Oh really? At her age, she still knows how to enjoy company. But yes, trying to get as many on film as I can. Got 1 more week here! Then back to Katie in Seoul :D
My grandmother one of the last things she cooked before she passed away was oxtail soup and she made it like your grandmother did in the video which brought me back to those memories. Cherish everytime you spend with your loved ones because they could be gone the next day 🙏🖤😪 Thankyou for sharing. Your grandmother is adorable an a great cook😊
I have made this exactly as instructed and let me tell you it was one of the most delicious and soothing food I have ever eaten. Now with the Coronavirus I am going to make it today for my family and freeze the broth for back up in case we need it. Thank you sweet grandma!! I hope you took her to the Casino. Sounds like it’s something she enjoys but can’t get there on her own.
I agree. This soup is amaaaaaaaazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sitting here eating it now. I have bad arthritis so this is very good for my joints. It is basically pure glucosamine and chondroitin. It is so simple to make and my local Korean markets always have oxtails. Please give my deepest respects to your grandmother for sharing her recipe.
Same here in the US. Oxtail used to be so cheap. Now it's between 5.99 six 6.99 a pound. And you know beef is heavy so that doesn't give you much if you only want a pound.
You need a pressure cooker. Brown the oxtail pieces in olive oil, and add a sliced onion and several cloves of garlic (my MIL just removed the outer "paper" from the head, sliced off the top quarter inch or so, and popped the head in whole, to save fishing them out). Sauté for a moment and then add two bay leaves, a couple of whole cloves, and half a stick of cinnamon. Salt and pepper to taste, but go easy on the salt as there's wine in the dish. Pour in half a litre of white wine (cheap but drinkable) and water (if needed) to cover the meat. Cover the pressure cooker and bring up the steam. Lower the heat and cook on a low flame for 30 to 45 minutes, or until the meat is falling off the bones. This was my MIL's specialty dish; easy and it tastes like you worked all day!
OMG!!!! There is NOTHING like 할머니’s cooking !! You are soooo lucky !!! I miss mine ❤️❤️❤️ My grandmother is also from the same region... and loves “ playing “ ㅋㅋㅋ

Dude, such a cool video of your grandma. Funny how I came across this vid today. My grandma, God rest her souls would’ve been 93 today. I miss her cooking so much. I cook a lot but I never was able to ask her for tips. I really enjoyed her cooking. You’re very lucky your grandma is around. Please treasure her!😊🙏🏻
What a joy to watch you cook together and have fun. I am on a Ketogenic diet due to cancer and I have interest in many indigenous recipes using animal bones and organs for nutrition. RESPECT!
Your grandma is so adorable, she reminds me of my mom who is Filipino. Enjoy your grandma and cherish her, learn everything you can from a great cook. My mom's Filipino cooking I miss so much but I was so glad I learned from the best. Thanks for the recipes, love Korean foods.
So glad there’s a video on how to make this! It’s my number one request when I visit my grandma! She’s showed me how to make it before but now I won’t forget! We usually add seaweed to ours as well.
Wow‼️‼️‼️‼️ I love the relationship you have with your grandma and your Omma and the fact that you’re doing this for us I love it thank you so much I’m doing the intermittent fasting and this is the cleanest best way to make any type of bone broth the Korean way is the best way🥰💕🥰💕🥰💕💕
So fun seeing where you got your skills. Grandmother is awesome. She is a star and you need to feature her more! I can’t wait to try this one. Korean food is delicious and I love your videos.
Your grandmother is adorable. I’ve lost all my grandparents, but thank God my parents are still alive. So much wisdom in our grands. I wish my son had a chance to know them.

Thanks for detailed video. Loved your Grand Mother also. Bless you to educate/share the menu with us ..... Stay Safe. I was looking for this recipe for ever ..... well done.
Craving some Gomtang so of course I go to TH-cam for a proper Korean refresher on the recipe. Your grandmother is a gem, I hope you took her to the casino after a day of cooking up that incredible soup!
Your grandma is so cute! It's so interesting that she speaks Jeolla satoori! That aside the videos with your mom and grandma explain why you're such a fantastic cook! Hope you all have a great day~
Haha! I personally have experienced something similar because my mom speaks a certain dialect of spanish from her country ("campesina" or country accent; the most common dialect) while my dad speaks proper spanish since he went to a top college in their country (he did grow up in the country like my mom did so sometimes he uses vocab but not all of the time). So I often have times where someone would be confused when I use words or speak in a style only used in the campesina/o dialect lol
the bone broth trend really shot up the price of any bones but especially marrow bones and oxtail. after seeing bone broth show up in a bunch of magazines, instagram, and health food sources I saw the price double almost over night. i've noticed the price of marrow bones and oxtail more than triple in a few years where i live.
I'd seen this video before. Came back for a refresher cause this is what Id like to try doing myself. My wife and I love Korean food. We didn't get a chance to try this when we went to Seoul, but we have some very good Korean restos, shops, groceries, etc. here. Give your grandma a hug for us.

Your grandma is so cute! She reminds me of my Korean grandma, and her oxtail soup looks as good as my mom's and grandma's. One of my favorite soups, ever since I can remember. On cold mornings my mom would feed us big, piping hot bowls of it with fresh rice. Food of the gods! Mmmmm!!

Thanks to your grandma for showing how "easy" it can be to cook oxtail soup. We usually put tons of spice but I'll try your Grandma's recipe this week. Enjoy the Casino place!
Your grandma is so cute. She reminds me of my grandma who also came from the same region in Korea. They are known to be fabulous cooks. I miss my grandma and her cooking so bad.....
Thanks for sharing your recipe! My husband (Korean) told me about this soup. I recently have been dealing with health issues and he recommended that I start eating this soup. I like using beef feet for collagen too, and yes, it makes it very delicious!

I hope you cherish those moments and it is so great to be able to catch those memories on camera 😄 And who knows, maybe I will make that soup for my family in the future😉
So glad you got to have your favorite food that grandma cooks! I need a step to see in a giant pot just like grandma, lol. My favorite food that my grandma cooked was homemade bread. To this day when I smell yeast I have fond memories of her! I grew up in a duplex shared with my Memé and Pepé. I have Grandma's antique bread mixer, and I used it myself until the inside started chipping off.
Hahaha! The casino comment is hilarious! I’m so craving oxtail soup now. You’re a good grandson with your praise and giving your halmoni the first bite. Nothing makes our halmonis and moms as happy as being praised for their wonderful cooking! ❤️
Thank you for sharing this. My dad loves oxtail soup and I always thought it would be too complicated for me to make for him. This recipe was good to follow.

My Iranian friend told me that they also cook it just like it, and feed her baby with rice in it just like Koreans do. My mother who is in her 90's still makes it.
This is a very beautiful and touching cooking video. Your 할머니 is adorable and a pro! Can’t wait to make your 할머니’s famous oxtail soup one day, thank you for sharing!🤗💕
Looks yummy. And your grandmama is adorable. There needs to be a Make Oxtails Cheap Again (MOCA) movement. Growing up in the south USA in the 1960s, oxtails was a classic struggle food. Now it's barely affordable. My mom made a stew with them that included vegetables. She'd serve it with cornbread. Good eats.
i miss this soup. my parents won’t cook this anymore because this was the last dish my brother had before he passed away unexpectedly. brings back those memories for them.
Future neighbor, oxtail is the most expensive meat where I live. Cubans have a dish called "rabo encendido", translated literally it means tail on fire. This delicious dish is made with oxtail and it is nothing like you have ever tasted. Because it is a delicacy, super markets charge a lot for a pound. You can easily spend almost $100 for a family of four.
I have watched a lot of oxtail stew/soup videos. I ended up coming back to yours😉. I successfully followed this recipe in my instant pot and my family loved it last time. Here I am to make it again😁
Oh my god..I love to hear you speak to your grandma in your language. I want her to be my grandma.plz give her a hi-five for me. I really enjoyed your video!
My grandmother used to make Oxtail Soup when I was young and I loved it. Although I'm not Asian, I think there are some cross cultural foods, that we all can agree are great !
I’m making this right now actually . I’m at the part where you skim the oil off of it . I’m so excited. I love Korean food ! Ur grandma is adorable , God bless her ! Shibang! Lol
Tip: If your pot is too small to hold 6L of water. You can start off with 4L and then add another 2L after 2-3 hours of boiling. 👍
Future Neighbor ask your grandmother if she can make soy marinated crab pleeeease?
Hey Misty, those flowers crabs are not in season right now. We gotta swing back to that in the winter :) Or else they get real stinky quick.
Okay I'll be looking forward to it.👋
Can we use a pressure cooker? 5 hours it's too long 😅

Oxtail used to be cheap in Spain too...now it's expensive because they figured out there's only one per cow, and because people love it!

i miss this soup. my parents won’t cook this anymore because this was the last dish my brother had before he passed away unexpectedly. brings back those memories for them.
I will be using my electric pressure cooker to prepare this delicious meal. I like your grandmother and her recipe. Thank you both for sharing.
Your grandma is so cute😊🙏❤
Thanks for sharing it!🥰🥰
Future neighbor, oxtail is the most expensive meat where I live. Cubans have a dish called "rabo encendido", translated literally it means tail on fire. This delicious dish is made with oxtail and it is nothing like you have ever tasted. Because it is a delicacy, super markets charge a lot for a pound. You can easily spend almost $100 for a family of four.
Oh dear... just googled it. That dish looks amazing! Saved it for a future meal. Thank you for sharing!!
^same!!!
@Ko - Thanks for sharing. I googled it too and I'm going to try to cook it this weekend.

I have watched a lot of oxtail stew/soup videos. I ended up coming back to yours😉. I successfully followed this recipe in my instant pot and my family loved it last time. Here I am to make it again😁

My grandmother used to make Oxtail Soup when I was young and I loved it. Although I'm not Asian, I think there are some cross cultural foods, that we all can agree are great !
Thanks!
Thank you and your grandmother for sharing. I will try to make it.
Such an honor that you responded my request!!! Or maybe it’s just your initial plan😅 Your grandma is effortlessly cool🙇🏻♀️
