotte but couldn't decide.. So annoying!
My grandfather on one side is called Anton Johannes, and his son is Johannes Anton (Han for short). On the other side my grandfather is also Johannes (Hans for short, but I dont know anyone who called him by his name) and his son is also Johannes (Hans for short), and his daughter also married a Hans (idk but probably also Johannes). My brother's middle name is also Johannes, lets just say it's a family name 😂 .
My father is Frederick, but he goes by Peter, his middle name, because they figured out after he was born that Frederick didnt fit him at all.
