You should make a name list for couples with very different preferred styles. Eg a list of classic names that might pass inspection for someone who prefers unique, “out there” names. I just think it would be interesting to hear a list of names with a specific theme that also work well for very different themes
Some examples I can think of are Eliza, Estella, Celeste, and Jane. Jane was common for a while but it’s not popular anymore; I’ve never met someone named Jane

He didn’t mind the name so didn’t fuss about it. Her name is Abigail. She told him that (within reason) he could choose the name of their next baby. I wasn’t a fan of the boy names he was choosing so thankfully they had another girl. He named her Ellie. I think it’s a sweet name. So he has Abbie and Ellie. I’ve always loved the name Freya.
I recently had a baby girl on 3.2.21 we named her Lilia this is the only name that we both agreed on. My list was so so long he said no to literally everything including the male favourites of Hazel, Audrey & Eleanor. Naming is so hard in my experience men are very picky so this was really interesting to see what men like!

Ever since I was little, I liked the name Melody for a girl's name. I'm a guy and if I ever have a girl it'll be at the top of my list. As well as Zoe and Eliza. Eleanor is my daughters name and when my husband took the survey he said of course he has to choose that 💕 our daughter is 2 and we still love it so much!! Funny story is I wanted her nickname to be Nora but he wanted Ellie and we settled on Ellie and now I can’t imagine her as a Nora she is an Ellie through and through. Thanks for doing this survey SJ! When we were trying to decide my 2 year old daughters name, my husband vetoed EVERYTHING else but Eleanor! It wasn’t my top pick, but that’s what we went with and I LOVE it now. (We pronounce it el-uh-nore instead of el-uh-nerr). I love that it made the top of the list!

We are currently trying for a baby and YEARS ago I mentioned Eleanor for a girl and he seemed to like it then but now whenever I happen to offhandedly suggest a different girl name for the list he says "What happened to Eleanor?" 😂 The only other name he seems interested in is Charlotte so if we have a girl I'm pretty sure it will be one of those two lol.

There probably is a small minority where the baby gets the mother's name because of various reasons-like a fallout with the father.

Also, my favorite girl name gets so much hate online and it makes me sad! Apparently it sounds like a Disney villain name to people (very witchy, old fashioned), but I think it’s gorgeous. Haha, about two years ago we named our daughter Elinora. I guess we were ahead of our time :). We swapped the ea for an i as in the Netherlands we pronounce both the e and a seperately (capital A -lay - ah - nor), making the name unnecessarily difficult.

We have an Atticus!!! Love it! Named him after the book character Atticus Finch! Had the name picked out since I was a teen!

My name is Likony (pronounced Li-koe-nay) I know its weird, but its a combination of my parents names. Please tell me your honest opinion about it. Also, Im not really sure how to write on how to pronounce it 😅 but if it helps, its got a quite strong South African accent when you say it.

When we were trying to decide my 2 year old daughters name, my husband vetoed EVERYTHING else but Eleanor! It wasn’t my top pick, but that’s what we went with and I LOVE it now. (We pronounce it el-uh-nore instead of el-uh-nerr). I love that it made the top of the list!

We are currently trying for a baby and YEARS ago I mentioned Eleanor for a girl and he seemed to like it then but now whenever I happen to offhandedly suggest a different girl name for the list he says "What happened to Eleanor?" 😂 The only other name he seems interested in is Charlotte so if we have a girl I'm pretty sure it will be one of those two lol.
I really think the mom should get to have the MOST say. She has to go through pregnancy, birth, postpartum etc!!!!! It’s one park they should get to have.
I have a guy friend who says that he would let his girl have full leadership on name selection for that same reason. Also, he said that the child is already getting his last name so it’s only fair for his girl to have full say over the baby names 😅
@@daniellewardd But that's not how it must be. Nowadays most countries (that I know of) allow couples to decide what to do with their surnames lol. And where I live in Spain both surnames are passed on to the children. And the woman doesn't get the husband's surname ever.
I don't think so... I at least would appreciate if he had interest in the names. If the guys just say "go on u decide" to me it would just feel like they don't care enough about the kid and the kid's future...
@@irisselene2325 I agree, Alexandra. I told my friend that he should be involved in naming the baby because I'm sure he doesn't want a baby named "Boo" 😆. I understand he had good intentions though. Also, I'm from Jamaica; the culture here is different. Some of us still uphold the tradition with the baby having the guy's last name (including me). There probably is a small minority where the baby gets the mother's name because of various reasons-like a fallout with the father.

Thanks for another lovely video SJ! I’ve been working on my baby name list and I’m so worried that a future partner won’t like my favorites. Also, my favorite girl name gets so much hate online and it makes me sad! Apparently it sounds like a Disney villain name to people (very witchy, old fashioned), but I think it’s gorgeous. I guess this is why people end up choosing more classic names than they’d originally planned 😂

You said that Friday was named after Freya. Which is so funny because I was born on a Friday and my dad wanted me to be named Freya. My mum didn’t like it so they went with Charlotte. I don’t like the name Freya either I don’t know why. So I’m glad I’m not named that!

Haha, about two years ago we named our daughter Elinora. I guess we were ahead of our time :). We swapped the ea for an i as in the Netherlands we pronounce both the e and a seperately (capital A -lay - ah - nor), making the name unnecessarily difficult.
