Plus, Vader was always the ultimate slave, to himself, to Jedi, and Sith. Only after saving Luke from Palpatine was he truly free just for once in his miserable life.
I’ve seen people say they didn’t like the voice actor for Vader in this game (Matt Sloan). I’ve never really understood that, I think he does a phenomenal job.

When the confrontation with Luke occurs, he makes the right decision that time with the memory of Galen being one thing that contributed into his redemption.
Opening this game up by having the player be Vader and fulfilling the power fantasy of hunting Jedi and being a bad ass Sith Lord was just genius. Simple, but genius.

To be fair, the Stormtroopers have consistently been shooting at him through the whole game and he tends to kill them pretty much instantly. By the end of this, Vader was just broken and Palpatine was blatantly egging him on so the Dark Side could get a grip on him again. I suppose in this instance at least, it's a case of killing in self-defence and killing for gratification. (But yeah, it would have been better for the whole galaxy in the long run)
Starkiller wasn’t as powerful here as he was when he beat Vader. Also tfu Vader is only 50% of Palpatine’s strength at most while galen is maybe 30-40%. Vader never planned on using starkiller to defeat the emperor
