Like other people have said, these basic drills the size of the bike doesn't matter at all. I think people hear 1000 or liter bike and they get it in their head that it's inherently dangerous. Just take it slow in the beginning, that goes for any bike

I'm at 5:57 and you are very, very lucky the guy is a naturally cautious person. 5/10 would have dumped the bike because you are not at all giving him slow enough steps and letting him get used to them. Particularly at the 5:39 "try to turn, just a little bit, and if you have to you can break."
You needed to teach him breaking much, much better prior to that. He needed to know and be drilled on if he's going to break at slow speeds he needs to straiten the handlebars if he is using the front break, or use the back break. Half of new riders would have yanked the front brake slightly at 5mph there and dumped it.

It kills me when people say “not a good first bike”. It is sooo much easier to ride a 1000 even over a 600... the bike doesn’t go any faster then what ur freakin wrist can twist the throttle. I learned on a 600 then a month later switched to a 1000. Power without having to hit high rpm. Smooth take offs. Smh anything under a 600 how the hell do you even pull out in traffic ur damn near on a moped. The dude woulda stalled multiple times trying to “power” walk a 600

Moped 600? MY OLD FZ6 has 98Hp, that's more than most all Harleys. I would agree that starting on a 250cc is redundant. But a 600 is a great size to build up your experience before moving up to a liter bike.

Ok so here me out here. I'm 20 and I just completed my endorsement and my manager has offered me his 2014 r1 ( which is my dream bike) at low mileage for only $2500. It's 1000cc and while i'm one of the safest riders and i'd never do anything stupid, im wondering if it'll be too heavy and powerful to safely handle with little experience. Im 6 foot and 190lb so I can probably handle the weight. I really feel like I wont find a deal like this on my dream bike and any decent sv650 or ninja is easily over 3k in my area. So what im wondering is should I go for it, its the best deal I can find and its my dream bike. Thanks

Doesn't mean you can ride it to its full potential, most people couldn't even take full advantage of a 500.

great training, but some bad advice, never sit at a light in neutral. It's better to clutch in with right foot on back break! Otherwise great lesson

Dam that first lesson with the braking. So many people forget to explain this. And sometimes when people panic and then apply the brake they brake too fast and then they can't keep the bike up causing it to tilt over. And there we go another drop
