The difference between today and this. I don’t think it’s untrue to say the only connection is the title of the programme. I do not watch the show today. This is the true meaning of the good old days. Ena Sharples what a woman.I’ve watched a lot of older coronation street programmes of late and they feed you. The stuff made today doesn’t interest me , I so wish it did entertain me as it’s sad that such a programme with its past style , excellence and unique qualities just doesn’t grab me as it did once

No murders, no sordid affairs , no long lost children coming back. Corrie now has been ruined imo. Great characters, great storylines and very well acted back 8n the day

My wee mum loved Corrie so much, if she was still here she would be over the moon to see these old episodes online.

Perfect character driven writing and acting, so so much better than the Corrie codswallop of Christmas 2020.

The street was an array of talent.

The way Jack Walker talked Betty and Hilda into accepting Annie's gifts - just beautiful and subtle writing and acting.

Camp as hell as we enter the debaucherous 70's.

Annie Walker's face spoke volumes! She was really very funny!

Wow - the writing, script and character development is so so so superior to the tripe that passes as the same show these days.

It was one of the best kitchen sink dramas ever. Not the same today.

The early episodes of Coronation Street are just Brilliant, storylines, characters, a perfect blend of drama and humour, I wish life was that good now!

I had the privilege of visiting the set as a photography student in 1988. Went in the Rovers and it was tiny. Met Liz Dawn (Vera) at lunch who sat on our table in the nearby pub over the road, tipped her short into her pint glass of beer and winked at me.

I see Granada made it in colour , there weren't that many colour sets in the UK in 69. A neighbour had one and it got stolen !!.

Back then there were characters you cared about and storylines that were believable. Note the strong female characters were the backbone of the show.

Sandra Gough's Hilda Baker was pretty good, but Lynne Perrie's performance at Christmas 1977 had me in stitches!
