Me too, still have one in the original packaging! I'm very dry so I hate powder. This does such a great job cutting down too much shine (I can go overboard with the dewy base products). Works well for my dry skin. Doesn't dry me out.
I have had this product your years! Maybe decade(s). Good to see it mentioned and recommended still. PS That larger white sponge came with it. I haven't ordered it in awhile so not completely sure how it is packaged now. It was interesting to hear Wayne say it came with a mini size, how handy. Have to check it out again.
This one’s an oldie but a goodie. Sad to never see Mally products recognized by TH-camrs because she has so many good ones. Glad to see you featuring this one! By the way, Mally uses the edges of the sponge to apply, not the broad sides.
I was just coming to say that I LOVE Mally products, the mascara is my favorite of all time and I’ll never understand why no one seems to be aware of this brand.
I remember when this product came out, and I thought, "That can't possibly work. It's just the sponge absorbing oil, I bet." I forgot about it until your video a couple weeks ago, and you've totally proven nearly 20 years ago me wrong! I have eternally dry skin, so I almost have a compulsion to keep my skin looking shiny, but this looks really incredible! I'll definitely recommend it to my friends with oilier skin than mine!
INCREDIBLE setting powder for under eye concealer for dry or mature types, the only product I’ve found that doesn’t make my eyes look drier and WORSE! It also reduces shine there which is aging. I love all over instead of powder, over foundation and before blush. A godsend! 🎉

Concealer is such a personal choice, and I’ve tried so many from drugstore to Armani, Lancôme idole etc. I’ve been enjoying Kosas. Applied Over Charlotte Tilsburny peach corrector cuz helps with darkness, since it is not a full coverage concealer. All full coverage ones are too drying for me. Kosas is Not drying, though wait a bit to dry down a bit after dotting on to get better coverage. Im considering trying the new Natasha Denona one when I need a new one, as I’ve seen great reviews that it’s also hydrating and is also developed with color correction in mind. So for me, I’d get peach toned one. I’d love to hear if anyone here has enjoyed the ND one? Good luck, and I hope you enjoy the Maly Defender with its myriad of benefits as much as I do. Hugs ❤
I've been using "Mally's Face defender" for 8 years,and I love it! It really mattes down your face,but you must use it sparingly and "press" it into your skin. It will amaze you at what it's able to do. Be sure to remove it thoroughly at the end of your day,or you may get little whiteheads. I miss Benefit's Dr. Feelgood so much. It was the first Benefit product I ever used. Also miss their creme eyeshadows. So happy to see Mally get some attention. I don't have oiley skin but I love it when my products make my face look shiny but that's jst me but I guess if you want to look more matte than yes this product is great I've seen it b4 ages ago but I'm going to buy it just to say I've got it now bc of your video lol although it is £22 ago at least even on ebay . ❤❤❤
I rarely use powder because at 66, I find that powder shows up every line and wrinkle unless I use a very light touch with it. This product looks interesting!
Used this when it first came out... in Israel.. in the SUMMER. Yes, it lasted in the DESERT in the summer. (If anyone is wondering how it holds up). I have normal to dry skin, am ginger (so I was wearing a gallon of sunscreen as well). I felt like I was melting with the heat, but I didn't look like it. (Wore Mally eyeliner and mascara as well, it all stayed on) .
But....the desert is dry!! What would be impressive if it lasted in the summer in the Southeastern US. Aka 95% humidity. I lived in SoCal and spent last summer in Las Vegas. Even at 105 degrees is isn't as bad as 92 in Alabama.
Got this when it first came out, phew.. prob. nearly 20 yrs ago now. Not sure if it's the same but it blew me away. Esp way back then. :) Hope this finds you feeling well.

I use this product and love it. I use it after makeup application to Matt down everything and to decrease the look of any pores. Then I spray with a setting spray if it's summertime. This product is a solid primer.

Same here. Oily all the time. The ONLY upside to it is I have very little wrinkles. At 61 I can still easily pass for 50. 🙏🏼🌸🕊 I actually think the product has improved.
I just saw a similar version of this last week on Amazon prime day for $33 is there every day price and I watched the founder of the make up brand that it’s the only product under demonstrating it in a video that was 60 seconds and did the exact same pat and dab on the face, and it didn’t even look like she used anything from the Compaq. I was skeptical because I did not see reviews except they love it or a lot of people hated it because they were of course doing it wrong. Now after seeing you use it, I am definitely going to be buying this item from your link as I have a typical oily face so when I use sunscreen or other products, the only reason I use powder is to soak up the oil and modify it, I do not use a full face of make up. I don’t even use foundation for the past 20 years. Thankfully I was blessed with great genetics after high school I haven’t used foundation or a full face of make up sense.. thank you for doing this quick review. I personally greatly appreciate it.🤙🏼
I've been using this for 6yrs or so. But I only use it on my forehead to matte and visually erase texture and fine lines. Don't like it on my face. I have dry, mature skin and it looks heavy on me. But beautiful and undetectable on my forehead.

Years ago - maybe decades ago - someone recommended this particular product to me. From that initial "toe in the water," I've bought other Mally products, breaking my ban against buying online for this brand only. Oh, and a couple sets of brushes from Jen Phelps' collab with Doll 10. (Please don't tell any of the other TH-camrs, I actually hate buying online!) Since I found this from Mally, no more polka dot pores on my nose. No more visible crosshatching on my turkey wattle throat. No more milia like that caused by other coverup products. I love Mally, and I love Wayne for showing it off!
My aunt bought this and passed it down to me and I fell in love with it. I’m super oily, especially in the summertime, and this kept me matte for 6+ hours.
I've used this for about a decade now. I mostly keep it in my purse for touch ups these days as my skin is more dry with age. I've also used it as a spot primer (e.g. on my nose) before base make-up in a pinch. The only downside for me has been that sometimes it'll lift the foundation when I've used it; however, that could have been user error and/or maybe the formula has changed (for the better) over the years.
Hi Wayne. I just bought this half way through the video. I just finished watching and you said it won’t last all day I’ll have to keep reapplying. Well I’ll give it a go anyway. I found something I don’t have to keep reapplying all day but I like to try different things even though I have something that might work better. I have very oily skin so I have a challenge for you to compare this to. It’s wet and wild’s photofocus face primer matte. You will never say something that isn’t a powder doesn’t last all day again. This stuff is incredible. Warning though the liquid is thin and the hole it comes out is rather large and you don’t need a lot it can get messy so I dispense it on to the back of my hand and dab from there. I hope you try it you’ll be blown away, Mary 😘
Love this product so much. Tried it out of curiosity it's almost like air brushing y0ur face imd0nt ear a ton of make up but I do wear sunscreen and this really helps the shine
Oh my goodness - this is the product I have been searching for all my adult life!! Thanks so much for this video Wayne! I've seen the Mally Face Defender on QVC many times but was never convinced by the hype and I don't think it was ever made clear how this could be an alternative to powder. I have oily skin so my face tends towards being shiny and for years I've buffed my face throughout the day, experimenting with various face powders to blot the shine. Even after settling on what I thought was the best powder for my skin, I never liked the way it felt cakey and was ageing on my skin. After watching this video and being so impressed with the result you demonstrated, I bought the Mally product from QVC (luckily I got in just before it sold out completely!) and from the second I first applied it I could see it was going to be a game-changer for me. I feel that for me it mattifies and sets my make-up perfectly with no cakey residue and I don't even feel the need to top it up during the day. My only worry now is running out of this amazing stuff before QVC re-stock it, and I know I will be bulk-buying when they do! Thanks again Wayne for opening my eyes and my mind to this product. This is so under rated, I have been using for years and am so happy Mally makes this. If anyone out there is hesitating just purchase. It is a summer must!
I've been using it since it first came out over a decade ago. The original was made in Italy and was even better. Then Mally sold the company and the quality degraded for some time. But I was very happy to find recently the current product more closely resembles the original. I ran and bought many when the news came out and still have two made in Italy left. Hope in the future they go back to the true original formula. This is my holy grail product also.
I rarely used powder throughout the day. I blotted the oil with tissue. I'd only re-powder for the evening if i wasn't starting over. Nothing worse than cakey. Now I have dry skin and have other cakey problems lol. This product may have been made for me. I just ordered a travel-size from the big "A." 😊
I have it now but seem to have the older version my powder puff is hard to pick up the product or picks too much and then I have to rub in with my fingers
Wayne, I am loving the haircut! As an aside, when I first started nursing in 1980, one of the residents called me “silver fox”! I wasn’t white then (as I am now), but was just a mix of silver and blonde. Don’t wish it too soon, as with it comes age!!😊

Exactly what you said but….While watching this I remembered you saying a few years ago something along the lines of…one of the most alluring, beautiful things is seeing a woman pull a compact out of her bag and powdering her nose. Then thought this powderless mattifying compact might be a huge winner in two ways. People with oily skin and don’t wear a full face of makeup daily would find this product amazing! Secondly, it may help you find love. I love this product! I've actually never tried setting powder before. I just wanted something non-powder to go over my powder foundation in the summer, and it works so well!

How do we know it’s not just the sponge that’s absorbing the sunscreen rather than the product’s application? Maybe the other side of the face should be dabbed with a sponge without product for a better comparison?

I've used this for a few years now. Love it! However, as you pat the product, pat on top of your foundation, then pat back into product, your foundation color will transfer back onto the product. You end up with messy and foundation colored product in your compact. Other than that it's fabulous!!
I think I would like to try this product. When I use my translucent face powder (no matter what color) it always shows up on my skin. I've tried many different colors, and by many different brands, but I still have the same outcome. Because this product has no color it just might work for me. I do not have oily skin, but my forehead does shine, so I am hoping this helps to solve the problem. Thanks for showing us this product, and as always, you look great!

I really love to use Mac time check as a primer and then this as my "setting powder" on brides. That combo with Ben nye setting spray will keep your makeup on through a flipping hurricane.
What concealer works best with that combination for long lasting? And what concealer would you recommend for dry undereyes with lines? I'm sorry I just love getting other people's opinions on makeup because I'm constantly trying to find the right concealer ,undereye powder, and foundation
@ashleybullard1285 LA colors pro conceal. It's under 4 dollars and it's truly excellent quality the shade range is incredible. Just please for the love of hygiene dont use the applicator they put on the tube. You introduce bacteria every time you touch it with your skin. Squeese a little out on to a pallet or paper plate or something then use a clean blending sponge. I also recommend their foundation. Coverage is great and if you want lighter coverage its easy to thin it out with a drop or two of face lotion. With this foundation you need to think less is more, build it up because it is very pigmented. The other thing i recommend is no one is a cookie cutter shade. Its best to get a few shades in your range and custom mix them to match your neck. Undertones are more important than how dark or light a foundation is. You can adjust the darkness or lightness of a shade easier than you can adjust the under tone. For dry under eyes you should put a serum with hiloranic acid in it on first. Hyloranic acid is really hydrating without being totally thick and shiny. Serums have smaller molecules then lotions. They penitrate deeper into the pores and don't just sit on top of the skin causing makeup to move around. They also tend to have a slightly tacky texture which is great for holding on makeup. Please dont ever apologize for asking questions. If you don't ask, you can't learn and what is the point of life if we aren't learning?
I've been using this product for at least 10 years and it's amazing...I love that it takes down the shine but no powder to settle into fine lines and wrinkles. Mally has come out with some really great products over the years.
I do the same thing with any mattifying primer… spread it on the back of my hand.. dab the sponge in it and dab and press on skin. Exactly the same method and it works like a charm!
I honestly feel like I rather use a matte sunstick (like Beauty of Joseon sunstick) in place of this product. The effect is the same, but that sunstick obviously have alot more benefits such as sun protection, and skincare benefits.
Sunsticks do not give you the protection you think you are getting. There are some good videos on YT that you can watch on this subject. I was surprised how they can make the claims that they do.
@@popokidoki9747 Agree, I always use a separate base sunscreen, and only use sunstick for additional, or touchup protection. So in this case, I would still use a dedicated sunscreen, but use the sunstick as the primer in place of this powderless setting powder product since it seems to have the same effect. Any additional sun protection is a bonus in this case.

I actually got this from a QVC purchase probably 10 years ago. I wasn't really sure how to use it back then, I was legally blind and I couldn't see it. You're now like the 3rd or 4th I've watched use this. Might have to get again. And yes, I'm loving the silver fox look you've got going on!!

I have the Veil Automatte which is similar to this product, and you’re absolutely right about powder being better at setting makeup. Mattifying balms do a good job at, well, mattifying the skin, but like you said, you still need to touch up throughout the day. One more advantage to mattifying balms is that they actually double as a primer and lip balm.

Since I found this from Mally, no more polka dot pores on my nose. No more visible crosshatching on my turkey wattle throat. No more milia like that caused by other coverup products. I love Mally, and I love Wayne for showing it off!
My aunt bought this and passed it down to me and I fell in love with it. I’m super oily, especially in the summertime, and this kept me matte for 6+ hours.
I've used this for about a decade now. I mostly keep it in my purse for touch ups these days as my skin is more dry with age. I've also used it as a spot primer (e.g. on my nose) before base make-up in a pinch. The only downside for me has been that sometimes it'll lift the foundation when I've used it; however, that could have been user error and/or maybe the formula has changed (for the better) over the years.
How do you keep the big sponge in your purse? Or do you use a different sponge
Hi Wayne. I just bought this half way through the video. I just finished watching and you said it won’t last all day I’ll have to keep reapplying. Well I’ll give it a go anyway. I found something I don’t have to keep reapplying all day but I like to try different things even though I have something that might work better. I have very oily skin so I have a challenge for you to compare this to. It’s wet and wild’s photofocus face primer matte. You will never say something that isn’t a powder doesn’t last all day again. This stuff is incredible. Warning though the liquid is thin and the hole it comes out is rather large and you don’t need a lot it can get messy so I dispense it on to the back of my hand and dab from there. I hope you try it you’ll be blown away,

Love this product so much. Tried it out of curiosity it's almost like air brushing y0ur face imd0nt ear a ton of make up but I do wear sunscreen and this really helps the shine

Oh my goodness - this is the product I have been searching for all my adult life!! Thanks so much for this video Wayne! I've seen the Mally Face Defender on QVC many times but was never convinced by the hype and I don't think it was ever made clear how this could be an alternative to powder. I have oily skin so my face tends towards being shiny and for years I've buffed my face throughout the day, experimenting with various face powders to blot the shine. Even after settling on what I thought was the best powder for my skin, I never liked the way it felt cakey and was ageing on my skin. After watching this video and being so impressed with the result you demonstrated, I bought the Mally product from QVC (luckily I got in just before it sold out completely!) and from the second I first applied it I could see it was going to be a game-changer for me. I feel that for me it mattifies and sets my make-up perfectly with no cakey residue and I don't even feel the need to top it up during the day. My only worry now is running out of this amazing stuff before QVC re-stock it, and I know I will be bulk-buying when they do! Thanks again Wayne for opening my eyes and my mind to this product. I've been using it since it first came out over a decade ago. The original was made in Italy and was even better. Then Mally sold the company and the quality degraded for some time. But I was very happy to find recently the current product more closely resembles the original. I ran and bought many when the news came out and still have two made in Italy left. Hope in the future they go back to the true original formula. This is my holy grail product also.
I rarely used powder throughout the day. I blotted the oil with tissue. I'd only re-powder for the evening if i wasn't starting over. Nothing worse than cakey. Now I have dry skin and have other cakey problems lol. This product may have been made for me. I just ordered a travel-size from the big "A." 😊

Wayne, I am loving the haircut! As an aside, when I first started nursing in 1980, one of the residents called me “silver fox”! I wasn’t white then (as I am now), but was just a mix of silver and blonde. Don’t wish it too soon, as with it comes age!!😊

Hey there Silver Fox, although reapplying or product maintenance is a pain in the butt, it truly is just part of life for us oily skin girls. Exactly what you said but….While watching this I remembered you saying a few years ago something along the lines of…one of the most alluring, beautiful things is seeing a woman pull a compact out of her bag and powdering her nose. Then thought this powderless mattifying compact might be a huge winner in two ways. People with oily skin and don’t wear a full face of makeup daily would find this product amazing! Secondly, it may help you find love. With the nostalgia and vintage allure or Je ne sais quoi with someone using their compact, just like this product, you never know who’s eye you’ve caught or are unknowingly seducing.

I've used this for a few years now. Love it! However, as you pat the product, pat on top of your foundation, then pat back into product, your foundation color will transfer back onto the product. You end up with messy and foundation colored product in your compact. Other than that it's fabulous!!
I think I would like to try this product. When I use my translucent face powder (no matter what color) it always shows up on my skin. I've tried many different colors, and by many different brands, but I still have the same outcome. Because this product has no color it just might work for me. I do not have oily skin, but my forehead does shine, so I am hoping this helps to solve the problem. Thanks for showing us this product, and as always, you look great!

I really love to use Mac time check as a primer and then this as my "setting powder" on brides. That combo with Ben nye setting spray will keep your makeup on through a flipping hurricane.
What concealer works best with that combination for long lasting? And what concealer would you recommend for dry undereyes with lines? I'm sorry I just love getting other people's opinions on makeup because I'm constantly trying to find the right concealer ,undereye powder, and foundation
@ashleybullard1285 LA colors pro conceal. It's under 4 dollars and it's truly excellent quality the shade range is incredible. Just please for the love of hygiene dont use the applicator they put on the tube. You introduce bacteria every time you touch it with your skin. Squeese a little out on to a pallet or paper plate or something then use a clean blending sponge. I also recommend their foundation. Coverage is great and if you want lighter coverage its easy to thin it out with a drop or two of face lotion. With this foundation you need to think less is more, build it up because it is very pigmented. The other thing i recommend is no one is a cookie cutter shade. Its best to get a few shades in your range and custom mix them to match your neck. Undertones are more important than how dark or light a foundation is. You can adjust the darkness or lightness of a shade easier than you can adjust the under tone. For dry under eyes you should put a serum with hiloranic acid in it on first. Hyloranic acid is really hydrating without being totally thick and shiny. Serums have smaller molecules then lotions. They penitrate deeper into the pores and don't just sit on top of the skin causing makeup to move around. They also tend to have a slightly tacky texture which is great for holding on makeup. Please dont ever apologize for asking questions. If you don't ask, you can't learn and what is the point of life if we aren't learning?

The Body Shop had something like this which came out years ago. So affordable but no longer produced. This sort of product is perfection for me!
Do you have a video on makeup maintenance? I avoid it and often just start over. I only use oil absorbent sheets and lips stuff to refresh. Help!

I do the same thing with any mattifying primer… spread it on the back of my hand.. dab the sponge in it and dab and press on skin. Exactly the same method and it works like a charm!

I honestly feel like I rather use a matte sunstick (like Beauty of Joseon sunstick) in place of this product. The effect is the same, but that sunstick obviously have alot more benefits such as sun protection, and skincare benefits.
Sunsticks do not give you the protection you think you are getting. There are some good videos on YT that you can watch on this subject. I was surprised how they can make the claims that they do.
@@popokidoki9747 Agree, I always use a separate base sunscreen, and only use sunstick for additional, or touchup protection. So in this case, I would still use a dedicated sunscreen, but use the sunstick as the primer in place of this powderless setting powder product since it seems to have the same effect. Any additional sun protection is a bonus in this case.
This is an amazing product. Mally also makes the best primer on the market. Mandatory for hot, humid weather. Nothing beats it for a summer wedding.

I actually got this from a QVC purchase probably 10 years ago. I wasn't really sure how to use it back then, I was legally blind and I couldn't see it. You're now like the 3rd or 4th I've watched use this. Might have to get again.

I have the Veil Automatte which is similar to this product, and you’re absolutely right about powder being better at setting makeup. Mattifying balms do a good job at, well, mattifying the skin, but like you said, you still need to touch up throughout the day. One more advantage to mattifying balms is that they actually double as a primer and lip balm.
