Thank you for giving peperomia some acknowledge! Love them! Kinda tired of all these plant youtubers racing to get the latest anthuriums and philodendrons! I'm here with my peperomia, dieffenbachia, calathea hehe
I have never had much experience with peperomia until watching Nick’s great videos. Just seeing how excited he gets about them, made me try some out too. I too also enjoy the look in his eyes when he’s talking about his babies.😍
Great video, Nick! I just acquired four trinervis peps and they still are standing straight up in the pot. Now I won’t freak out if they start trailing. I do love the back of the leaves! Stumbled on the four little plants in a local plant store and decided to give them a try. Thrilled that you highlighted it in your video. Thanks! ☺️😊
Peperomia silver bandit is one of my favorites as well! I was at a specialty grower browsing and came across one, and I couldn’t just leave it there. It’s such a gorgeous peperomia!
I told myself that I was not going to start collecting Pepperomia until I move later this year. Well, I brought home a Watermelon and Raindrop yesterday. They are just gorgeous. I want more! Thanks for the content Nick. Keep up the good work!
I don’t own any peperomia yet. That first peperomia looks like one I would want. I like sturdy plants. This one has personality. I like your containers, too. I’m going to start potting my plants. I have not purchased substrates, fertilizer or pottery yet. I can’t wait to see how my plants respond. Thank you for sharing your ideas and your plants.
Just bought my first glass cloche! Before that using clear plastic bags around newbie plants in pots until they matured. That’s a cheap way of doing it, also clear glass and plastic containers from used products (jam, yogurts, etc.). Knot Dude (interesting you tuber, to check out) recommended clear glass cookie jars from Walmart type stores instead of higher priced “cloche”. I just had to treat myself to a cloche this week, cheered me up!
Hi Nick! Those are all really pretty! Like I've said before, I really struggle with Peperomias, but may try them again. I like all of the ones you showed, especially the elongata. So nice seeing you so happy with your plants. Thank you for sharing!
I would love to learn more about your Natal Mahogany.....I've been looking for one since you mentioned it in one of your videos. Im having trouble finding one in Canada!
For the silver one that needs a terrarium, looks like a wide mouthed Mason jar or even an empty pasta sauce jar would fit nicely on that pot! Until the shelter in place is lifted
I love peperomias! I ordered a six pack of "terrarium plants" which were mostly peperomias and they quickly outgrew my terrarium and sparked my interest in houseplants!
Love seeing all of your happy plants! I’m still in the purchased African violet, gifted pothos, saved Christmas cactus and funeral peace lily phase. Focusing on the outdoor garden at the moment but can’t wait to get a ZZ for the bathroom and really want several of the others I’ve seen here. ❤️
You might not even see this BUT…..I have an elongata and it’s been one of my TOP favorite plants in my collection. But now the leaves have gone from the stiff thick leaf to a thin floppy leaf and i’m so so sad about it! ! I can’t tell if it needs water, or if i’ve watered it too much……i’m hoping someone can give me some tips to save this
You are a pro Nick. Just take some cuttings from your trinervis and put them in the sunny location. Then you can have the best of both worlds and don't have to abandon keeping one on the fridge.
Love your videos and enthusiasm! Do you have a video on grow lights 101? Is there a difference between that and regular bulbs? What makes it a grow light specifically?
Enabler! Thanks to some of your previous tour videos where you showed peperomias, I became obsessed with getting more. I got pereskifolia and one called Amigo Marcello. I really want the elongata. Hoping it will come back to Steve's Leaves soon.
Maybe you can make a video on how to take care of cloche or terrarium plants. I had some terrarium size ferns and kept them in a cloche. I kept them in their tiny nursery pot and I would ventilate daily for 15 minutes but most of them rotted 😭. So I am trying a glass globe with a hole on the side and it looks like the same thing will happen 😩! Only the blue star fern is surviving but not thriving.
That one viney one you said doesn't look like anything else. I immediately thought it was a p. Prostrata and was confused when it wasn't. So similar! As for new peps, do you have a variegated watermelon or p. griseoargentea pink lady?
I love your channel! Nick I am confused lol I am glad you brought that up, I ordered an angulata. Is that the same one you had in your hand? If not what is the difference?
Hi Nick, I love peperomia, and have a few, but would love to find the Dahlstedii and the Elongata. I don't have a terrarium so I would rather not get the ones that require those conditions, although I would love to put together a terrarium someday. I do have the Peperomia watermelon on my wish list as well as the Peperomia Russo, I tried ordering it from Gabriella plants but it was sold out, so hopefully they will get some more in stock soon. Thanks for sharing this video it was fun and full of great info. Stay safe and I will see you soon, XOXO, bye for now
What about Peperomia Rana Verde? I picked one of these up a while ago and didn't even know what kind of Pep it was until I randomly found a picture of one online that looked like mine. I've never seen it mentioned in your videos or any other plant people's videos. I'm currently struggling to keep mine alive...the leaves are drooping and yellowing and I thought it wasn't getting enough light so I moved it right in my NE facing window but it didn't seem to be doing much better. So now I've moved it back to the far wall where there is also a grow light a couple feet above it and trying to water it more consistently.
I have a thing for any peperomia! I recently ordered a peperomia Isabella from Josh's frogs and it's a bright lime color, which I'm also a big fan of. 😍
Since you are a big peperomia fan i’m wondering What do you think about peperomia vestida/liadensis? :) do you have that in the us? I have one That’s about 50cm tall and I love it with it’s velvet leaves!
Great now I have more plants I need. Thanks soooo much. Ok no actually I am just learning how to grow house plants. I want more interesting varieties. I am loving my peperomia hope plant. I has the cutest almost perfect silver dollar succulent leaves. Also its in a teacup and I can fill the saucer with water for humidity. It seems to be doing well. It has given me several new leaves since I got it.
Hi ! Very intersting video ! I only own three peperomias, only three survived me, should I say. I've got a P. peperspot, a P. quadrangularis (I Love it), and a P. maculosa, which I almost killed (too much water), I lost 2/3 of the plant but it's ok now. It's my favorite, i love its big glossy succulent leaves. I kind of fell in love with P. elongata now... Thanks you ! See you soon !
I’m in the same boat right now with my elongata 😢😢 I think I over watered it. It’s leaves are droopy and thin. How did you save your maculosa????? Uuugh I want to cry! I’ve had the plant maybe two years with zero issues until now
@@marymiller5824 Hi Mary, I took it out of its pot, removed the parts that seemed rotten to me and then replanted it in brand new soil. It died since then... I only have the P. Triangularis left, still living its best life, which is very rewarding to me 😊
@@cafouyette2376 I’m so upset about the elongata! I have a nice collection too, Thai constellations, Monstera Aurea and the Elongata has been my favorite! The beautiful big, thick shiny leaves! I’ve never reported it because I heard they like to be a little rootbound but i’m wondering if I should! I put it near a grow light and starting to see a little bit of progress so I might try a repot. Uuugh! Thank you for the reply! This is an old video I think but i’m trying to find some help saving this plant!
I'm a peperomia fan as well and I think I just died and went to heaven with that elongata! Straight on my wish list it goes! My most unusual is P. verticillata Red Log. Such a different growth habit and the red under leaf is so bright and such a contrast against the dark green top!
Sorry not at all on topic for your video today but really need to know. Been googling about it and getting mixed information. Nick do you know if a Tetra Sperma will climb an iron trellis??? Thanks.
I got a cutting of a Peperomia Dahlstedii back in December and it didn't seem to grow.. it lives in a Glascontainer for a few weeks now and it's finally showing first new leaves 🥰 .. not sure when to take it out of the glas though 🤔 (I still have the sticker of the soup on one side of the glas and it's really not that pretty lol) The Peperomia Trinervis is so cute ☺️ and the elongata is so pretty as well! Definitely going all on my wish list! haha
wow, all these pepperomia species! is there an encyclopedia for them somewhere? ya know 'encyclopedia pepperomia' has a nice ring to it! Also, yesterday I saw the biggest damn pepperomia ever at home depot. 19$ for it. I was already going to carry 12 6" terracotta pots home with me on the bus plus a bag of groceries, so I opted for a smaller Friendship Plant instead. God and they had an agleonema with just a faint hint of pink! But I just got my first agleonema that one can wait.
Great Vid once again Nick.....I am a plant newbie....really catching the bug! But I have a Peperomia "Rosso" and I LOVE it! It has the gorgeous burgundy on the undersides of the leaves, and is so happy and easy to grow.
You can get them on Pistils Nursery. It looks like they only have the dark variety right now. I did find some at one of my local garden centers as well. I got a beautiful almost creme colored one and one that is terra cotta colored like his. Those ones don't have a drain hole but they drill pretty easily.
The manufacturer is Spang in Germany. I've only found a handful of retailers who have some of their clay but they make such nice pots. Pistils nursery has the marbled basalt round pots, Planterina has the regular basalt flower pots. Hirts Garden on etsy at one point had a couple, I don't think they had the marbled terracotta though. Anyways, hope this info helps your search, I've been trying to find their stuff for a while.
Pilea pepermoides is a pilea, not a peperomia. Idk what the care differences are since I don't have one but yeah, pilea is a different species to peperomia. ❤
