    When I hear "Love and Peace" motto, I come to conclusion, that this is not a mission to one man, this is the quest to the whole mankind. Each and every one of us must care about each other in order to stay on the right path. That's why Trigun is not an usual anime, it's a life lesson.

    I did not enjoy watching Trigun that much, but I deeply respect everything about it; the classic opening, the philosophy, the structure, it's all and all a masterpiece. Vash is honestly, frustrating to watch because I understand where he comes from but his ideals aren't easily accepted for anyone with a semblance of practical sense, him still holding true to his values and virtue is truly admirable.
    Funny thing happened to me back then around the time I was watching this, some time before I decided to watch this I watched a 2004 anime that is also about a (mostly) lone man wandering around a desert in the far future, with cool tech and imagery, and a protagonist with nigh unflinching belief in their ideals and philosophy, the anime is called Sunabouzu/Desert Punk.
    Now it might be heresy to compare a masterpiece like Trigun with Sunabouzu, but I think they are very good at contrasting each other philosophy-wise. Sunabouzu is almost like an antithesis to Trigun; Kanta the protagonist is a pessimistic jerk, he is very pragmatic, he's a massive realist with an equally immense lust for women, but the world and people around him almost constantly tries to challenge his worldview. It might be weird but I vastly enjoyed watching Sunabouzu more than Trigun, I might just find it more fun seeing a story where the jaded person learns that the world still have some good in it rather than vice versa (because that's pretty depressing I suppose). It might be interesting if you were to cover it one day.
    PS: I also find the master-disciple, pseudo father-daughter relationship of Kanta and his main support who follows him around, Kosuna, in Sunabouzu more entertaining than the kind of romance but not really(?) in Trigun.

      Yeah I fully understand being frustrated with Vash's commitment to non lethal force. I personally don't agree with it either, because like you said, it's pretty impractical - but I still admire the sheer determination and will power it takes to hold true to that virtuous lifestyle and those convictions for so long
      Great comment!! And I appreciate the recommendation. I really like the idea of an anti-Trigun story arc, so I'll definitely give sunabouzu a watch.

    Oh man, I can't tell you how happy I was to see an upload from you, the midnight anime philosopher extraordinaire!
    After watching the new Trigun series having not seen the 1st, this is a really helpful explanation of why the character is who he is. I mean, if you had a heart the size of a shipping container and an eternity to wait out other people's foolishness you might be inclined to give people the time they need to reform their evil ways. But yeah, Batman does not make sense, Alan Watts' Dark Knight spoke to me more than classic Batman, because that dude was too fucking old to be wasting time on a mutherfucker that needed to die. I mean, he had Superman nuked, FFS.
    The original Trigun annoyed the fuck out of me to be honest, all that cartoony bullshit. Desert Punk did that better. But if you say it's cool I will definitely give it another chance.
    Stay up!

    • @shira_yone
      @shira_yone ปีที่แล้ว

      Hek, I'm 3 hours late on mentioning Desert Punk. Still, glad to see that I'm not the only weird one who prefer it over Trigun.

      Ayyyy!! Thanks for sticking with me and watching the vids
      Trigun definitely isn't for everyone. It can get pretty childish and cartoony here and there, but I think it has a really good balance of silliness and grittiness that makes it a unique viewing experience.
      And you're the 2nd person already to reccomend Desert Punk in the comments, so I'm definitely watching that next lol

    • @zabnorg
      @zabnorg ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chillreview636 To be fair, Desert Punk is an absolute tool: he's a cocky, greedy little shit who ends up getting everything he deserves. He has barely any redeeming qualities. He is not a virtuous warrior-monk type like Vash. But the show is hilarious, and is set in a post-apocalyptic desert wasteland, so there's that. Hopefully you will enjoy it

    Not a criticism, just a correction: Job was *not* a Christian man. He was a Hebrew, a Jew. His story was written in the Tanakh centuries BEFORE the Christian Bible was ever written, but his story is featured there too. Not sure if Job was in the Quran though. It's a common misconception, but an important one to clear up! :] Otherwise, absolutely LOVED the video.
