Ah, German DDs. They do a bit of everything, which means they don't do any of it particularly well. Unsurprisingly this is now my best game in any of them so far.

In legends if you want a DD that has good torpido reload and good guns German DD are the way to go.

Pointy haired jedi, now there's a name I haven't seen in awhile.
Just got a Kraken last night with the Gaede, without taking any damage whatsoever. I don't believe I even got spotted once. Took down 3 battleships, a cruiser, and a destroyer who were focused on my spotted teammates, rather than figuring out where the destroyer was that was clearly stalking and picking them off one by one lol. Gotta love getting players like that haha.

When you're outnumbered five to eight... it's probably because you're in a potato flotilla and that's why they don't secure the easy kills. LOL Don't forget! Every great game requires three things:
1. luck
2. potatoes on the opposing team
3. just enough potatoes on your own team to make sure you get lots of damage and kills while still pulling out the win

Very well played, Jedi. Thanks for featuring Jedi on this one, Jingles. I always like his videos. Amazing that there was a PHJ stream on tonight. He's a very good CC, and an excellent DD player, which you can forget at times as he's quite funny too. He can even make the Krispy Kreme look good, which is no mean feat. Check out his video, Nose of Glass, Jaw of Iron if you need proof. And some of us remember the Swedish Chef: "and now, the Chocolate Moose."

Around 3:00, when the Buffalo was late with the radar, he might have been trying to wait until he had the far side of the cap within radar range. Feels bad to radar half of a cap and discover only that the destroyer isn’t in that half. Sometimes it’s worth popping the radar on a less-than-sure thing if your team has good shots at a likely hiding place on the side that you can cover, but it’s a judgment call that takes a meaningful amount of game knowledge to get right consistently.
Genuinely nice to see Jedi have a good game. Lovely guy.

I agree, Z46 is a courageous choice. Not a bad ship, but a ship that excells at nothing. You dont see them often these days.
If I recall, the HE damage per minute of the Z-52 is about the same as Shimakaze

We call the Euro torps 'Tickle Torpedoes' because they don't do very much other than tickle the enemy battleships. I once hit a DD with a full volley and they survived with a thousand or so hp. But they do reload nearly as fast as the Yamato main guns and can travel across the entire Atlantic Ocean before running out of juice.

Y'know Jingles, you could argue the enemy team snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. They had a major advantage and still lost. It all just depends on perspective.

There used to be a guy who called himself "AgingJedi", but he changed his name and drifted away from WG titles. I consider the latter a very good life choice.

He had a great point, Jedi is a trademarked and copyrighted term, so it can easily block merch deals and it isn't descriptive of the person calling themselves Jedi.
That sums it up, a good ship is good, but a good captain makes it better!

How does one pronounce "å" anyway? I'm german so I obviously know how to pronounce "ä", "ö" and "ü", but what does "å" sound like? :D
@@celestinonatale Wie in "Boah", also etwa zwischen "o" und "a". And nobody can get the "ü", unless they are Turkish. English speakers cannot even tell the difference between it and "u".

WG: introduces a new raft of new Russian stealth ships
Players: we are shocked - SHOCKED, we tell you - to discover that WG is completely dedicated to two guiding principles. First, finding new and completely overpowered Russian ships to keep their Russian base happy, and second, finding new and increasingly desperate ways to milk the player base for all the money they can before completely destroying the game.
The Skåne on Jedis team was played by a Dane.... ohhh the ironi :P

I have always been amazed by the English men's inability to say "Å" without sounding like they are getting a stick jammed down their throat.
You "say" it correctly all the time in for example "call" there is a "Å" inn there.
call, ball, all, fall... yep. Also in "on", "off", "brawl" "shot".... All has Å's in them. but no. SkAne. every time.
Ö and Ä are quite similarly hard, although understandably so. Jingles just should realise Ö is like the Le Fööföfööföö artillery from WoT he so much likes (and Ä is just like a from bat). And while I'm at it, the G and A from Götland are like Yamato's Y an A if I remember correctly.

Jingles I am aware of one recent change to German DDs. They now get the 1/4 HE pen of literally every other German ship. The high tier German DDs therefore have base 32mm HE pen.
If it help Jingles a coworker of mine pointed out The Matrix and Episode 1 the Phantom Menace are both over 20 years old now. And yet still look better than most of what is put out these days.

It seems to be that Germany is getting a new tier IX battleship, the Pommern. I think the enemy team does have one Pommern as a test ship.
Is that the previously mentioned “Ludendorff” with a name change?
@@wtpiv6041 I'm wondering the same thing. I don't know if there's any stigma attached to the name Ludendorff in Germany or not. I know he was a general during WWI and I think he was an early supporter of Hitler in the early 20's, though I think he was using Hitler to advance his own position at the time.
If WG isn't going to add a German battlecruiser line, I'd rather they name this ship after one of the historical German ships like Seydlitz or Moltke.

2:02 WeLL aCtUaLLy JiNgLeS, the Swedish DDs have 10 seconds slower reload than their german counterparts. It's the USS Benham that gets an 85 second reload on her 16 hard hitting torpedoes, because... balance.
Its a good thing there where no CVs in that battle. Jedi gets 2 drooling idiots and as soon as he pops up both CVs drop fighters on him with the rocket planes...
Followed seconds later by everything up to and including the galley sink landing near him.
He managed to only get hit by two torpedoes...

It's always fun to be multi-targeted. I see it as proof that I'm the biggest threat around, not at all that I'm the only thing to unload in the general direction of.
Last night I had a Chapa blown out from under me when I ventured too close to an enemy DD, got spotted and within 2 seconds, 8 people targeted me.
I just felt every atom in my boat go "Oh dear" and clench up. Good times!

I think we're likely to get the title reference if it's Star Wars, Jingles. If you had quoted Superman III or Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence which came out the same year then we might struggle, but Star Wars is special.
Only Jingles could add a Muppet into WoWs and get a laugh!
German DDs got the 1/4 HE pen buff applied to them, but their gunpower is so lackluster that they don't really benefit from the buff. German DDs could really use some help on their AP ammo like what the RN DDs got to help them be able to consistently use it. The smoke cooldown is also a tad too long, especially with CVs existing nowadays.
Actually Jingles, The Z52 has the same HE DPM as SHIMA. It pens more nowadays, but its just as bad. And then people wonder why they cant contest the caps, unless someone actually wanders into their hydro while they are in smoke :D .
That did remind me of around 90 % of my battles. Not that i'm that good, but the fact that everybody is targeting PointyHairedJedi. Most of the time i get spotted (no matter if i'm playing in a Destroyer, a Cruiser or a Battleship), everyone in the enemy team, that is close enough, is shooting at me, even if i'm in the middle of a squadron of friendly ships. Everyone stops shooting at the targets they had shot before and targets me. And if i spot an enemy ship, no one except me is shooting it, which make it difficult to win such engagements, even if i have the better ship. My opponent is getting shot by me, while i am getting shot by around 4 to 5 ships. And its not because i go alone into the fight. There are mostly quite many friendly ships behind me, they are just not interested in helping me.

not the nit picky type but just in case no one pointed it out yet "the sinops fighter planes" um jingles, count the bars, those are fighters. In my defense most people use them for the same purpose soooo.....ya ill go find a diamond pick now, i hear salt is pretty valuable these days.
The German DDs recently got an HE pen buff, 32mm on the 128mm guns and 38mm on the 150s, so the HE is more useful now (imo they should have gotten this buff a long while ago, especially since the IJN 100mm guns got 1/4 HE pen)

I don't even bother taking priority target. If I'm spotted, the entire enemy team is shooting at me. On one memorable occasion someone was shooting at my angled BB, and his shells were literally flying over 3 friendly cruisers (two of which were showing him perfect broadsides), another BB, and a DD, all of which were shooting so they were all visible. Every game is the same.
I have no idea why every team I go up against has such a hardon for me.

Actualy Jingles German DDs have been buffed 2 patches ago, their HE pen was improved.... not that it helps them that much.
Actualy Jingles nr 2: only the Chapy and the Heavy rusian cruisers can stealth radar, the Dimitri can't.

I’m sure it’s been mentioned already but technically the Russian light cruisers from 8 to 10 can’t stealth radar. They can almost do it but there are a few hundred meters of a buffer. Not much to work with I know. Now the Russian heavies on the other hand…

Jingles, it's not just the German DDs, the Japanese, US, and Pan Asian DDs are in a terrible spot thanks to the massive power creep. This includes CAs too. Especially with the new Russian CAs being printed from their paper napkins.
Donskoi has 12.6km detection iirc. The Chappy was the only one that could stealth radar before they added the new line.
Actually Jingles, I think you'll find that the tier 9 Swedish destroyer is pronounced "ersta-yert-lundt". Now I had better get back to the mines.
The end of this video looked like a classic case of "trying to win harder". You've got an insurmountable points lead, an overwhelming majority, low health, and 1 minute left on the clock. Why even engage him? Just retire and take the points win.
I guess the only question on enemy team's mind was "how the hell did we fuck this up?" indeed

I don't know Jingles, I still enjoy playing German DDs more than others. Sure they suffer from power creep, but the 6km hydro and smoke combo is still enough to deal with most opposing destroyers.
Also, listening to yorur vids while playing WoWs with Jingles captain can sometimes be very, very confusing :)
Last I check, the RU light cruiser line can not stealth radar. This might have changed with the last patch, because the NEW russian heavy cruiser line can.
