    We've always heard that you can live in Thailand for $20k per year, but we didn't realize you could live so comfortably. You picked an amazing place to stay at, so bright, quiet, open, and airy. The price and ease of the medical care sounds amazing as well. I definitely see a few months in Thailand in our future!

    What I am loving about this is it is opening my mind up to how retirement could look. If we moved to being more international - I am way more closer to retirement than I thought.

      Good for you! Yes, the expenses are so much less expensive than the US that you really can retire comfortably a lot earlier here.

    Such an awesome breakdown! I really liked your way of showing the costs in Thai Baht and then in USD :) We have also found Thailand to be very reasonable and we also spend the most money on food :) The villa in Krabi has such amazing and peaceful scenery!

    Love your accommodation. I can’t believe how affordable the cost of living is, and with a high quality of life, sounds amazing 🤩

      Yes, this year has flown by and we feel lucky to have spent it in Thailand. The relatively low cost of living means we can still afford to continue the journey once it’s safe to do so.

    Thanks for breaking down all the different visa options. I have never lived in a different country for a long period of time so it's helpful to see how that would be possible. I was just talking to my parents about retiring in another country! The villa you rented looks so amazing...I love the big windows and how secluded it feels. The hammock in the front is a nice touch. That's super convenient how most places come furnished. That definitely makes it easier to move from one place to the next.

    This is incredible and soooo helpful!! This house is so lovely and I adore the peaceful setting. The costs are so enviable (less than 1/4 what my partner and I pay in the DC area, for zero services and takeout once a week! XD) and when you described walking in without an appointment and being seen by a doctor right away, I said "What?? What??!?" out loud!! ;D That is so awesome. The visa info was so helpful too! I work remotely for international orgs and hope that Thailand will come out with a remote worker visa before long. Anyway, I had started out only vaguely interested in living in Thailand (more focused on Indonesia) but your channel is making me way more interested in spending more time there in the future! :) Thank you so much for all this great info.

    Very Helpful video guys, we've always wandered what the cost of living in Thailand was. I feel like I assumed it would be about 15k a year so its good to know its right around that. How much would you say you're saving by doing long term rental as opposed to like weekly airbnb rates? Glad you guys are learning and enjoying Thailand, seems like a great fit for you guys right now based on what you said in this video.

    • @LucasWorldTravel
      @LucasWorldTravel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it has been a great fit! We started with Airbnb and wound up paying too much. Word of mouth was how we found rentals at local prices. Facebook marketplace also is helpful for finding rentals as well!

    Great video, I look forward to watching more from you two! I’m planning on starting a 10 year travel life in Thailand in November myself (from the US too). How does your Thai schooling work? Does it require you to remain in one area for the duration or are the classes digital/online?

    • @LucasWorldTravel
      @LucasWorldTravel  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Our school had both options online and in person. To be honest though the in person lessons are much better, so I would recommend starting in person and then continuing online once you grasp the basics.

      We found this place by word of mouth. Facebook Marketplace is also a good resource to finding place. Our Thai is really not that good, so we handled everything in English. Of course, not all locals speak English, but because tourism is so high most places that you would want to live will have someone speaking English there. Unfortunately very little is advertised as organic in Thailand. There are just a few organic fruits and veggies available. Nonetheless, I think Thailand is a very nice comfortable place to travel and even retire. It's definitely worth a try.
