Thank you for sharing this. I had been going back and forth and just could not justify spending that kind of money and hope that the company/person I buy from would do a great job for a $67 wood shelf- for one shelf! I need like a gazillion of them. Now I know what I am doing over the next few weekends. I can do this!! Thank you so much!!
Our extended pantry has these and they are a pain to stack things....always tipping over, falling down, what a mess! Just the other day I mentioned to hubs that there's got to be something easy/cheap to remedy this. He suggested plain ole cardboard. Fine I'm not after looks, no one needs to be in my pantry. But I do like things to be aesthetically pleasing. Foam core to the rescue. Thanks so much for this. Yours looks awesome!!
I have those wire shelves in all my closets. I’ve been looking for a solution to cover them. Because I use the front piece for my hangers, I’m just going to cover foam board to fit the top of the shelves.
New subscriber here enjoyed your easy and affordable way to create a great look for the wire shelves in our home. TFS! Will definitely be using this hack 👍🏽
Thanks so much for this.I have zero DIY skills and have just used tension rods in my wardrobe as shelves-with some No More Nails to glue in!Was looking for a cover and this is perfect for me to try. Thanks!🙂
Watched this from my Google search at first after seeing yet another video that would require spending big girl money for this look lol. Came all the way into the app just to say, I appreciate you!! I have at least 3/4 closets with more than 5 shelves in it, I can guess that would be almost $1k on real shelves. The nerve! haha. Once again, thanks!
Great idea! For it to be long lasting, I might use polyethylene sheet or other materials instead of foam board. I wouldn’t recommend using actual wood panels like other wire shelf hack videos, cuz most wire shelves only got 1 screw into a stud, or none at all but just drywall screws, whose weight capacity is not intended for anything heavy.
This is such a smart and creative idea! Wondering what you'd think of using a tri fold board to expedite the process so as to not have to attach the front lip separately? Thanks!
He could!! He always helps me cut wood projects, but we were renting for a year and didn't want to spend the money and time investing in a short term solution. 🤗 one of these years I need to learn how to use power tools myself!
Do you think it'd be possible to score the foam board and fold it instead of cutting all the way through and having to tape together? I'm so grateful for this hack! Can't wait to try it!
That's a good idea! You could definitely try that! 🤗 I think You would still want to tape it, so it's sturdy underneath the contact paper but great idea!
Hi Beth! I haven't had this issue so far - I cut them pretty close to the size of the shelf so they stick in place. But if you wanted, you could put some double sided tape or foam tape on the underside, to adhere them to the shelves. :) Thanks for watching!
@@Dearingermeister Good idea!! We were renting our house for less than a year, so I didn't want to invest the time and effort into wood shelving for a rental, but if you were staying in your home for a while this is probably a better option. 😃
Hi Tracy! I had four shelves, so four Dollar Tree foam core boards was about $5. And the wood grain contact paper is $10 (with some left over!) So total cost for the linen closet was $15. 🤗
I traveled four hours to buy a beautiful 5x7 used rug, only to find out the rubber backing was sliced up. She had been using an exacto knife for her crafts. (I told her I was not going to buy it for the previously agreed upon price, and gave her 1/2 of that. Also, that rug was no longer in production. Hence the 4 hr drive ) Just stop cutting on your carpet...
What a disaster. This is a lie. I have PTSD now…contact paper, wrapping paper, wax paper, parchment paper. I will say though that connecting the 2 pieces with hot glue works WAYYYY better than tape. I have PTSD now for that also.

I love this! I’ve been thinking of doing it and seeing how you did it with ease gave me the courage to do so :)
What a great hack! Thank you for posting this!
I love a hood DIY and the fact that you were able to do this for practically less that $10 blows my mind. Defiantly doing this when I move!
It was so worth it, and didn't take much time at all! 🤗😃
😂😂😂
I did my pantry today and LOVE it!
Yay!! 🙌 It was a good day for organizing - I was doing my craft closet today 😅 I'm glad you love how it turned out!!
This is amazing!!! My new place is all wire shelving and this is such an easy, affordable and do-able hack!!
@@LUnger-ls6gh Hope it works for you! 😃
I did this over 10 yrs ago in my pantry and linen closet. I used the black n white toile style contact paper
I've done that before, about six years ago but I'm so glad I saw your video before trying it again. Thanks👍
It's such a great hack! 😃 I love the wood grain version especially 🤗
I was gonna do something similar this week. I got vinyl peel and stick tiles to cover ours. I hope it works... 🤞🏻
Great Channel!! keep up the good work!!!!
Thank you so much! 🤗 I just subscribed to your channel!
Looks great! I am going to use your ideas in my pantry closet
I did it and it looks amazing. I used white.
Thank you so much!! My shelves are driving me crazy since they’re ugly!!!! I cannot wait to do this!!!
I hope it works out for you!! The wood grain hides a lot of mistakes 🙈

That will work great!
Thank you so much!! I couldn’t justify paying $70 a shelf. I’m going to do this.
this is so creative!!! love it
This is a great idea!

I never thought of tension rods; that's also a great idea! But I do love these contact paper covers 🥰
Thank you so much!! Can’t wait to hide these wire shelves!

Excellent idea!! 👌🤗
Looks nice I think iwould like to try this
This is such a smart and creative idea! Wondering what you'd think of using a tri fold board to expedite the process so as to not have to attach the front lip separately? Thanks!
Good idea! As long as it lays flat and the folds don't stick up, that could work! 🤗
Can the toddlers dad help with the wood shelves?
He could!! He always helps me cut wood projects, but we were renting for a year and didn't want to spend the money and time investing in a short term solution. 🤗 one of these years I need to learn how to use power tools myself!

How do you keep the foam from pulling out if trying to pull out towels, etc?

Can i get the link to the wood contact paper?
Absolutely! It's in the description box if you ever need to find it again but here it is: amzn.to/3K42bN4
Good luck! 🤗
!!! Thank you for this video!!
Definitely doing this!
Thank you!
What is the link to your favorite Amazon wood grain contact paper please?
Of course! It's linked in the description box, but here is is again 🤗 amzn.to/3K42bN4
I love this idea! Would the foam work for the pantry with heavier items like soup cans etc?
Oh that's a great idea! It seems pretty sturdy to me, but you could always double up on the foam core boards to make 2 layers? 🤗
Saw a different video where someone got wood sheets and 1x2 boards for the front. Definitely going to spend $20 and get real wood.

Thinking something is high end is an illusion
Much easier than wood !!! an a lot less weight !!!

Why do you have post traumatic stress disorder from contact paper?
I think you just need to learn to have more patience if this is causing PTSD….
Sounds like you had PTSD before you watched this video.
I'm sorry this didn't work for you!!
Loved it. I have absolutely no wood skills…but this I can do. Thanks for sharing😊
