Gardenman The biggest plane I tried yet was the a320 and that was really easy to fly but don’t ask how the landing went...let’s just say I underestimated the speed and weight of the plane.
It is too complex to be put into manual. PMDG's Boeing for FSX alone has 300++ pages per aircraft. It is better if you Google the real FCOM (aircraft manual) or watch how real pilots do it on TH-cam. You can also copy what others did in other simiulators like P3D or X-Plane.
I want to go to flight school one day, but I want to be well versed on absolutely everything I can possibly learn ahead of time. Idk why, but properly programming the flight plan, and communicating with ATC are the 2 most intimidating things for me at this moment. My respect for all pilots increased drastically upon realizing how many different systems they need to understand. Let alone communicating with ATC while doing everything else. I have my work cut out for me, and I thank you for allowing all of us the opportunity to learn all of this whether or not we go to flight school. When I feel ready, I hope I have at least 1 of your subscribers with me in flight school! Hope to see yall at 40K ft in real life one day! Until then, I'll continue to study your content.
One other great tutorial would be on different external software/links etc to use, like charts, simbref etc and how to use them with FS2020 Thanks again for superb tutorials
The way you explain things is so precise and easy to understand. It makes me feel like it's ridiculous that I didn't really know how this stuff worked back in FSX.
I have not even watched this yet, but judging by his previous videos I'm 100% sure this'll be the tutorial which will make me recall everything I'd forgotten about FMGCs since I last used them in FSX more than 10 years ago. And now to watch the actual video...
These videos are brilliant, I’m really enjoying them - thanks for taking the time to make them. It would be great at some point to pull all of this stuff together in to one flight where you cover everything from cold & dark to touchdown. In the meantime I’m loving these excellent videos!
If you're in the aircraft and go to the weight page, you can re-size it (to the right) & it will show you the CoG etc. rather than having to set it up in the main page.
im finnish and i have pretty good english, but i dont understand everything but i like your videos and i like aviaton. The tutorials are blessed for me and my braincells. the tutorials are so helpfulls. Thank you :)
Being a flight simmer for years, and mostly flying Boeing aircraft, I find the Airbus MCDU very difficult to navigate and manage. So, just wanted to say thank-you for taking your REAL Airbus pilot knowledge time, to teach those of us that love aviation, who aren't pilots, and break all the steps down, to make it even more enjoyable than ever!!! Sorry for such a long post. Definitely my go to Airbus channel, and subscribed!!
The MCDUuuuu is so similar yet so different to the Boeing version... Definitely going to be a learning curve! Thanks for the video, very informative as ever!
Inputting the airways is a bit more hassle here. The take-off perf parameters too, needs you to wait after starting the engine to see the take-off trim setting.
im currently studying at auburn for aviation and im in my fourth year and we had our final 2 days ago and without these videos and msfs i wouldve been so lost in airbus fmc but i cranked it out like a pro and now im soon to be a professional pilot

Thank you so much for adding this informative video! I'm a recent fan and I'm glad to see an experienced person contributing to the sim community. I've encountered a problem that I think you may be able to help me (and others) help me out with in regards to the Airbus FMS. It seems to be a common occurrence for me that the AI ATC changes the expected Instrument Approach Procedure when I'm within ~50NM of the destination. It seems to be that every time I try to input the change into the FMS, the flight computer attempts to back-track me to ~20-50NM of my current position, even when this re-route isn't prescribed in any approach procedure. It seems to be that I'm able to erase the previous approach procedure and implement the new one, only for the flight computer to do a 180 turn to backtrack ~20NM before proceeding to the designated Initial Approach Fix. No matter how I try, I can't seem to delete the fix that it turns around to, nor can I seem to force direct to a new fix along the new route. I understand that there are probably bugs with the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 autopilot/FMS (I've encountered several bugs not including the ones you've described in your recent videos), but would it be too much trouble to try to describe how you encounter this scenario in the real world?
@@ivobrick7401 Thanks for the reply! Yes, I assume that the problem has more to do with the in-game FMS being incomplete or otherwise inoperative but I still hope to see how this situation is (supposed to be) handled. I am an air traffic controller in real life so I'm interested in getting to know how real life pilots handle the situations we subject them to in our airspace. I'm under the impression that even when we clear airliners for visual approaches they will still queue up an instrument approach into the FMS, regardless of whether they opt to use it on final.
Cocoa Bean He shows how to in the video. What are you having trouble with? The issue is also shown in the video. It’s when the airways page fills up, and so you can’t enter in any more airways, only waypoints.
@@cocoabean5917 The SID should be the first waypoint you see on the simbrief flight plan. You'll know it's a SID because it'll look like a waypoint (it'll be a word) but will also have numbers at the end. In his case, it's RENDI1S. Airways normally are just one letter follow by numbers, such as z739. Charlie Oscar Lima is just the "COL" waypoint. He's just spelling it out using the phonetic alphabet (Alfa, Bravo, Charlie, Delta...)
Such a great tutorial. Could you do an updated video that shows the latest version of the FBW A320? Maybe include details on how to read charts and where to get all the info that is required to type into the MCDU? Thanks for all the help you give to all of us. Cheers!
Your videos on MSFS 2020 A320 is the best and I am trying to recommend to everyone on FS forum and discord. Really informative and easy to follow! Keep up the great work. Hope some subs roll in!!
Thank you so much for the video, it was very helpful. Quick tip, not sure if someone else already said it but on the fuel screen, if you enlarge it from the side, the CG and airplane diagram appears.
Great video! I’m a pilot and am working on a tutorial for flying a Cessna 172 with a flight plan programmed into the Garmin G1000. I have come to appreciate how much work goes into creating one of these videos! I, too, have noticed quirks with how the simulated G1000s differ from how the real thing operates. One thing to watch out for-make sure the titles are within the safe title area. I’m watching this on a TV and the titles get cut off at the edges.
Also in SimBrief you have an option to download the flight plan. In bottom of screen there’s a lot of option to download and the correct one is a called ‘FS2020’ and main page you have an option to load/save a plan. What it does it sets departure/arrival, flight level and waypoints. SIDs and STARs still have to set manually.
One of the best FlightSim channels - easily. Keep it coming, particularly enjoying FS2020 stuff - good to see the holes in IFR stuff, hopefully these issues are getting to Asobo
Mike Mortimer those holes will be filled in by $150 addons. Even though this sim was touted as being complete and you would not need much else it’s gonna need a lot of addons to make it really good and that is the idea of course , the MS marketplace, money in the bank for Microsoft.
If anyone is still watching this video: You can get the view from 18:45 still when you are in the plane whan you press the fuel button (like he did) and than make the window bigger on the right border of the window.
Thank you for the tutorial! I just setup a route generated in SimBrief. I can see they fixed the Airways bug, since I actually see the airway under the waypoint, and old airways don't appear!

TY for the great tutorial - could you please also do one for the situation of a goaround ? - i have 0 clue what to do with the mctu when going around to bring it back on course so i can do an ILS approach with the preconfigured transition etc again
Really enjoying your videos! Quick tip when you’re changing camera views between instruments in the cockpit you can press Ctrl-1, Ctrl-2, etc. Keep up the great work 😃
Glad you are enjoying them! I'll remember that for the future!
Liked and subscribed, awesome content mate! Cool your referring to real world flying as well :)
Thanks Don!
Thank you for this, very informative. Some abbreviations you mentioned, I didn't know what they were, but I still learned something new.
‘One person will be stuck doing the walk around in the rain’ Strange how its never the LHS turn to do the walk around when it’s raining!!!
Great video/fantastic content on this channel.
Hope you create revised videos of your tutorials once Microsoft/Asobo iron out some of the issues on the airliners.
